Hendo, when he was really 207, walked around at 200 (yes, he is a natural 200 currently), & he says he was 42 when he was 40 (for extra exaggeration I guess Lol, what's 2 more years Dana). Let’s be honest, Mir was Lesnar’s only note worthy win. As for Fedor, Dana can try to argue that he fought nobody good in Pride but, as well documented, they weren't all nobodies. Some of them were some of the very best in the world and went on to fight in UFC. Why would UFC/Dana be interested in "nobodies" like Big Nog or CroCop? In fact, why would Dana even bother looking at Pride full stop if UFC "had the best"?
I remember when Fedor beat Silvia and Dana said he was impressed. Dana went on record saying that he wanted Fedor no matter what and was willing to offer him an immediate title shot in UFC among other perks. Why would he say that if he didn't think he was worth it?
As for mention of other hams... Yes Fedor, like EVERY OTHER MMA FIGHTER, has fought "lesser" fighters over the years. Even Anderson Silva does not have too many noteworthy wins before 2007. Same with Overeem too.
Also, I like how Dana laughs at Fedor losing to “old man Hendo” yet goes on to sign him. Then both Hendo and fellow Pride veteran Shogun Rua go on to provide fight of the year and one of the best fights of all time. Not bad for a guy in his 40's, eh? Just to be clear, I'm not a Fedor fanboy by any stretch. I'm an MMA fan and, when you take off your Tapout/Pride fist hoodies and actually think logically for a moment, you'll see that he is probably the best heavyweight of all time (so far).
Anyone who does not believe Dana is pissed because he never got to promote Fedor is simply mad. Ultimately money talks and, if Dana truly wanted to give the fans what they wanted to see, I'm sure he would have made concessions.
But M-1's demands were too great so Dana backed away. And rightly so IMO - Fedor's biggest block to UFC is his own management team who are nothing but a bunch of buffoons. I'd have done the same if I were Dana but at least be honest - the fans would understand.
So, where next for this saga? There’s only two options that I can see. Either Fedor gets rid of his M-1 management team and goes solo to UFC (Dana would still take him like that if such an offer came in the next year or two) or Dana allows selected heavyweights from UFC to go to M-1 events to “destroy the myth” of Fedor.
Option 1 is sadly unlikely. As for option 2... Sure, they’d lose out on money but they could put the debate to bed once and for all. Obviously, this isn't going to happen.
Either way, Fedor should probably bow out of Heavyweight - He’s just not cut out for it anymore. I would absolutely love to see him in the UFC light heavyweight division against the likes of Machida, Rua, Jones, Wanderlei, heck.... maybe even that fantasy fight with Couture.
I think he still has another few years left in him if he cuts down to LHW. Hopefully he’ll tell those nutty M-1 tools to do one and make it happen. And hopefully Dana, who has my deepest thanks for all he has done for the sport, will stop acting like a child and the very mention of Fedor’s name.

So zuffa the smart marketers they are decided to add a couple of good fights to the GSP card to make it more buyable for the fans and general viewers.. There was an interview with Overeem about this, and Overeem confirmed that Golden Glory works this way.
It is because in the past, organizations in Japan etc., sometimes did not pay, or did not pay on time. This way, Golden Glory GUARANTEED the money for their fighters, even if GG had to pay it themselves.
It's just a clash of two systems; which both have good points, and weak points. But in the end it worked out; Overeem is still at GG, and in the UFC as well =)

Let’s be honest, Mir was Lesnar’s only note worthy win. As for Fedor, Dana can try to argue that he fought nobody good in Pride but, as well documented, they weren't all nobodies. Some of them were some of the very best in the world and went on to fight in UFC. Why would UFC/Dana be interested in "nobodies" like Big Nog or CroCop? I remember when Fedor beat Silvia and Dana said he was impressed. Dana went on record saying that he wanted Fedor no matter what and was willing to offer him an immediate title shot in UFC among other perks. Why would he say that if he didn't think he was worth it?
As for mention of other hams... Yes Fedor, like EVERY OTHER MMA FIGHTER, has fought "lesser" fighters over the years. Even Anderson Silva does not have too many noteworthy wins before 2007. Same with Overeem too.

Anyone who does not believe Dana is pissed because he never got to promote Fedor is simply mad. Ultimately money talks and, if Dana truly wanted to give the fans what they wanted to see, I'm sure he would have made concessions.
But M-1's demands were too great so Dana backed away. And rightly so IMO - Fedor's biggest block to UFC is his own management team who are nothing but a bunch of buffoons. I'd have done the same if I were Dana but at least be honest - the fans would understand.

So, where next for this saga? There’s only two options that I can see. Either Fedor gets rid of his M-1 management team and goes solo to UFC (Dana would still take him like that if such an offer came in the next year or two) or Dana allows selected heavyweights from UFC to go to M-1 events to “destroy the myth” of Fedor.
Option 1 is sadly unlikely. As for option 2... Sure, they’d lose out on money but they could put the debate to bed once and for all. Obviously, this isn't going to happen.

So zuffa the smart marketers they are decided to add a couple of good fights to the GSP card to make it more buyable for the fans and general viewers.. There was an interview with Overeem about this, and Overeem confirmed that Golden Glory works this way.
It is because in the past, organizations in Japan etc., sometimes did not pay, or did not pay on time. This way, Golden Glory GUARANTEED the money for their fighters, even if GG had to pay it themselves.
It's just a clash of two systems; which both have good points, and weak points. But in the end it worked out; Overeem is still at GG, and in the UFC as well =)
