First of all; the Lord Jesus taught that there was a Satan. Ha-satan the Jews called him (Satan). Second: the apostle John wrote in Revelation, chapter 12, verses 8-9: "And he was cast out, the great dragon, that serpent of old, called the devil and Satan." You have to include the New Testament, and actually read the Bible. The Lord Jesus taught that there was a Satan, and actually accused some Pharisees of beings sons of the devil in John.

This is an interesting video. I've always understoud that the connection between pan and satan was down to the way in which christian uses to demonise other religious deitys. If a rival religion was becoming popular the priest would denounce it as another face of the devil much like the crazies do now with islam. pan was just one that stuck.

It makes no sense to me for someone to say that anothers facts and explanation is false, unless they personally have looked into the history and facts behind said detail. The bible is not the only source of information, and simply going on faith about it cannot always verify something as truth. One must test the waters in action to determine whether it is hot or cold, and the same holds true for facts about details that may lay written in stone and time.

Hell was not even in the in the bible until the 13th century, after Dante wrote about his Inferno. The Serpent in the Garden of Edan actually goes back to Sumeria. Lucifer, Satan, the Devil etc, is nothing more than a Christian personification of the Celtic God Herne/Cernunnos, the God of fertility, God that carries the soul to the other world, Hunter God etc. The Horn actually represent being baptized in wisdom. @JUMONGI2010 Actually "Satan" or "Ha-Satan" means "The Adversary" in the Book of Job Satan asks God if he test Job's faith in Him. God gives Satan the ok to do so. In this story Satan cannot act without God's permission. So, that tells me that there is a Satan but he is no Anti-Christ he works for him as a tester of faith or adversary. Just saying.

The problem with the bible, the old testament has been watered down through a half a dozen religions, we think starting with the Sumerians, maybe more, so misentrepetation is easy. the new testament is a work of fiction by the christian church. Pan may have been an a template for satan, as Loki hay have as a few others, demonizing the old religions, but you probably know this as well as me.

"Satan-el" was another term for it & it was seen as something like a "prosecuter." Satan-el or "satan" actually means "opposer," someone in oppsoition to you. That is where the term "satan" come from, as you say in Job, & that's how the Jews used the term. That's what they meant. Enter Xtianity & their interpretations of the bible, which are culturally removed from the Jews, & Satan as the Devil is born. But you are right, the "Satan" of the Xtians, is NOT the "satan-el" of the Jews.
