@piggemz well, the talking wah bass isnt a skrillex invention, i and many others did it years ago. What he did was he made so much fatter and he is able to modulate it in such amazing ways, and yet no one has been able to recreate that sound. But he made the synth in FM8 and fm8 is one hell of a laboratory.

@OdysseyCheerBadass Ableton has a nice layout, but believe me, if today is your first day attempting to create EDM with a Daw than your gonna be so overwhelmed with whatever program you use. Although i would recommend switching to Ableton now and learning on that because its quickly becoming one of the industry standards. Also ableton is sooo much more than just a Daw like Fl.

@sumrandomperson009 You can double click to make the automation dots which allow you to move then around however you wish, you will need 2 for a diagnol like, 1 is the starting point and the other the ending, or you can click the pencil at the top the draw option or Ctrl+D and you can draw manually once you take the draw option off you will see many dots to configure how you wish as well, double clicking them to delete. hope this helps

i'm talking about 2:50 he first shifts the automation upwards, but then manages to click it at one point and it makes it move diagonally

that's what im talking about, so how is this done? whenever i click on the automation, no matter where it just shifts the entire thing up and down

I don't have the exact same waveform as the video, but one thing to try is LFO on the filter AND set the Dest. B to "FM Drive" - play around with the FM Dr percentage. I got both cleaner and dirtier voices this way. Some very nice "die!" with the sawtooth LFO. :)

FM Drive sweeps the levels on the modulating oscillators, so that's one place to tweak if it doesn't do much at first.

I like that. It's a different approach from what I mostly use, I tend to automate a lot, and use the LFO in Operator, adapting to the filter. That way I don't have to freeze/flatten the whole bunch, not sure if this is better though.

Awesome tutorial! Ive been resampling everything on 1 audio track. I never thought about freezing tracks and flattening them. Glad to learn something new. Also a helpful tip to anyone going for this type of sound, dont be afraid to make loads of basses into 1 bassline. Basslines are really interesting when they have numerous 1 shot sounds all puzzled together.

i prefer massive for really deep growling basslines, the operator/redux combo sounds a bit generic in my opinion....

i also use the lfo in abletons autofilter, its faster than drawing automation curves
