I live in Akron Ohio USA, the largest Amish communities are a few hours drive south of me. They are the most honest, hard working people any one will encounter. They do not lie, cheat or steal. They are a very gentle warm folk.

After reading the many confused and derogatory statements made here about the Amish, it's no wonder they wish to remain separate. Genuine goodness, kindness and happiness is threatening to those who are bankrupt of it. I live close by many Amish communities in Central NY State and I would prefer them any day as the good friends and neighbors they are over the likes of many of those who've posted here.
