If all you need is the 'chemistry set', an energy source and a 'medium' for the processes of life to play out - I wonder why everything with those three components hasn't turned into life? If ever there was an egregious oversimplification of biological processes, this is it.
A real shame, it's a great series but perhaps he should have stuck to physics, something he actually knows something about.
@jeremyeharris I agree that it is a dramatic oversimplification, but the show would have been hours long if he went into detail about things like the forming of nucleic acids, the evolution of eukaryotic cells, etc. He never stated that the formation of life was simple.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe he said that this 'medium' was water, and mentioned that no other known planet currently has any.
