NightEnd is one of my favorite players. He always uses unconventional unit compositions and isn't a slave to sentries+colossus like most toss players.
NightEnd should've switched his tech to air. Morrow macro'd up and ate every army sent for him. He never even pushed into his opponent's base. It's almost like a turtle Terran playstyle.
The problem is not every unit in the game is useful. A protoss trying to play with archons instead of colossi is like a zerg trying to counter MMM without blings or FG. I respect him if he refuses to use FF because it's OP but colossi aren't imba.
Watching this not tip-top Protoss player loose his blink stalker-heavy composition to the most simple thing zerg can do as far as composition and control makes me lmao at Idra and his rage quits against blink stalkers from Kiwi and Cruncher.
Such a close-minded baby when it comes to just thinking about what's going on and what needs to be done. And his mechanics are SOOO good, its a crazy conundrum.
LOL at everyone saying "herp derp using sentries to Forcefield." That would have played even more into morrow's favor as he would just drop the banelings into the ball that was trapped by there own forcefields.. then even funnier would have been the fungal growth to finish of whatever Nightend had left. You can't just keep massing sentries because then you don't have enough gas to get higher end better units. Harass is the proper response. Nightend did nothing to get back in the game.
Your forcefield comment assumes that the Protoss got surrounded to begin with. You don't have to surround yourself with forcefields, you can actually create walls and hallways, not just boxes. Yes zerg can still drop on the other side of forcefields, but the toss can just back up and create another wall.
@MadBagOfHorses You comment assumes that the Protoss will just be able to back up once the entire army is fungal growth'd.. Sentries die very easily to banelings. Sentries were not the answer to this unit comp, or to try and come back. The toss player needed to do some mineral line harass to slow Morrow's macro down to allow the toss time to get a larger unit comp. I do however think that sentries early may have helped but not later.
@joelpalkia definitely...he already know what his opponent is doing, why don't you switch from collosus and some air forces...very disappointed for a protoss player...
Crota you really need to pay more attention to the minimap, its so often that some attack is happening somewhere while you are completely oblivious to it. It happened both this game and last game, and in many games before.
@kb27787 or buff the psi storm with more radius or less time to do the damage since fungal growth > psi storm which sucks and zerg had an effective, easy way to damage all the mineral line with one drop of banelings and toss aren't able to do that with psi storm as efficiently as zerg (which is illogical since toss are supposed to be the advanced, tech race)
@agostinho1234 Are you kidding me? Have you ever see storm drops? WhiteRa does them all the time. You load up 3-4 HT's in a Warp prism.. drop them behind the mineral line.. do 3-4 storms. Pick up the HT's and go hide in a corner until they have enough energy to do it again. This is much more cost efficient since you are only using energy.. and if you wanted you can merge them into archons to do even more damage. You should probably L2P before commenting stupid comments like that.
Remove logic based on lore from the equation. That's just stupid to include in an argument about balance.
Fungal Growth actually does ~40 damage per 75 energy whereas storm does 80 damage per 75 energy. Fungal immobilizes. Both do their damage at the same DPS, so I think that's roughly balanced.
Have you ever seen a double Colossi in double Warp Prism drop? Really detrimental to loose, but easy to put together and does sick damage. IMO you are choosing ignorance here, like IdrA
@MadBagOfHorses fungal growth immobilizes and you can chain that. psi storm you can avoid and take less damage, so it's not the same DPS in a real game. double colossi would be good in a warp prism if it could happen (8 cargo for colossus). And put the logic away when talking about balance? I won't answer that! I really enjoy your jokes. hahahaha
Dodging the AoE not considered FG and PS do identical damage per second, FG does its ~40 in 4s, PS does its 80 in 8s. I said double colossi in double warp prism, meaning two warp prisms involved. Can you not read the second 'double'?
And I said take your lore based logic out, not logic in general. You said something about Toss being a tech race. That doesn't matter. Thanks for laughing with me at yourself.
@pklong88 Indeed it is 80/4s. Which means it basically has double the DPS of FG (a little more against non-armored, at 20 vs 8 DPS, and a little less against armored at 20 vs 11.7... I don't know if they round up or down [or at all?] for the 46.8 damage that 36 + 30% represents). FG pinning units but being a single burst has its advantages and disadvantages as compared to Psi Storm being a 4 second, static damage field as well, which can make mineral like harass better overall (see WhiteRa).
@GamerNic according to liquipedia, the damage is rounded up to 47. IMO i think those 2 spells are ok, it's just that infestor's speed should be kept like be4 for better micro and the fact that HTs move slowly already makes up for the gap in dps.
I give it to nighend for playing non standard. I guess he could work more on the build, maybe add some phenixes for air support/harass or something. He also has to work on his macro as well.
zergs complain about protoss imba. i dont know why protoss' dont bitch just as much as zergs do about infestors. zerg complainers are the worst. ff's are op? i say infestors are op.
@vtech236 well nightend had ht´s, they can feedback right after warp in. That would have been better use for them rather than spamming psi and getting neural parasited. Fungal shouldnt prevent movement of massive units and archons could have extra shield armor imo though. Colossi+sentry still rapes zerg and blink stalkers take care of corruptors and toss gets them way before zerg gets ultras.
That was a great game.. really enjoyed getting a good view of macro zerg by Morrow, and his creep spread was amazing, covering about 3/4 of the map!.. I enjoy watching these zerg v protoss/terran games, and it is definitely helping me in improving how i play
Crota, is there anywhere I can get my hands on this replay?
