@SteveFrench306 depends on what you are looking for. Its expensive because only 18 exist and this is technology that nobody else has. Its probably the CLEANEST SQ amp EVER MADE. If you want 17,000 watts RMS @ 12v and super clean sound you get this. If you want 14k @ 18v and you dont give a shit about sound quality, you get the other amp. Nothing wrong with the Stetsom but the T15k is superior on music.....and imagine that, an amp being used for MUSIC. lol :)

from what i understood if i did this amp has or acts kind of like a capacitor and has a built in system that keeps amp charge it must have a sensor that recharges it when is loosing power did i get that right lol...... i got to say Mr Meade i like your work and am not kissing ass credit to the ones that deserve it that's all really neat work Sir.
All car amps convert the voltage to higher voltage. Typically +35 and -35. to a total of 70 volts DC. There are two types of car amp. Class AB and Class D. Class D are the best since they are more efficient and more suitable for cars except they are more expensive. Depending on the transistors used the 12 volts is converted to as high as over 200 volts DC.
Most FET amplifier are class D audio amps. Regular amps are class AB amplifier. Class D audio amp are more efficient. That means you don't have to have a large amp to deliver the same amount of power since it does not need as much aluminum surface area to dissipate heat. It also uses a lot less power to give the same amount of music power. The only bad thing about class D amps is that they are more complicated to design. Cellphones, HDTV, computers all use this technology for audio.

Car batteries may be designed for these currents, but they cannot sustain those current levels for long. I dare you to find an alternator that can handle the charging currents required or space under the hood of a car for the required number of regular alternators. You also then increase engine load which reduces fuel mileage.
@07RedRider400 first of all, Rockford Fosgate had this amp, 15,000 watts RMS, for 5 years before anyone else. Of course someone will eventually make a bigger amp. Better though, PLEASE. Ill take RF over any brand.......even though i like other brands too. On top of that, this T15k is arguably the cleanest car amplifier EVER EVER made. @JustDiploid There is no such thing as "watts RMS" it is a made up term. Watts = Volts RMS X Amps RMS. Therefore it is actually "Watts RMS^2) since RMS means Root, Mean, Square and we are squaring it again, that cancels the "root" in RMS so TECHNICALLY it is "Watts MS" which means nothing. The correct term is "Watts". There is no such thing as peak watts or rms watts or when lightning strikes watts. Just Watts.

Some of what you said isn't making sense bro. Electronics is simply physics. You have to put power in to get power out. I can understand that your switching power supply produces 140V. Is that total or 140V + and 140V -? Even so, you are drawing at least 110 Amps to sustain 14,000 W on the output, and that is bare minimum, without circuit loss and there's plenty of that especially with your switcher. I'll bet you are running 85-88% efficient at best. A class AB amp has plenty of heat loss too.
this amp seems to me to be a product built as much for the status of having the most powerful output rather than a practical application. if it was built for cars etc as its 12v-140v conversion suggests, surely it will destroy your eardrums if you attempt to use a fraction of its power! or if it was built for commercial applications where its power had some use, why use a 12v source? I can't understand the logic.

@iraqiboy90 its a 15k amp that does about 1,000 watts over rated power. My T2500.1bd's are 2500 watt amps and they all do at least 3300w RMS. A lot of brands give you a little more then you pay for......

If you don't know basic electrical theory (like difference between watts and watts RMS) then yeah, you don't know much about car audio because car audio is an application of electrical theory.

@JustDiploid There is no such thing as "watts RMS" it is a made up term. Watts = Volts RMS X Amps RMS. Therefore it is actually "Watts RMS^2) since RMS means Root, Mean, Square and we are squaring it again, that cancels the "root" in RMS so TECHNICALLY it is "Watts MS" which means nothing. The correct term is "Watts". There is no such thing as peak watts or rms watts or when lightning strikes watts. Just Watts.

Some of what you said isn't making sense bro. Electronics is simply physics. You have to put power in to get power out. I can understand that your switching power supply produces 140V. Is that total or 140V + and 140V -? Even so, you are drawing at least 110 Amps to sustain 14,000 W on the output, and that is bare minimum, without circuit loss and there's plenty of that especially with your switcher. I'll bet you are running 85-88% efficient at best. A class AB amp has plenty of heat loss too.

this amp seems to me to be a product built as much for the status of having the most powerful output rather than a practical application. if it was built for cars etc as its 12v-140v conversion suggests, surely it will destroy your eardrums if you attempt to use a fraction of its power! or if it was built for commercial applications where its power had some use, why use a 12v source? I can't understand the logic.

@iraqiboy90 its a 15k amp that does about 1,000 watts over rated power. My T2500.1bd's are 2500 watt amps and they all do at least 3300w RMS. A lot of brands give you a little more then you pay for......
