before exporting you will need to have UVs on the mesh and then go to Texture Map sub-palette and click on New From Polypaint. are you familiar with these techniques? I would be happy to help you through email. do you have an email address I can contact you at?
Hi thanks for the reply, I am a newbie, so can you give me a workflow for this? I have to export as an OBJ as it's to another department who uses cad type software and they cannot open ztools. So far I have selected a texture, did my zproject, exported as obj, but when importing it again to check, all is gone exept the ball and it's matcap red wax:)
yes that is because an OBJ will only store the sculpted changes not the color. you will need to export a texture of what you did as well. why are you just not saving your ball out as a Tool? This will store everything.
Hi nice vid man, how do I export my finished zprojected file? I finished a ball as well, using the zproject brush, Now I need to export it as a .OBJ file. I did it but as soon as you import the .OBJ back into zbrush, all the zprojected texture is gone & only the ball shows?
All you have to do is select a texture in the Texture Map sub-palette. You do not have to make it a polymesh. However in 3.5R3 this will not work until the bug is fixed.
@ 0:52 how did you apply the texture to the plane without making it a polymesh 3d?
And how did the plane get textured when you just selected a new texture? I repeat the steps and when I select a texture nothing happens to the plane. o.0 stays white, the only way i have to have the texture on the plane is using the drag-rectangle stroke, but then I have to make the plane a polymesh 3d and subdivide multiple times to be able to get the texture right without pixelating.
For some reason, when I hit W, select my area and then hit Q, it doesn't draw from the texture. I am not sure what is wrong.
