...So I was floating around in empty, white space (inverted space?) and saw a bottle labeled "drink me" and after drinking, I started shrinking and also finally found a planet. I was going to fall towards it but never reached ground because I would keep getting smaller! I was in a TINY bit of trouble there!
Fortunately I realized that it had to be a dream and turned it into a lucid, using god-mod powers to escape.
AESOP: Don't drink or eat random stuff you don't know about!
That last part looks like a cross between a skull and asparagus. Now I want to see a mendelbulb flight sim, with headlights so you can do fractal cave diving. :]
@bib993 Funny, I always considered these videos with a fixed camera, with the fractal rotating. That way, when zooming, the camera isn't getting smaller, the fractal is actually getting bigger.
I wonder if this concept could be used to add detail to normal texture mapped 3D scenes such as games. Like if the camera got close enough to a surface that the texture would be blurry, a 3D fractal algorithm could be applied to simulate an endless amount of detail.
Basically salvia

Try to touch the fractal... ^^

Awesome. I wonder if you can buy a program to experiment with "mandlebulbs."

@keytoothed
There are free Mandelbulbs programs out there now. Have a look on fractalforums . com.

I NEED a video game that takes place on one of these. Like Descent, except it short-circuits your brain.

Unbelievable! I have dreamed of fractal flyovers for years but I never imaged it would be this great. Do you have one where you fly around inside?

with Ultrafractal :)

Would you like to share your piece of code that made this possible?

Isn't that a 2d app ?

@steadiworkz & ZebNemeth
Ultrafractal can do 3D as well. Have a look at fractalforums . com where I find my inspiration and tools. PM me for more details.

and a pretty good CPU/GPU

Just a quad core i7 920. It don't think UF uses the GPU

A bit creepy. Specially at the end: looks like an alien skull :-P
Very nice. 5 stars.
