  • im buying some bees!!

  • You should have cody stay in the yurt for a while!!!!

  • Honey its best to use the local honey not so much big store bought honey use honey local to the area ur in and it will help ur with alergies to pollen u might be having teaspoon of honey in the morning plus bactiera can't pass through honey just adding my2 cents dave keep up the great work!

  • As far as the immune system boost, LOCAL cold spun honey can replace antihistamines. If you have bad allergies, the honey will help your body adjust to all the pollens in your environment and you can build tolerance against them.

  • I've also successfully treated pink eye using honey with warm water

    .

  • honey (spun)

    lard

    flour

    peanut butter

    sugar

    salt

  • Hey Dave, there's a type of honey too, to look into. It's called Spun or Whipped honey that has been crystalized with micro crystals. It stays smooth and cream-like, won't crystalize (ie get hard as a rock), it won't make a mess, it's easy to make after it's bought, and because of its pasty consistency it can be easily and direct applied to an open wound. I've actually used it and it works very well in that application. It also just tastes good.

  • Nice, did not know this. Thank you.

  • try to use local honey as much as possible. It will help build your immune system for the environment you are in...

  • I heard that natural honey can be dangerous to children under the age of three. Something about the naturally occurring E. coli in unpasteurized honey. Has anyone else heard that from a reliable source?

    Good Journey

    Sunblade

  • dave have you ever thought about slicing up some potatoes and cookin them in oil for some chips on the trail? haha just a suggestion!

  • @wkc89 You are a moron. PLEASE crawl back to your hole and never return.

  • @TacticalAngel86 why do you say that

  • Do you have a video about how to harvest wild honey? If not you should.

  • Does not load for me. UK tuber.

  • its funny watching you put your glasses on and off lol

  • John the Baptizer lived in the wild off of honey and locusts (just a fyi)

  • ......Honey in the trash bag.

  • I love Honey. I don't eat white sugar hardly ever. I don't have any here. Every morning I have two teaspoons of instant coffee with a tablespoon of honey and a little Whole Milk for a creamer. We have some Oklahoma Honey that is just wonderful. "Cheatwood's Pure Raw Honey". If you want? Send me a PO Box/Address, I would be glad to send a few jars. I have some every day, and I'm never sick. I go months without so much as a sniffle. Their number is 918-224-9342/cheatwoodhoney com. Not Spam!

  • Just a remark on the burn treatment thing, you would want to be REALLY sure you had completely cooled the burn (15 mins under running water if possible) before applying it. You wouldn't want to seal in that heat or have the honey warming through convection.

  • So when are you putting be hives in on your amazing property??? my Grandfather has raised bees for 40 plus years and there is nothing like fresh honey straight from the hive!!!

  • can be used as a bait for your traps.

  • Something to think about when you buy honey.

Not all the honey in stores is actually honey.

    Be careful:

    foodsafetynews . com /2011 /11/ tests-show-most-store-honey-isnt-honey/

  • Spot on!

RAW Honey, Unpasteurized in the ONLY way to go.

Cooking above 118F destroys all enzymes, which are benefitial to ones health.

Milk is too, buts thats another issue)

  • besides raw honey you should get something from your area, the bees use local flowers so people with allergy problems can get relief from local honey, so if you have hay feaver and you take a trip out of town you might want to hit up the local organic store.

ive had heartburn/indigestion really bad for about 12 years i stopped all over the counter stuff and healed it completely with peppermint tea and local raw honey, one cup of tea and 1 tea spoon of honey every day or when you feel discomfort

  • Johnny cakes and honey! A couple of those with a bit of meat along with a few greens and you're set.

  • Also if you add it with water and yeast and give it some time you can make MEAD.

    Viking Beer for everyone!

  • Doesn't sugar maple trees grow on you property or somewhere in the Ohio woodlands where you have access too? I'd like to know something about extracting that as a survival video.

  • Honey is good cough medicine..

  • Remember .. It really does need to be Raw to really count . RAW

  • I get a couple of extra packs of honey from restaurants and keep them in my EDC for times I need a little boost of energy!

  • 100% Pure Honey - " Why All The Bees Dying? with Owner Konrad Bouffard " from field to hive to table.

  • Local Raw honey...not store bought pasturized...but pure fresh local honey will also help build your tolerance for alergies. Alot of store bought honey has been filtered down so much it doesnt have any pollen in it, and while it still taste the same...it doesnt help with alergies.

  • aren't you afraid of Winnie the Pooh!!!??? if you have honey in your camp HE WILL COME!!!!!

  • A lot of old time strong men would use honey as thier pre training energy drink.

  • All commercial honey is no longer in fact honey, because all the pollen is filtered out. Whenever you can, buy local, pure honey.

  • @swjkie100 I noticed the other day that most of the honey at the store was artificial or "honey product". Whatever that is.

  • And to think I was just eating it because it tastses good

  • If honey was to attract bugs... but bugs attract birds... so if you put a little honey around your bird traps you'd have a better chance of catching a meal?

    Great video Dave.. as always.

    Thanks

  • Making a tea out of strawberry leaves is another all natural mild laxative.

  • Scientists have opened jars from Egyptian tombs 4- 6000 years old and it was as fresh as the day it was put in. As Dave said it is a great thing to have around. Also, if you have a festering wound and have no anti biotics.. put the honey down get a big pile of non stinging ants crush it all up and apply it to a wound. Ants are loaded with antibiotics.

  • hey dave honey is also a grateand fast way to raise your blood sugar if you are diabetic and your sugar drops

  • Winnie the pooh is food too... Lol.

  • i know honey is a good all around sweetner but have u every tried MOLASSES or its sometimes called sorgum. i would love to know your thoughts on it.

  • Thanks Dave!

  • Botulism: not to people less than one year of age.

Honey produced from the flowers of oleanders, rhododendrons, mountain laurels, sheep laurel, and azaleas may cause honey intoxication.Symptoms include dizziness, weakness, excessive perspiration, nausea, and vomiting. Less commonly, low blood pressure, shock, heart rhythm irregularities, and convulsions may occur, with rare cases resulting in death.

  • My Biggest Worry about store-ing honey during summer = Winne the Pooh.

  • I heard that 75% of honey on the market was not pure honey...

  • The American Heart Associations First Aid course recommends AGAINST putting honey, or any other home remedy, other than cool water on a burn. That is unless directed to do so by a doctor.

  • @CoastalBackWoods Well then! It must be true if a doctor gives it his best guess.

  • Dave,

First of all thank you so much for all that you've shared with us. A recipe my grandmother used to treat colds with is honey, lemon and whiskey all mixed in a shot glass. I just learned from Patriot Nurse booze is a natural cough suppressant.

  • @miamiarnisgroup yeah its a hot toddy, heres a simple recipie,

    Coffee Mug

    1 oz. Whiskey

    1 Tbsp. Sugar/Honey

    Fill with Hot Water

Throw a lemon peel into the mug as well.

  • Will it be possible to sell this video series on your website? Alot of good info in these videos and I would be the first in line to purchase it.

  • Just a thought... Dave do you carry a spare set of glasses with you? And what glasses do you reccomend that can stand a beating?

  • Greatest intro song ever man

  • Make sure you get "Real" honey not the Asian made knock off stuff... Food for thought.

  • Was that a chicken claw hanging from the army blanket of the wall of yurt behind you?

Thanks for sharing the various applications for which honey may be used.

  • another great thing about honey is that it never spoils. Bacteria and micro organisms can not live or grow on it.

  • Awesome Info. I love what you are doing on the "sundries". Very useful.

  • Our neighbor is a beekeeper and we only use his natural honey there is no comparison to store bought. Natural honey is sweeter and tastes better. We have stopped using sugar and use the honey to sweeten our coffee tea and use it to sweeten our canned goods that use sugar. Great video Thanks.

  • I carry honey in my kit always. stop every now and then to get buy a cup of coffee or tea at most corner marts and grab an extra packet or two from the condament bins. fits in your pocket or pack nicely!

  • Since honey is a good antibacterial, mabyee next time Cody drinks sock water, he should put some honey in with it...

  • @homeinthewhiteoaks lol i remember that episode

  • @homeinthewhiteoaks lol maybe, but they have been doing things like that for years I bet their immune systems are better than ours.

  • Great video, Dave! To add to your list: It works wonderfully as a hangover cure. Mix honey & water until the water gets cloudy. Makes you feel good in a couple of minutes (you have to keep drinking it, though. It has to "eclipse" the hangover, or you'll start to feel rotten again). Seems to work for when dogs aren't feeling good (some cannine medicine). Spartans lived on honey for a month in training. Romans used it for stab wounds. Egyptians used it for sword wounds, as well.

  • Great videos, Dave. Manuka honey is used as wound dressing in many British hospitals because it kills drug-resistant germs, like MRSA and staph and most others as well. Some US hospitals are also starting to use it. It also kills germs internally. I keep some in a lip balm tin in my first aid kit. I also have local raw honey for general use. The Manuka honey is from New Zealand, the only place bees can get to Manuka (tea tree) plants. I'd buy US if I could, but we can't produce it here.

  • so that's why you nearly killed yourself to get honey on Dual Survival... haha

  • Always a pleaure Dave.

  • my late father developed an ulcer on his leg, nothing they tried would heal it, in the end the Dr went to the local bee keepers, got raw honey, spread it on dads leg, with regular applications it healed quite quick, I always thought the Dr a quack, proved me wrong.. Cy mate

  • Honey is great stuff. It's anti biotic qualities are extremely useful. I've got a friend who's finger was cut off except for a flap of skin. He applied honey to the wound area over the stitching & it healed very nicely & much more quickly than is normal. Like milk though, the government forces the destruction of most or much of what's good about honey through heat treatment. This isn't done for our health, that's the pretext. Commonality in every FDA decision is favoring big business over small.

  • I dont think its very multi purpose but you could keep milk it the creek in a little rock.well type thing to keep it cold and from going.bad

  • seeing this guy's diet whilst in the yurt, he's the last guy I'd take advice from regarding nutrition etc

  • @peasantchurl his diet is fit for those who are outdoors. natives of the far north in alaska eat more fat in a day than you eat in weeks and they have great health because they burn so much energy.

  • @johnnyboy922 good point bud, plus my grand pa lived to be 97 years old, worked at a saw mill till he was 74 and he ate salted pork, eggs and biscuits every morning and every night had some form of salted pork to flavor the veggies with the meal. Just goes to show modern medical intelligence aint always as accurate as people think....

  • @TheRedneckViking Genetics is king. Some people are meant to die younger. That's just how it is. Don't do anything stupid and enjoy whatever time you have here is my theory.

  • @TheRedneckViking Man that is soooo true!!

  • @TheRedneckViking Eh, it's all about "risk factors" in today's medical science. Statistics only give you the general picture. Pretty much if you feel good about your body and your health, and you're eating lard out of a can, it's a lot different from if you're overweight and eat the same kinds of horrible things.

  • Dave, I am a beekeeper and have a quick tip on packing honey. Clean out toothpaste tubes with hot water, and syringe, and filled them with honey using a childrens liquid medication type syringe. Heat the honey up to make the job easier. I have done this with full sized tubes and the small travel size. Screw on caps work best. My grandmother had low blood sugar issues and she kept a smaller tube in her purse. I always took a large tubes on backpacking trips and did not pack any other sugars.

  • Honey is also natures hair gel. Great Video, loving the Yurt series.

  • Thanks for the great info, Dave.

Two of my sisters have taken up beekeeping after my dad, who died last year and left us with a bee colony. Great stuff.

    Cheers and Merry Christmas

  • hey Dave i was wondering why you do not have a good gerber or leatherman multi tool in your pack. I find a indespensible tool in my own pack?

  • @j12elliott he carries a Gerber Deisel multi -tool at all times.. it is part of his EDC.

  • @Penthraxxus No it is a Leatherman Core

  • @wildernessoutfitters Sorry Bout that. It was in your earlier Videos that you were carrying a Deisel or that you recommended the Deisel for EDC. But, my point is/was that you actually do always carry a multi-tool as an integral part of your EDC. I carry a SOG Paratool...have for at least a decade if not more. So peace. no harm no foul.

Love the videos. Keep 'em coming.

  • Thanks for the video Dave. I would like to add one thing. Honey dabbed in the corner of the eye relaxes them and improves Night Vision. It will burn slightly but not for long and you can feel the difference right away. Great for my old eyes. The comment on local honey is true if it is not over processed. Keep them comming...JJD

  • who would of known how good honey really is.....?.....

  • True that. I've been using honey for burns and cuts my whole life. I always try and buy it from a local market. Straight from the bees butt. Bears love honey, so keep a little bit stored in a big clay pot, so the bear will get his head stuck in there and you can catch him.

  • Honey is natures ballistol! LOL. Good for everything!

  • @mma4I. Actually none bro. We just forgot about them with what has become a lazy existence, lol. Remember people knew about and used these aspects of nature for 1000's of years and just in the last 200 years man has for some reason decided he was to smart to use what God and mother earth provide for us lol. Thanx for people like Dave here propels eyes are being reopened to what life really is.

  • Dave like your videos a lot just curious about one thing do you still have a scar from the dual survival episode where you set yourself on fire with black powder?

  • Another great vid bro. Another thing with honey, it's great for a sore throat. Not only for its antibiotic properties but it also soothes it by coating ur throat. Just wanted to throw that in cause I know u leave some stuff out so the viewers can get involved in the conversation lol. Keep it up bro and they will be inventing special awards to give ya lol

  • Damn I didn't know that honey had so many uses and its from nature. I wonder how many other things nature produces that is beneficial to humans that we don't know about.

  • Peanut butter and honey sandwiches are the shit.

  • Yeah Honey is great. The best Honey is Really Raw brand. It has the pollen and other stuff in it. It is not filtered just taken from the hive and jarred up. The cap of pollen and such is great on bread or in it. Or I just eat it from a spoon. 1 T raw honey and 1 T raw vinegar is also good for Arthritis. I was ready for a wheelchair the doc had one in his office ready for me to give up and sit in. I started on the honey/vinegar in hot water 2X a day and I have had no symptoms since 1998.

  • have u thought about ginger or garlic? i know they both work great for cold and immune system.

  • It makes good trap bait when mixed with peanut butter too.

  • as for the imune system, honey that is from around your area works best even for alergies.

  • Not easy finding process pack food that does not have monosodium glutamate. Fortunately I am not one prone to head aches, but when I eat msg it will bring on a head ache. I suspect those preservative induce dehydration as well meaning,... more head ache.

  • Anyone who dislikes these videos is a LOSER. I give them a thumbs up before the video even plays.

  • I have always heard the same thing here in Texas about the allergies, I buy raw unfiltered local honey on a regular basis and I haven't had any type of allergies since I was a kid, my girl friend used to suffer horrible allergies and when she moved in with me and started using honey instead of sugar in her coffee, she hasn't suffered from them since, so I'm a big believer in honey!

  • The antiseptic features, do they work with any honey? I mean the industrialized stuff as well, or must the honey be untreated, or kind of organic? Thanks for your your answer. - Parzival from Germany.

  • @Parzival64 there are several ingredients in hony that cause the antiseptic effects. most industrialized honey (and cheap honey in general) has mostly contain small to zero amounts of honey and is mostly based on pure industrial sugar. this wont work of cause. u can avoid that simply by reading the ingredients :) - amfortas from germany.. btw, good job there with klingsor, never got that bastard^^

  • Nice Commercial for Honey ; )

  • Another great video Dave, keep it up! Lovin' this series!

  • Just make sure it is not processed honey such as that that comes in that little bear :) This may sound funny but you can mix it with a little bit of moonshine to help with soar throats and you can also burn the moonshine as stove fuel. So honey and moonshine go a long way :)

  • You can make chewing gum if you mix honey with melted pine sap as well.

  • Honey is an excellent source of electrolytes when mixed with warm water, lemon juice and salt. It can also be used as medicinal for sore throats and coughing.

  • ALSO: Other "Perfect Pack Foods" * Roasted, Salted Almonds * Turkey Jerky * CLIFF Oatmeal-Rasin Bars * Nature Valley Granola Bars * NITRO-PAK Survival Food Tabs (Tablets). These tablets come 180 to a 2-qt "canteen-tub" and provide 240 calories per day (12 tabs per day = 15 days ~ 10 yr shelf ~ all essential vitamins, minerals, nutrient ... "15 nutrients) ... Reviews state that you will still be hungry and lose weight but ithey will keep you going while you search for other sources of nutrition.

  • Lol I remember operation pooh bear from dual survivor

  • When i drove big truck one of the truck stop i use to stop at had bee capsuals.the truck stop was a Petro.do not remembe the company that sold the product but when i was taking these bee pollin capsuals i never once got sick .and i had more energy

  • No disrespect but does anyone call you Dave Santabury? :) I am loving the beard and the videos, keep 'em coming man!

  • @tdurden025 Santabury! Hah. Merry Christmas everyone. Dave, have you ever made Ghee?

  • Can't beat a bit of honey in coffee!

How does maple syrup compare in terms of medicinal properties?

  • MY RESEARCH (FWIW) : *I* want honey that is (1) RAW & Organic, (2) Derived from Wild-Flowers and (VERY impotantly) (3) WAS PROCESSED *WITHOUT* HEATING ! . ** Many "expert" sources seem to agree, on these major points. I was concerned that the bottle I carry would get squeezed and pop-open inside my pack so I used Gorilla Glue to secure the pop-top dispenser and I must un-screw the lid to open it. I also store it in it's own dry-pouch, outside my main compartment. AVOID Cheap Clover Honey !!

  • Great video I've always stressed honey being an essential prep. This reminds me of the dual survival episode you did when cody chewed your head off for trying to get some wild honey Haha id have to take cody's side on that one. I think you only did that as a producers request... right? Or do you STILL think anaphylactic shock is worth honey in a survival situation?

  • Great video as always. Thanks again Dave "Pooh-Bear" Canterbury!

  • That was an important list. I keep mine in large mouth canning jars. It's easier to get at the bottom latter, and rodents go for in plastic. Plastic crushes as well, and honey is too valuable to risk it. The common compliant is that crystallizes. Just warm it up gently, and there's yet another reason to transfer honey into glass. And with a metal lid, glass jars do not 'breath' as does plastic. And glass releases no chemicals into the food. I will only use plastic if I can't avoid it.

  • Awesome video Dave, can you talk about vinegar...

  • I have been carrying honey sticks or straws in my pack for years. I would highly recommend them for everyone's kit. They are clean, no cap to pop open in your bag, no bulk. I keep some in my mess kit and a couple in my first aid kit. Have a nice day.

  • What spices do you carry with you?

  • DAMN... Am trying the Honey warm water....

  • Dave, you're the only Honey I need. Haha jk. Another nice vid.

  • Dave, I have been wondering if you are useing a sweetened coco mix or not. Just wondering because i always carry coco and end up putting a container of sugar in the pack as well when im out for a few days.

  • Greetings from germany.great series you do,thanks dave, could you maybe, speak a little about boots, what kind of boots you wear and why.I think boots are an important issue.

    merry christmas to you

  • Dave, My family is in the honey business, and I can tell you that store bought honey is no good. all the awesome qualities Honey has are more or less cooked out of it in the process of pasteurizing it. And most all store bought Honey is mixed with some kind of foreign honey. The only Honey the is good for the body is all Natural RAW honey from and local bee keepers. And any honey you get from a local bee keeper will help with any local allergies.

  • @whitestreak88 Thanks for that. We have a local honey producer and we should also support the locals, be they at the farmer's market or any opportunity and keep the local small farmer in business as well as the local economy.

  • great for a sore throat also

  • Awesome video Dave, thanks for sharing, I love honey and now I have an reason to carry it in my bug out bag.

  • When I go hiking I carry those little honey packets from KFC. Never knew they could be used in other ways I just mix them in with a bit of pancake mix to make them taste better.

  • Great series! I appreciate all the work your doing.

  • On that show I'll never forget you going after that honey lol... support your local bee keeper. :)

  • Honey with wild Echinacia makes a better less bitter tea. Thanks for the yurt videos. a wealth of good info.

  • a teaspoon of local honey a day will also cure your allerges

  • @12221967bigben thanks for posting this. We need to get back to knowing where our food comes from and supporting our local farmers. There are tons of honey farmers (even urban bee keepers) that can provide people with fresh raw honey. I highly doubt the honey bear that dave is using is anything more than sugar. To get all the real benefits you have to use real honey.

  • Just last month Coast to Coast AM had Dr. Michael Farley, a naturopathic doctor, on their program and he said that one cup of raw honey with a couple tablespoons of ginger would cure food poisoning or an E-coli or Listeria infection within a couple of hours.

  • Dave I tried the flour bath..I added a dash of sugar with mine and a dash of honey... The women wont leave me alone. I have made myself into a sexy man biscuit.

  • Dave, have you ever considered producing this series as a television show ? Judging by the following you have on YT I bet it would be very popular. The Adventures of Dave and Harvey !!

  • Comment removed

  • @Heavyb2u Are you answering Daves questions for him now ? Come on bro... you really think Dave doesn't profit from his Pathfinder School, TV appearances, and the items he sells on his web-site ? Dave is very skilled and blessed enough to do this for a living. Profit is how he supports his family.

  • @nerblebun I probably should have made myself more clear. I see no problem in profiting from teaching. Dave knows his stuff and if he can make a living from it, then more power to him. I was simply saying that to me, the whole point of YT is to teach and learn what we can with any who are willing to watch our vids.

  • @Heavyb2u I agree. The yurt videos average around 8,000 views and are very informative. I'm just saying if it were on....say the Discovery Channel... Dave would be sharing his vast knowledge with possibly millions. Money in his pocket and many, many people better off.

  • Sweet

  • Dave, don't take this as gospel but I have heard from lots of folks here in East TN that if you eat locally produced honey you build up a resistance to allergies because you are also ingesting minute amounts of the local pollen. If true, that would be another beneficial usage of honey.

    Another outstanding video as always.

  • @RCseeker thats actually true because the bee takes the pole and creates honey

  • @RCseeker that is true about your local honey and allergies. I've seen it work.

  • @RCseeker Will your right, I have heard the same thing also. In mid TX

  • @RCseeker that is true!

  • @RCseeker pretty interesting ..would like to know if it works here in germany aswell ..i have a lot off friends with pollen allergic..have a good one...and pray with me for an answer from dave ..

  • @RCseeker your right but to work it must be from a local region

  • @RCseeker yeah man it's totaly true.Same with animal allergies..if you play with animals as a kid you won't have allergies in adult age...simple as that..:D

  • @RCseeker I've heard from people who move a lot that you can get raw local pollen direct from apparist. When you move to a new area, eat a spoonful and you've instantly given your body a sample of the local environment to work with to prepare for allergies.

  • audiens descration edvised !! A squirrel gizer production video ..

  • AND YOU CAN MAKE MEAD!!!!!!

  • I use it to make mead.

  • Hi Dave, I was wondering if all the information and the experiences you've had while living in this Yurt and producing this series (along with the 21st Century Longhunter series) will make it to paper in some kind of book? I've been scribbling notes down while watching both series but I'm sure there's a lot of info you've come across that hasn't made it to the video series. Would you consider writing something to accompany the series?

Best wishes to you and yours for the holidays!

    K

  • DAVE ,google--- Tests Show Most Store Honey Isn't Honey, then click on foodsafetynews , might be something to cheak out, but i agree 1000% honey is DA BOMB!!!!

  • @12221967bigben ---- wow thats crazy ill never buy honey at a store again unless it's from an organic store or just go to the farmers market

  • @12221967bigben I think he knows the difference between real honey (the good raw unheated, unfiltered) and the crap on the store shelves.

  • @roargathor we're not talking about raw v. processed. The thing is that most store bought honey is NOT HONEY it's fake. Due to a big shortage of bees. They are making ''honey flavor'' (fine print) out of high fructose corn surrup and that means that all those mwdicinal properties are not there. THIS IS A VERY IMPORTANT FACT. we really want Dave to get the message on this one.

  • @homeagent It's not hard to read the ingredients on the label. If it doesn't say RAW unfiltered Honey, it's not worth the money.

  • @roargathor You're right. That's a good one, I'm using that :] Stay healthy bro.

  • @12221967bigben Honey can be tested for purity: pure honey will burn, pour some honey into a cup and it'll spin clockwise, pure honey will not dissolve in water but rather form a lump and sink or you can pour honey onto a piece of blotting paper, pure honey will not be absorbed nor will it leave stains.

  • Great info on the multiple uses of honey, Dave. Honey is definitely one of my favorite sundries and I use it often during the week. I try to get locally made honey whenever possible, as the different "flavors" of honey, other than the common clover variety, that are available is amazing. Some of my current favorites that I use are buckwheat, orange blossom, and fireweed. One of my long term aspirations is to have a plot of land like you and keep bees on it to produce my own honey some day.

  • Nice vid Dave, you can also mix honey with surgar for a nice face or body scrub, gets the dead skin off.

  • @karenchakey and the bears will love you too! ;)

  • dont forget about the bears, the honey will attract them too.
