And for the people who find this "cruel", how in the hell are open-casket funerals any better!? There are funeral pyres raging all over America in the form of foul smelling BBQ pits. Except, they put the fire out half way through and bury the bodies in their own stomachs. And we "westerners" don't just put bodies in a hole and cover it with soil, we seal the body in a concrete box so that the decomposing remains will not seep into the ground water and make the living population ill. We have reasons for what we do, beyond satisfying cultural beliefs. Science can show us why this Indian practice is unhealthy. Science and fact > religion.
