I watched the inaguration with my sons (14 and 8 years old), my niece and nephews and my 98 year old grandmother. POWERFUL... that's all I can say. I cried when he won the nomination, cried when he won the presidency, and cried during the inaguration.
This moment in time means so much... not just for black people, not just the U.S., but the world... it transcends race, country, political affiliation, and so much more.
Does anyone else feel like it's too good to be true. I didn't watch it, didn't get overly excited. Because it seems very strange to me. George Bush was in office for eight years. That's a pretty long time. I have absolutely no respect for politics.
I feel you sooooo much, everybody at work was crying soooo hard,I just couldnt so I went on lunch, when I came back they were done.Thank God, Its a good thing dont get me wrong,but........Its not the 2nd coming of Christ.P.S. congrats on your article girl, way 2 go!!!!!!
Ok...barbie24...this is extremely more important then the shit you said down below. Yes he is the first black president but the history that was made bridges the gap and shows the "ones" who have stripped our ancestors of everything...we're on top now!!! The country that was build off of our backs is now lead by a Black Strong Leader!!! YES WE DID!!!
I'm stilll crying in overwhelming joy of our accomplishment!!!! Yes we did it!!!! I lovve that you did an article in that issue...I'm proud of you...proud of us!!! Yes we did it!!!!
Thanks for telling us about the mag. I brought one today to add to the two I already have but I'm definitely going to hit up the bookstore first thing tomorrow! Thanks again.
Actually, a lot of people give a shit, hence the extremely large turnout in extreme cold temperatures to watch the inauguration. He is not better than anyone else, the point is this is the FIRST minority president. Celebration occured when the first American's landed on space, when the first American won an Olympic medal,etc... so why shouldn't celebration occur now? This is a first for this country and actually speaks to the closing of the racial discrimination gap. Get a clue.
Sigh... My comment was not a divisive comment so no gap was caused from it. If you interpreted it as such, that is your issue, not mine. I have more than a clue. And I am not going to engage in back and forth banter with you. There are positive things I could be doing...
HEY ERIN! Everyone has their own opinions about Obama and what they think he should do and what they think he won't do and etc... But regardless this is a historic moment in history. Thank you so much for sharing this with us Erin and yes ma'am, you best believe that I voted for Obama! Here's to this historic election and making this country and this world in a better place!
I'm older than you and i TRULY NEVER THOUGHT I'D SEE THIS OMG IS SUCH AN INCREDIBLE BLESSING! History was totally made 01/20/09 forever etched in my brain.
Yes we did . it is a great day for us I am so proud to be able to see history and be apart of history. I am so proud .. nah ,nah, nah, nah, nah hey hey good bye bye Bush see yah .. hahah
I WAS THERE!! walked 25 miles in the cold to the natl mall. I'm 19, my first election. i was so proud to be a part of history. just thinking about it makes me cry tears of joy, for myself, for greatgrandparents and all the others that came before us. that couldnt even drink out of the same water fountain as a white man 50 years ago. so ppl can say all the ignorant stuff they want. this isn't just about politics, or skin color. Its about America finally living up to what it represents.YES WE DID!
yes we did do the thing. Girl I was balling my eyes out..it was just so over whelming. Our people faught so hard and long for this..thank God. We did over come!
LOL!...this really was awesome I'm glad you posted your reaction it was great to see how many people were moved today and that there was so much gladness. It wasn't overshadowed by any negativity or anything just staggering amounts of support. Thanks Erin for being the embodiment of today's festivities
I bought 4 video tapes and taped the entire day!!! I feel you girl...I had goosebumps the entire time! This is so surreal! I am proud and am looking forward to the next EIGHT years of Obama in office.... Can't wait to see America change! YES WE CAN!!! I plan to do all I can to help ensure change!!!!
Thank you for subscribing! & I'm bummed I missed the Oath.. but I got to the part of the after-oath lunch. It was nice to see President Obama walk in with Michelle Obama and watching them shake hands with the people. And YES WE ALL DID =).
History was made today whether the ignorant people of the world understand or acknowledge it or not it still happened. People who can't celebrate in the wonder of change and progress and want to try to take other peoples joy by being negative should probably just keep their comments to themselves. Let nobody bring you down today people! Yes we can!
I hope Obama tackles tribalism in ALL races head on. Tribalism has caused more deaths than religion.
You cant be tribal living in a multi-ethnic society. Its fucking ridiculous! It really looks ugly to non ethno-obsessed people like me. Not that I am an angel or anything. ;)
yes we DID! i'm so proud too. i got out of my class in school to go to the guidance office and watch this, i got out of two class period and i cried too. i'm so happy that words cant even explain it <3
The one who fucked up was Judge Roberts, not President Obama.

it's nice to know that mccain supporters ca turn around and support obama too. thanks for your support cause we know through this tough time that we need at and if we pull together we can live up to out founding fathers dreams. thank you! <3
Today was an amazing day! I watched it at school today...there were TVs all over campus! I was soo overwhelmed with joy! I can't even begin to put such powerful feelings into words. I feel blessed just to be alive and witness such a historical event!
WE DID IT!!! I just feel soooooo lucky to witness something like this that I will never forget and can tell my children and grandchildren! And So on!
And the fact that as a (half) woman of colour and that we were degraded and treated as a second class citizen and now we did it we Have a black president! we defied everyone! God bless Obama!
Thanx so much 4 posting this, I was at work so I did not get to see it, my boss is wack he did not turn on the TV. This is history in the making I was crying too!!
I cried too! i mean, im in the UK and caucasian, but im just so happy - just for what Obama's inaugaration means for the whole world, not just the USA...its absolutely fantastic. I have so much hope for Obama and the difference he'll make, and has already made. Im so so happy :D xxx
girl i was crying my butt off too. its just amazing and wonderful, that is all i can say, to have a new president is the greatest, but he is also black as well, this is truely amazing!

This is the single biggest day in African American history! But Americans of all colors and races made it possible during the election.
I got really emotional about this too. Here's to a brighter future for our country and the true unifying of our country as one. YES WE CAN!! The time for change is now. I can't even imagine what a huge day this is for African American's everywhere. It is a huge accomplishment for all Americans... but one of the biggest days in African American history.
You are right... We did it! I believe in this man, and I believe that he can fix the wrongs in America. YES...WE...CAN!!!
Honey, I don't know how you had the strength to hold up your own camera. My whole self is weak from cryin and acting a fool! WE DID IT and we're still doing it!!!
Just like you, I was in tears! The joy that I felt is undescribable. As I looked amongst the millions of people, listening attentively and reminiscing on the past.....I was overwhelmed with emotion! YES WE DID!
I am at work and I screamed my head off.. I don't care what happened to me today... boss or no boss I was not missing this for anything!! He's so sexy!!
YAY I LOVE OBAMA!!!!!! girl i cried too.. i am so proud that we have finnally such a wonderful person for president, U.S. is going to change.BEAUTIFUL FAMILY!!!!
I wasn't born here but I've lived here for a while and have earned my citizenship. For the first time I'm soo proud to be an American today :D !!!!!!!!!
Times are a changing indeed, and yes...we did. and I am terrified. But our nation should be proud that we have finally crossed the color barrier. Proud to be an american!

I supported McCain, but I would like to say...Wow.
We've come so far.
This is amazing.
Forget who you voted for, what your views are, and just think that a 200 years ago we were enslaving these beautiful colored people.
And now, we are making one of them our nation's leader.
This is amazing.
Anyone who has gotten to experience this moment in history, hold onto it for your entire life.
God is bringing the good back down on Earth.
Hallelujah!
