  • TNA will never buy the NWA, TNA needs to worry about TNA. Give it 5 years at best that TNA won't be around, I guarantee it

  • Let's say that you hire a car from a car rental company for 30 days. You pay the required money, sign the contracts, etc all legal.

On day 28 or 29 the guy from the car rental just shows up and drives off in the car. "It's my car! And other people want to drive it too!" is his excuse!

Yes, it's yours, but by the contract that both of you willingly signed, you had full control for 30 days.

I have no respect whatsoever for Trobich and his worthless "World" Title.

  • @hiltonhoughton OK, I understand that and agree. The problem is, if some (Jarrett) rents a car from a car rental company for 30 days, then on day 20, the car is now in the possession of someone else (Carter), and is not using the vehicle in the manner agreed to, then there is a problem.

  • NWA and TNA agreed to sever all ties as of May 15 2007. TNA had a PAY-PER-VIEW on May 13, when the agreement that NWA signed was still in effect.

Just hours before the PPV Trobich sprung this little barinfart. His claims are nonsense.

The NWA World Title changed hands at the PPV, but the NWA and Trobich refuse to recognize it because of this "Stripping"

  • &6%! it another post never came up!

  • On May 15 2002 the NWA and TNA signed a 5-year deal giving TNA exclusive control over the NWA World and Tag Team Titles. TNA could have booked the titles ANY way they saw fit. NOBODY forced the NWA to sign that deal.

TNA had full control of the Titles up to and including May 14 2007.

The Champions DID defend the Titles both in TNA as well as the various NWA Territories. The idea that Christian, or anyone else, never defended the Titles outside TNA is bs. However only TNA guys HELD the belts

  • where's my post?

  • the new Florida company should associate themselves with the NWA.

  • During those five years, the NWA titles were rarely defended against competition outside of TNA, so the NWA officials had no choice but to strip the titles from TNA's grapplers at the time. At least it wil give wrestlers in indie organizations associated with the NWA the opportunity to challenge for the world champion belts. If I can't find NWA on regular television, there's always You Tube.

  • down the road NWA vs TNA showdown

  • i loved it while nwa titles were in tna..it was a shame to see'em go! There must of been BIGGER reasons for what happened here!

  • NWA's territories and dojo's that they were trying to rebuild there buisness again, by making profits off other organizations, such as ECW, TNA, EWF, WCW, the list goes on, by using there belts for name value. Now, they have enough money to start independant, and work themselves up quickly, with great stars, and the belts with their prestige, but NWA is so old school.

  • Since last year Adam Pearce Defeated Brent Albright in the finals of the Reclaiming the Glory Tournament. Pearce competed as a substitute for Bryan Danielson, who defeated Pearce in the semifinals but withdrew from the tournament due to a detached retina. On August 2nd, 2008 in New York City Brent Albright

defeated "Scrap Iron" Adam Pearce clean with The Crowbar to win the NWA World Heavyweight Championship.

  • im pretty sure the NWA cut its ties because it was afraid that TNA would pull an ECW on them making the nwa look stupid and TNA a bigger promotion.

  • TNA didnt wanted the titles to only be defended on TNA and not in the other NWA territories

  • nwa needs tv and star power without it is nothing because no bodys will be champion for fuck sake adam pierce is nwa champion now yet the nwa has xpac at least make pac champion he has star power.

  • Man this is bullshit. The NWA needs a company like TNA or WWE. The NWA is in the past. It died with WCW. And Vince destroyed it some more when he decided the smackdown title was a brand new belt not related to NWA. Vince is so selfish. If he has no past He has no sole. One day some1 will destroy WWE in the same manner.

  • And by the way Christian Cage is a PUSSY! he didn't want to face REAL wrestlers

  • this could work although i doubt it but hey its nwa without it no wwe ecw tna or wcw

  • I love it! Thank GOD for the NWA, and I hope that they are successful in revitalizing the old territorial system, me being a fan of PRO WRESTLING since the 1970's.

  • troblch not like tna

  • go lsu won bcs go osu not won bcs

  • the nwa has been a spent force since vince destroyed regional wretling.if this is so prestigous why do all would be wrestlers want to be in wwe.i,ve never heard of a kid by me say they want to be nwa champ

  • Did TNA said they were going to purchase the NWA in 2014? TNA is a JOKE!!! Long Live the National Wrestling Alliance!!!:)

  • @ScrewTNA, who the hell said that? TNA is not gonna buy the NWA.

  • y do i feel the Vince and the WWE has something to do with it!

  • I enjoy how NWA kept up TNA's angle with the end of their contract. My understanding is that the contract always was for a limited time until TNA became established, but rather than just let it drop (which kind of happened on TNA's end), NWA kept it up by citing Cage as the reason for the split.

  • TNA is hardly the future. They're going to follow in ECW's footsteps.... dancing on bankrupcy until Vince buys them out. It's unfortunate but it's things to come.

  • NWA is the godfather of all wrestling in the US.

  • NWA is the godfather to not just wrestling in the U.S. but world wide.TNA was noticed because of this and now TNA has to grow on there own without the NWA back up brand. Good move on the NWA part for business reasons.

  • wrestling has always been sports entertainment tho, even waay back in the gorgous george days. In response to wwe being a joke...if you watch it closely...it reminds me of the old school...

  • You are 21 years old and know nothing about pro wrestling. I'm new to this too, but I am in the business and hell...why are all of you young, internet people so negative? BTW, about 40% of the WWE talent (development talent included) was with the NWA at one time. Do some research buddy.

  • The one great thing that has come out of the E buying WCW is the slow but steady return of the territories. Lots of fresh faces and a style rarely seen on Vince's "Sports Entertainment" show.

  • And the other 60% are pieces of shit.. lol.

  • @KillaSevs You're right, they are TOO good for the WWE.

  • NWA is Wrestling it is and NEVER was fake like WWE, if you want REAL wrestling watch or go with NWA or ROH (Ring of Honor) TNA is more real than WWE too, but not as real as NWA and ROH is. I LOVE the old NWA (I watch NWA Shows on WWE 24/7 On Demand) and so does my uncle who watched the NWA when it was on WTBS.

  • NO WRESTLING is fake pal.

NONE, have you ever taken a bump?

have you ever been busted open?

  • true, but entertaining!

  • WWE is a joke. I grew up watching Mid Atlantic Championship wrestling, and as far as i'm concerned the WWF-WWE hasn't got a damn thing to do with the NWA. Vince Mcmahon can try to rewrite wrestling history all he wants by buying up rights to videos that are years old and putting his own spin on them. What's he afraid of? I think i know - he's afraid people might remember how great wrestling used to be, before "sports entertainment" and before he bought up all of the competition.

  • You're damn right. I used to watch Mid Atlantic, Georgia and Mid South. Vince McMahon wouldn't know what good wrestling is if it bit him on the ass.

  • i give one year b4 turner buys tna he has the money and he is allowed now ( when the wwe bought wcw turner couldnt air wrestling til 2007)

  • I doubt that Time Warner will get back into professional wrestling. Besides, Ted Turner has no control over the company.

  • Time Warner doesn't appear to have any interest in owning sports teams or entertainment entities. They sold off the Atlanta Hawks, the Atlanta Thrashers, the Atlanta Braves, and closed up World Championship Wrestling. If one of the wrestling promotions, TNA, ROH, FIP, etc were to become popular enough to pull high ratings, then Time-Warner might think about a time slot. Right now Time Warner has Major League Baseball, NASCAR, College Football and other sports.

  • I think it was the right thing for the NWA to end their relationship with TNA Wrestling and you know it is disapointed because the NWA decided to have their titles put back where they belong instead of giving it to people like Jeff Jarret, AJ Styles, Christian Cage, and Abyss. The only wrestler in TNA that I know that deserves the NWA title is Sting and boy they should've included him in the tournament!

  • nwa isnt the future, its just a steeping stool for small promotions to go big time. awa, wwe, wcw, ecw, tna, all started in the nwa. thats all it was and all it will be.

  • nwa is the past, nobody really cares. TNA is better off without them, plus that belt sucks, for the guy that said tna isn't good without the nwa, WHAT A FUCKING DUMBASS,that belt didn't make tna, the wrestlers did.

  • you are a moron if not for the nwa tna wcw ecw wwe would not exist and the nwa has more legacy and tradition and real honor than any wrestling promotion out there today

  • the nwa tornument suck. not reclameing the glory. nwa only did it cos of the tv deal coming up. everything he said was bs. nwa will never be what it was

  • I don't TNA had much interest in having their wrestlers defend title on other promotions shows, so this is for the best. By definition as the NWA World Heavyweight Champion and the NWA World Tag Team Champions, the titles had to defended in the member federations and TNA had no interest in doing that.

  • TNA isn't any good now since the NWA is no longer working with them so I can just go to WWE now.

  • Jarrett thinks he's a draw. That he puts people in the seats to watch the matches, so he needs the belt "for the sake of the company." That's great, then this explains why he's not bringing any talent. Sure, you got Angle now....you've had Sting for a little bit. the removal of the belts makes me happy and sad. It's a gloved slap in the face from a syndicate that holds no more power in this new era...and it breaks my heart cause we're overrun by crap like the "vince mcmahon's dead" angle.

  • Honestly, this move will be better for TNA then the NWA.

  • I think that the NWA wants to get some other wrestlers to go for world titles and not depend on TNA. I think that TNA has done well on its own. I think that Christian Cage wanted the title to himself and not to anyone else open for a shot for his.

  • a syndication deal is OK but in 2007 the NWA needs a Good deal with a cable network(Maybe a return to TBS) seen in millions of homes and some free agents.

  • Does the NWA even have a TV deal in the works?

  • From what I understand the NWA signed a deal with Big Vision to partner on media projects. I'm sure a television program is a part of the grand scheme. Personally, I'm pulling for them to get one because if it happens I hope they ask me to be apart of the production crew. I do know that several of the NWA promotions have local TV on FOX or CW stations around the country.

  • NWA finally cut its losses. Vince Russo has come a long way in screwing up TNA, and I'm glad NWA finally cut the ties. Time for the NWA championships to go to respectable wrestlers instead of retards like Christian Cage.

  • It's great that this has happened TNA is its own company anf should have their own title TNA is the hottest wrestling show on TV right now they have nothing to worry about-Steele

  • "The best NWA World Champion IMO was Jeff Jarrett he held it 6 times in this decade."

What's wrong with you? Are you 12? Are you brain dead? RIC FLAIR is the greatest NWA champion of all time, without Flair, that title would be nothing. BTW, when JJ held the title, it was only called the NWA title, TNA was the company, so to me, it was always the TNA title, especially since TNA was nothing like NWA and it partially owned by JJ (that's how midcard JJ gets to main event).

  • They should include Christian Cage, Samoa Joe, Kurt Angle and Sting in the tournament.

  • Whooooooooooooooo!

  • Yes they paid. There was no court battle.

  • Bollocks to the NWA to be fair.

  • The best NWA World Champion IMO was Jeff Jarrett he held it 6 times in this decade.

  • has it ever occurred to you that aside from being a wrestler jeff jarrett is also vice-president of tna wrestling?

before he turned face everybody hated him because he allegedly used his position to allow him to win the title that many times.

  • yea i've seen it now pretty rad, i think all the titles look good actually, especailly the tag team, and when i was talking about awarding the belt i meant the old belt with the nwa logo on, because thats useless now

  • A massive Indie tornie would be awesome.

  • That could be the rebirth of the NWA.

  • is is sort of sad that the only names that NWA can come up with are all over 60

but it is good that NWA is coming back for realy

  • yup Bryan Danielson probably

  • Trobich is out of touch with reality. Look at the names he listed off. Only one is currently competing, and he's only doing because he can't afford to retire. That title hasn't had a sense of worth, in almost 15 years. It's no different than the AWA title.

  • Maybe the NWA saved the money TNA paid for the rights to the name & the titles and will unify the NWA and shop for a TV deal.

  • Well, the bad news is that TNA lost some prestige to their titles. However, it might be good to break away from NWA and finally become their own sole promotion now. Besides, I've always considered the NWA titles basically retired anyway since the NWA name was bought by Ted Turner when WCW was founded. I still think it's silly to keep the titles around, especially since Indy guys are now contenders for it lol

  • The belts are definitely not retired. Turner doesn't own the NWA name, the NWA and WCW broke off relations and the WCW World Championship started and they kept the United States Championship. I just hope TNA doesn't follow in their footsteps. Everyone is forgetting, without out the indys there would be no TNA or WWE. Hell, most of the TNA guys still wrestle the indys. Don't forget Japan will also be working with the NWA like old times.

  • For those that are ignorant, they can build up wrestlers from within the company within instead of making champions using the NWA name. Much like what the "orignial" ECW did.

I predict Joe will be champion by years end, latest by sometime from Jan-March.

It's better to use your company name than one that almost was forgotten and whinded up much like the AWA one at present time.

  • HA HA, SUCK IT TNA

  • from what i heard;

WA had a number of rules, which TNA did not follow. Such as, when a title change were to take place TNA officials were suppose to notify the NWA board of such changes. TNA also refused to pay a fee when they had an event in another NWA member's territory. These actions are a result of the two parties coming to an agreement and splitting.N

  • Looks like Bryan Danielson will finally have his NWA Title reign

  • In case you haven't noticed, TNA sucks. Best move by the NWA

  • We Need another NWA Promotion but a plain NWA not NWA wildside ect just a NWA so they can fuck up TNA

  • All I can say to Dixie Carter and "TNA" Entertainment is this.

    Na-Na-Na-Na, Na-Na-Na-Na, Hey-Hey-Hey, Good-Bye!!!! LOL LOL LOL

  • Amen TNA total nonexsistent wrestling where wwe jobbers & loosers go tobe metiocre champs. at best

  • For those wondering who is in NWA or atleast wanting a shot. You can check out NWA's site or look at the promos here on Youtube. Check out the profile MoneySchott. Wrestlers from Dragon all the way to Psicosis want the title.

  • the title will be changed because it has the nwa logo on it, hopefully they just give the original title to lynn or styles just to support what they did for the X-division and tna in general

  • TNA Wrestling got the NWA titles on prime time for the first time since 1998 when they worked with WWE.

  • the nwa outlasted ecw and wcw. Let's see what happebs this time around. This decision might affect the paychecks of some TNA mid-card stars,

  • The NWA has been dead since the early 90's. To say it has any validity at this point is utterly ridiculess.

  • So they stripped them of their titles before the Sacrifice PPV?

  • Good I'm glad that they had to drop the belts. I don't think it's fair that you can have the title one week and the have some random indy guy pick it up the next week. That doesn't push story lines (except when JJ won it from Raven in Canada) and it certainly doesn't help TNA. Also TNA can finally capitalize on making money off of belt replicas, something they couldn't do with the NWA belts.

  • all this means is NWA has pulled out of TNA, the nwa lost all reconision rele when Douglas threw down the belt over ten years ago,

this deal has been going on for a while now, both tna and nwa wanted to pull out,

this means that TNA can begin to start there own legacy with there own branded title.

tna will not be going out of business.

  • i gotta say i agree wif you %1000 here

  • TNA nabbed pretty much all of their stars from ROH, WWE and NWA Wildside in the first place!

  • TNA = Total Nonstop Anal

  • You do know Vince can't buy everything. If TNA ever failed it would just fail. WWE buying it would only prove it has made an impact in Wrestling. Which would be a bad thing for you a WWE lover TNA hater.

  • Tell me you arent serious. NWA is the bases of every major company. Even WWE was a part of NWA at one time. Can't wait till Dragon gets the World Title.

  • NWA didn't agree with their choice of champions? lol. The NWA shiuld have stepped in when TNA decided to put the World title on that loser Jeff Jarrett for the first time....

  • The NWA title will not mean anything no matter who has it.The fed is dead and stuck in the 80's.BUT they claim to be the GREATEST in the world. All the NWA is a little group of indy feds, who slap an NWA name on and think they are cool. They are nobody's, caught in the past. The future is TNA,ROH.TNA never needed the NWA,that was the only exposure that the NWA got was through TNA.Now they will have to find somewhere else to showcase their "Prestigious Belts"HA HA

  • this doesn't mean that tna is out of business!!! this just means that they're gonna have their own world titles not the nwa's!!!

  • I did a vid on this. I don't feel this will hurt TNA.

  • The NWA will be better off without TNA. NWA title is for the best wrestler in the world today & that is not Christian Cage. I hope Bryan Danielson wins the NWA title so it will mean something again.

  • Who is the NWA anymore? A group of rag tag nobody's. Back in the day...they WERE the show, but...not anymore...There is no prestige with those belts anymore...because the NWA..hasnt had any steam since WCW absorbed them. I think, TNA is better off without the NWA and that they have needed..their own titles...for awhile. Screw the defunct NWA. They wont be around much longer anyway..HA HA HA.

  • NWA still has some popular guys. TNA picked up a lot of talent from NWA Wildside and NWA Memphis when they started. RoH guys like American Dragon is one of the people who want the title so I am assuming he and maybe other RoH guys are apart of NWA. NWA has soo many different feds around the world it would be hard to show you just one roster. But I am sure Wiki probably has an updated NWA roster.

  • This has to do with the fact that the NWA didn't agree with TNA's choice of champians this has been in the works for a few months now. Add to that the fact that TNA talent will not be alowed to work Indies who sell DVDs, which many of the NWA feds do, and you can see that this was best for both.

  • ok for anyone who cares, tna has already made new title, so pretty much all this does is make them, tna champions instead of nwa, nwa sucks anyways, Tna can't grow with them. this can make for a better tna. and NO TNA is not closing, now was it bought by wwe, we would have seen that on the PPV tonight it that was true.

  • what the hell are you sayin wwe bought tna? no! this is sayin tna and nwa a parting ways.

  • This has work written all over it.

  • tna ordered their belts a long time ago and this is just an angle for the nwa to set up a tourney (which they've been setting up for some time) to crown new champs. this is a great angle the nwa is taking and i hope tna plays along by letting a nwa representative appear on impact to strip the titles, allowing the nwa belts to build even more prestige as they moves forward.

  • Who said TNA was going out of business? This isn't something new. It was announced a couple of months ago. TNA will be getting their own belts and NWA will be doing the same thing they've done since ECW with theres, letting a lot of indy guys go for it.

  • To let all you marks know, this has been talked about for the last month. Everyone knew what was happening. TNA is still going to be around. It's like when ECW severed ties with the NWA. WWE isn't wrestling, it's sports entertainment.

  • WHAT??!?!?!? NWA is severing ties with TNA. TNA is still going to be around, just their titles are not going to be the NWA champions.

  • This is so carny, it's awesome!

  • What are you talking about?

  • Yeah.. Vince sure cares a lot about TNA *rolls eyes*

  • What the fuck are you talking about?

  • Good Bye TNA, You screwed yourself Good

I agree with this decision, cant wait for the Tourney

  • That's huge news for all the indy wrestlers in NWA Affiliates and fans of those particular promotions, including my friends in NWA Empire and NWA Upstate here in New York!

  • Thats Bullshit. Y would NWA do that? TNA is the reason we know anything about "NWA" BUt anywayz TNA IZ gettin new belts...FUCK NWA

  • About time, now we can see a true NWA World Champion. Jarrett was the only guy that really defended against NWA challengers

  • Hey NWA!

I think its only right for Angle to get the NWA recognition for his win tonight. Man, this dude finally wins a title to make it turn into a non-title win.

  • he'll just be tna world champion now which i think is more exciting anyway.

  • awesome job nwa! tna can't hold your jock. suck it tna

  • TNA's last chance to make awesome matches with prestigous titles is gone. Now they'll fall behind WWE even more. They have to start again. XD

  • Well it isnt like WWE's titles have that same prestige. Now they will just give it to whoever and let them hold it until they die. Now they gave the IC title which has been held by Legends to some nobody just so he can have it...??? WWE needs to shape up and get some dignity and respect back to their titles.

  • You do know I meant that their titles have more history than the ones TNA came up with for this situation. They'll have to start again with their champions. They get a clean slate. I guess that's a good thing. lol I bet Shane Douglas was happy when he heard the announcement. He'll be happy that they're getting new titles. I mean he was the one who threw down the NWA title to basically change Eastern Championship Wrestling to Extreme Championship Wrestling.

  • no dumbass

  • if any of you all would check wrestling info sites you would know what is going on!

  • TNA Better be gettin TNA World & Tag Team Titles!

    DAMN YOU NWA.....DAMN YOU!!

  • Well, it was said that TNA already has replacment titles planned for something like this. But we'll just have to wait and see

  • I HOPE SO (King of the Mountain Match!!)

  • the NWA and TNA haven't had a relationships since 2004 when TNA split from the NWA. also, TNA has the rights to the belts until, i believe 2014. this newsbreak makes little sense, but oh well. finally TNA will have it's own belts. eh, what happens happens, i'm just a little confused.

  • You're confused because you don't have all the facts.

  • Anyone watch the TNA show? How did they address this?

  • They said nothing about this, this was just stated today apparently.

  • they didnt at all even at the ppv

  • Let me mind you, that before TNA was around, the past ten years of the NWA were mediocre. Now, guys like Christian Cage and AJ Styles have held the belt. It's time for both TNA and NWA to move on though. It's an essential step for both companies. Can't wait to see what's gonna happen to the NWA belt, and how TNA's gonna handle their own.

  • I'm not surprised, but the only sad thing is that Christian has been stripped of the title before Angle had a chance at it, or even Sting having another chance at it.

  • when did the wwe have the nwa title? They did have the WCW but just like today WCW had long split from the NWA

  • somewhere back around 1920s to 1950s not sure but buddy rose was the first wwe champion and was the last NWA champion in the wwe years however it was called continental something back then I forgot the exact name

  • wwe never had the nwa title. nwa has always been an independent title.

  • Good move by the NWA. I hope Danielson gets the NWA World Title.

  • pwnt

  • I wish the NWA good luck.

  • the TNA/NWA split was announced like 2 months ago..im not surprised..

  • I knew this was going to happen. I like TNA's stars, but TNA has been mistreating those belts alot. Sad to say.

  • I definitely agree. It's sad how much the championships have been tarnished as of late.

  • TNA all the way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • WOW! Fuckin wow!

  • good riddance TNA!!! TNA doesnt deserve those belts

  • thats cause tna is better than nwa. tna is the future not the past. the nwa belt is old and boring nobody really wanted it. i'm pretty sure everybody wanted 2 do what shane dougles did to it in ecw, THROW IT AWAY1

  • This is awesome. NWA can gain come credibility again. =D

  • LOL PWNED.

  • Best move for the NWA to do before TNA completely tarnishes the image of those belts.

  • wow
