i did this so i could clean the dust from under the screen and now the touch screen part stops working halfway through the screen. i swipe to unlock and the bar moves half way and then stops following my finger and goes back. have i ruined it? or is this fixable???
@toothpick210 Sounds like the touch screen connection is just a bit loose. I would just pop it open and check that connection on top to be sure it is fully in place. If it is, examine the cable for any rips or other damage.
I'm watching this on my broken touch. I would love to do this but I can't trust myself to do it. If I happen to break it I don't have the money to buy another. I asked my local computer builder if he could and he said no. I would to pay someone to fix it if apple didnt charge $150 for a repair. I guess eventually I'll say screw it and try this.
@Taxemicshadow If it is just the touch screen digitizer that is cracked, then the repair is very simple. Check out our full touch screen assembly at RepairsUniverse (dot) com. This part is very simple to replace, just pull out the old touch screen with mid frame and swap it with a full new assembly. Very affordable pricing as well.
I have an ipod touch 3rd gen and i have taken the digitiser off and whats wrong with mine is that it only has a white screen and nothing else and underneath the digitiser that is where the colours have burst, what is the other part that looks like the digitiser called?
@dancerbabe91890 I am assuming you are referring to attaching the touch screen to the mid frame? There are a few options - firstly it would be purchasing a touch screen assembly, which has the touch screen, mid frame, home button, and home button flex cable pre installed. This makes the repair very quick and simple. The other option would be to use pre cut adhesive for the mid frame to hold the touch screen in place. Both are available at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.
@05petersa 8GB iTouch, from a hardware standpoint are 2nd generation. However the process is nearly identical, just subtle differences with the connectors.
stupid question how do i tell the difference between a 3g and a 4g? i just get an ipod touch with a cracked screen and i need to know the gen to buy the proper screen to repair it
@alucard1589 Most simple way would be to enter your model number and GB (on the back case) into a search engine. If you are still having difficulties determining, let us know and we can help out.
This is probably a stupid question, but i ordered a new pre-assembled digitizer. Will i need the same midsection from the original digitizer, or will the new pre-assembled one just snap into place and work after i plug in the ribbon cable?
@CoRkSkr3w Not a stupid question at all. The pre-assembled touch screen assemblies include the mid frame, pre attached. All you will need to do is remove the old screen and mid section and pop in the new one, simple as that! Makes for a very easy repair, just be sure the connection is fully in place and everything else will pop in with a bit of pressure.
@RepairsUniverse i got the same thing...but mine didnt come with a home button...do people just sell that portion alone because mine has small piece of broken glass all over it on the adhesive
I bought a new digitizer and a new mid-section but the mid-section says no "home-flex cable" which i beleive is needed. I took apart my old midsection and took out the HOMEBUTTON, but how do i install the cable on the new mid-section. PLEASE HELP THANKS:D
@randomvideos64 Normally adhesive is used to secure the home button flex cable. Many times it can be secured down with super glue or similar. Just be sure the button alignment matches the lower flex cable (below the LCD screen and LCD flex cable connection).
umm before i replaced my ipod with a new digitizer it was still working but after i replaced it with a new digitizer it stopped working! do u know anything that couldve happened?
@RAZORISCO0L Yes, I believe you are referring to the touch screen's flex ribbon cable. If this becomes damaged a replacement will be required. These are available at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.
i have and ipod touch 3g 8gb and it may have come in contact with a drop or two of water and now the screen wont respond to any touch. is it the lcd or digitlizer i need to replace? and if so, what kind of digitlizer/lcd would i need? once again, its an ipod touch 3rd generation 8 gb ipod. just bought it two months ago from a friend
@AcapellaGleek1 I see. A common misconception is that the 8GB is 3rd generation - the 8GB technically uses a 2nd generation touch screen digitizer. This is what will need to be replaced - assuming it is only the digitizer that is faulty and not damage to the motherboard. These are available at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.
@gangstanikka1 I believe the screen you are referring to is the LCD screen. This is the display screen. Replacement LCD screens can be found at RepairsUniverse (dot) com. We also have a video for this located in our channel.
@doggy1june The technical answer is yes, however he 4th gen swapped to a different screen assembly. The LCD and touch screen digitizer are fused together making it very difficult to remove and replace only one screen without damaging the other. We suggest replacing the full screen assembly to insure a safe repair. These are available at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.
@RepairsUniverse thanks so much! is it possible to change just the digitizer?also would it be harder to replace the full screen. (i am electronically imparied) lol !!
@doggy1june Possible? yes. Suggested? no. We would highly recommend the full screen assembly to be swapped. It is a much simpler repair and should save you quite a bit of time and frustration. Cost wise, they are nearly the same as well.
Starting at 4:00 taking the screen apart i had trouble and broke the thin outer plastic. and looking to buy any from any site doesnt mention this "outer plastic" just has the main glass screen which i have a replacement. but it wont fit, it needs the little clips or outer plastic. any help? i would buy from you!
@remix696 This is the mid-frame. We have these available at RepairsUniverse (dot) com. We also have pre attached touch screen assemblies which include the glass touch screen digitizer, mid-frame, home button, and home button flex cable, all pre attached, making this repair VERY simple.
I have a question. When I tried removing the digitizer, the mid section broke, but the home button and ribbon on the plate are still in tact. If I buy a new mid section, how do I put the home button cable on to it? (do I just peel it off and stick it on the new one?) Am I better off finding a mid section that already has it attached to the metal plate?
@MsInsomnia89 Yes, you will need to remove the home button and home button flex cable (with metal bracket) and transfer them to the new mid section. This is a very simple process. You can find touch screen assemblies at RepairsUniverse (dot) com, these include the touch screen digitizer, mid section, home button, and home button flex, all pre-attached. This is the most efficient and safest way to repair a damaged or nonfunctional touch screen digitizer.

@Asyrafkilo It may be an issue either with the battery or the motherboard itself. May be worth keeping it connected to iTunes and seeing if it will charge up. Possible the battery can't hold a charge. Or, worst case it is motherboard damage. Battery replacements are available at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.
@RepairsUniverse I check my iPod touch already. The battery wires that connect to the motherboard has damage. So I need to buy a new battery and I need to solder it.. Thanks for your information ! :)
hi i just wanna ask cause i had a new digitizer installed on my 3g itouch prob is it doesnt *REALLY FIT well it's like the rubber enclosure is gone and to fit the digitizer in place what do you call that thing that make sures your digitizer is in place and firmly placed on your ipod touch and on top of the lcd? i think i was cheated
@heartache33 I believe you are referring to the mid frame. The mid frame is attached to the touch screen and also holds the home button flex cable and home button. This can be cracked or damaged. Many times it can be reused but sometimes it would need to be replaced.
@Procyus Yes, normally we suggest using a plastic pry tool if you are not experienced though. This prevents damage/scratches on the housing and internals. However a metal pry tool such as a razor blade and flat head screwdriver work great if you are very careful.
Hi. Due to a sound problem I had to Open my Itouch during which I have cracked the digitizer from various parts of it. Now I am going to order a replacement one,my question is if I can install a White digitizer as to make it look more fancy. Does the 2nd Gen Itouch allow white digitizers to be installed or should I just get a Black one? Thank you!!!
@ekinpassapassa I do not believe a white screen is available for the iPod Touch 2nd Gen. However there may be aftermarket screens available in white. Always be careful with aftermarket screens as many use inferior materials. Check out RepairsUniverse (dot) com for our current supply of touch screens for the iPod Touch's.
Hey. I just bought an ipod touch on ebay (works great, connects). Seems the digitizers I've bought do not work. I read that only sepcific model #s work for a specific ipod touch. The problem is, the seller also tried replacing the digitizer with one bought off ebay and doesn't know the original model #. I was wondering if model #'s are even important...And are the model #'s on the digitizers you sell going to 100% work for my ipod? are all ipod 64 gb module #'s: 821-0856-A? Please help me. -Erik
@RoxasC08 Hi. You just need to know the generation. It sounds like it is a 3rd generation. We have these screen replacements at RepairsUniverse (dot) com
@candysteeler217 Its a fairly common term. Mid section, mid frame, touch screen housing, all of these are pretty interchangable. We did not make up the term, and it is used quite often in the industry. You can find these at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.

Yes i have a ipod that has water damage works perfectly computer recognizes buttons works but does not respond to my will your digitizers work for this issue? Please respond quickly!
@MrShakethatshakethat Replacing the digitizer will resolve the issue with your touch functionality, assuming that the motherboard / motherboard and touch screen digitizer connection was not damaged. You can find all the replacement parts and tools at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.
@SquareGiant Damage is always possible, but as long as you have all the tools needed and take your time, the chance of damage is very slim. Patients is key for repairing devices like the iPod Touch. Tools and parts for the iPod Touch can be found at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.
I cracked my 3rd gen iPod touch a while ago, A friend of mine gave me an extra digitizer he had, but I need a new "mid-section" as you put it. My frame broke in a few spots when I removed it. Do you sell them individually?
@jinglebells56 Yes, we do. We have nearly all replacement parts for the iPod Touch. You can find these at RepairsUniverse (dot) com. Be aware that the mid frame is specifically the mid-frame. The home button and home button flex cable are separate.
I'm confused by the names but I need the entire piece you took off the iPod. The glass the mid section with the ribbon cable and home button installed. Do you sell it all together like that?
So my 3rd Gen touch got wet. After an initial time where the screen was nearly black, it recovered, but does not respond to touch...would replacing the digitizer fix this?
@evodevo1973 It is possible, many people with water damage have been able to do this, however if it is an issues with motherboard, then no. Sadly there is no easy way of testing what exactly is damaged when it comes to water. Replacing the digitizer is the most likely, cheapest way to possibly resolve the issue, however there is a small percentage where it does not fix anything, because it is the motherboard itself which is damaged. Replacement screens can be found at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.
I just replaced the lcd and digitizer to cure the white screen of death. The white screen is gone, but the screen is unresponsive to my touch. Do I have a lose ribbon or what?
@jaska231 Hmm, a bad connection usually causes this. If you put pressure on certain areas will the screen fully stop working? If so, carefully remove the digitizer, be wary of the mid section, or order a replacement before hand (quite cheap). Check the connection and if it does seem in place, check for damages to the flex cable. Replacing the digitizer would be the final suggestions, this should fully resolve the issue. Replacement screens and mid section can be found at RepairsUniverse(dot)com
@mktRR177 Are you referring to the touch screen flex cable? If so, you will need to replace the full screen, as the digitizer is attached to the cable.
so i open my ipod the other day because i was tired of my ipod not charging the right way i open and i broke the black part around the ipod then when i put it together i notice my touch screen spot working.
what part is where you touch the screen? does the clip around the grass digitizer interfere with touch screen? is it easy to replace the usb charging thingy?
@kakashitocool The parts you are referring to are touch screen digitizer (glass front), mid-section frame, and charging dock port. Its possible when you damaged the mid section you also damaged the touch screens flex cable? If so, this is what is causing your digitizer not to work properly. Replacing the dock port is a simple swap, very simple. We have all these parts available at RepairsUniverse (dot) com, Hope this helps!
i went into the pool with my ipod 3g in my pocket by accident, i got out the cool to try to see if it works, it did, so i let it dry, i turn it on and then in 30 sec the the screen goes dark, i point it to the light and i see the screen and the game i was playing, but it still working, i don't know if i have to replace something or i have to dry the inside of the ipod, please help me!!!
@IxDisappear Don't give up hope yet! Open your Touch up and see if you can clean it up. Check your connections and then try to power it up. Liquid is deadly, but sometime you can get lucky!
@notsoquickscpe If it has been water damaged, it gets quite a bit trickier. The motherboard could be damaged or just caused the touch screen digitizer to become faulty. Replacing the touch screen would be the cheapest thing you could try. You can find replacement screens and parts for the Touch 3rd at RepairsUniverse (dot) com. Water damage is difficult to diagnose because of so many variables. Hope this helps.
I think i have a problem my ipod touch its a 2g 8gb mc model and whenever i opened it the glass was stuck on to the lcd with glue. Weird. When removing the glass i applied to much pressure thus cracking the lcd it was stuck to. I have a glass digitizer but i put the lcd on the digitizer frame and it would'nt fit the lcd was to big, some plastic clips on the digitizer were touching the lcd so i ordered a new lcd and right now i dont know if its going to be smaller i really am hoping is a 2g lcd.
@narutofan190249 The digitizer is the touch screen, so if outer glass screen is cracked, not sensitive to touch, ect, you will need to replace the touch screen digitizer. If the display behind the digitizer is damaged you will see things like discoloration and dead pixels.
@TheDrbono101 No its 2nd. Check the Apple website. 3rd gen only came in 32GB and 64GB. You will need 2nd gen replacement parts. 3rd gen parts won't fit.
@OREOkiller64 We have adhesive strips to securely fit the touch screen back in place. We also have adhesive specifically for the iPod Touch available at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.
@aYoCrunch We offer replacement digitizers here at RepairsUniverse (dot) com. Apple usually charges outrageous prices for this simple repair that you can easily do yourself.
I'm in the throws of working on mine right now...just rec'd my repair kit......the video only goes up to taking the old digi screen off.......what am I supposed to do w/ this double sided sticky piece of tape? Any other video for actually putting new screen on?

The problem is, the seller also tried replacing the digitizer with one bought off ebay and doesn't know the original model #. I was wondering if model #'s are even important...And are the model #'s on the digitizers you sell going to 100% work for my ipod? are all ipod 64 gb module #'s: 821-0856-A? Please help me. -Erik

Shit dam IPad, the part you call " the mid section" is that the real name of that part of did you make it up because mine broke when I dropped it
candysteeler217 5 months ago
@candysteeler217 Its a fairly common term. Mid section, mid frame, touch screen housing, all of these are pretty interchangable. We did not make up the term, and it is used quite often in the industry. You can find these at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.

Yes i have a ipod that has water damage works perfectly computer recognizes buttons works but does not respond to my will your digitizers work for this issue? Please respond quickly!
MrShakethatshakethat 5 months ago
@MrShakethatshakethat Replacing the digitizer will resolve the issue with your touch functionality, assuming that the motherboard / motherboard and touch screen digitizer connection was not damaged. You can find all the replacement parts and tools at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.

@MrShakethatshakethat thank you ill order the parts and hope for the best. Thanks!

I have dead zones problems will buying a digitizer fix my issue?
zero110100 6 months ago
@zero110100 Yes, more than likely it will. I would check the connection first however, a replacement may not be necessary.

how easy is it to replace? is damage easy to do to it doing this process
SquareGiant 6 months ago
@SquareGiant Damage is always possible, but as long as you have all the tools needed and take your time, the chance of damage is very slim. Patients is key for repairing devices like the iPod Touch. Tools and parts for the iPod Touch can be found at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.

I cracked my 3rd gen iPod touch a while ago, A friend of mine gave me an extra digitizer he had, but I need a new "mid-section" as you put it. My frame broke in a few spots when I removed it. Do you sell them individually?
jinglebells56 6 months ago
@jinglebells56 Yes, we do. We have nearly all replacement parts for the iPod Touch. You can find these at RepairsUniverse (dot) com. Be aware that the mid frame is specifically the mid-frame. The home button and home button flex cable are separate.
RepairsUniverse 6 months ago
Thanks for your quick response. I'm kinda surprised it cost $60 though.
Labzo441 6 months ago
@Labzo441 All of our products are OEM, top shelf quality. Many of our competitors use aftermarket products which are less reliable.
RepairsUniverse 6 months ago
I'm confused by the names but I need the entire piece you took off the iPod. The glass the mid section with the ribbon cable and home button installed. Do you sell it all together like that?
Labzo441 6 months ago
@Labzo441 Yes we do, we call it a touch screen full assembly. You can take a look at RepairsUniverse (dot) com, should be easy to find.

So my 3rd Gen touch got wet. After an initial time where the screen was nearly black, it recovered, but does not respond to touch...would replacing the digitizer fix this?
evodevo1973 7 months ago

Do I have a lose ribbon or what?
granitepeaker 7 months ago
@granitepeaker Yes more than likely. Pop it open and check the connection and also check for damage to the digitizer's flex cable.

will a 2g glass and digitizer work in a 3g 8gb ...... help
kenneycan762x54 7 months ago
@kenneycan762x54 No, the 2nd gen and 3rd gen screens are not compatible. The digitizers flex cable have subtle differences.
RepairsUniverse 7 months ago
Hi. I bought my iTouch 3 gen couple years ago and now it's making these tricks:
1. screen moves between pages and touches it self sometimes
2. screen works and dosen't work for couple seconds and repeats
3. when i try to unlock it it wont unless i do it really really fast!
and i am f***ing scared that i brake the frane (mid section) so any sugestions? thx in advance
jaska231 7 months ago
@jaska231 Hmm, a bad connection usually causes this. If you put pressure on certain areas will the screen fully stop working? If so, carefully remove the digitizer, be wary of the mid section, or order a replacement before hand (quite cheap). Check the connection and if it does seem in place, check for damages to the flex cable. Replacing the digitizer would be the final suggestions, this should fully resolve the issue. Replacement screens and mid section can be found at RepairsUniverse(dot)com

mktRR177 7 months ago
@mktRR177 Are you referring to the touch screen flex cable? If so, you will need to replace the full screen, as the digitizer is attached to the cable.
RepairsUniverse 7 months ago
so i open my ipod the other day because i was tired of my ipod not charging the right way i open and i broke the black part around the ipod then when i put it together i notice my touch screen spot working.
what part is where you touch the screen? does the clip around the grass digitizer interfere with touch screen? is it easy to replace the usb charging thingy?
kakashitocool 8 months ago
@kakashitocool The parts you are referring to are touch screen digitizer (glass front), mid-section frame, and charging dock port. Its possible when you damaged the mid section you also damaged the touch screens flex cable? If so, this is what is causing your digitizer not to work properly. Replacing the dock port is a simple swap, very simple. We have all these parts available at RepairsUniverse (dot) com, Hope this helps!

what happens if i cant use the touch screen as in it wont respond what will i need to do then ?
notsoquickscpe 8 months ago
@notsoquickscpe If it is because the touch screen is faulty, you will need to replace it. Could also be a connection issue.
RepairsUniverse 8 months ago
@RepairsUniverse okay could you fix it.. someone told me that it could be the touch bored as it did recieve water damage
notsoquickscpe 8 months ago
@notsoquickscpe If it has been water damaged, it gets quite a bit trickier. The motherboard could be damaged or just caused the touch screen digitizer to become faulty. Replacing the touch screen would be the cheapest thing you could try. You can find replacement screens and parts for the Touch 3rd at RepairsUniverse (dot) com. Water damage is difficult to diagnose because of so many variables. Hope this helps.

@RepairsUniverse okay so do you fix them or do you just do parts thanks for the help

HyperRunner 8 months ago
How can you tell if it's the digitizer or the screen broken?
narutofan190249 8 months ago
@narutofan190249 The digitizer is the touch screen, so if outer glass screen is cracked, not sensitive to touch, ect, you will need to replace the touch screen digitizer. If the display behind the digitizer is damaged you will see things like discoloration and dead pixels.
