this fan has that classic air flow sound box fans still have to this day maybe its because of the vent design that gives these fans that vrbvrbvrb effect
They sure dont make them like how they used to. I give that fan 9/10 score due to the fact thats been well taken cared of and probably works 10xxx better than any other fan sold on todays market. Great product of the 50's...
My Aunt Bobby had a fan like this. Come summer, we kids would stay at her place in Ohio an the fan ran day and night and was moved from room to room to trying keep her house cool. That sound was one of the memories I have of summer time in the late 1950's. Aunt Bobby got rid of the box fan when she tripped over it and it cut her toe.
She used window air conditioners from 1963 on till her death in 1985.
Nice fan, I have one identical to it. One question - how is the back grill/motor assembly mounted to the body of the fan? Mine looks like it was glued (no screws) and it needs repaired.
I have an odd one of these. It is 8"deep and the whole motor and blade assy. is supposed to oscillate. I need to restore it. The bottom of the frame is rusted out.
i have an identical one to this i found it in the back seat of a corvair deep in the woods behind my grandmas. it is ruuustyyyy. the blades still spin nice though. the motor is dead and the switch is long gone. i am going to put a 1980's 3 speed robeson industry's boxfan motor on it. than i will restor the fan because it is still solid
ok so my robeson motor is smaller than the original motor and cant handle the deeply pitched four blades. so i checked the original motor for continuity and 2 0f the three wiers are good so i hooked up the two wires to a lead cord and i got a spark where the cord enters the motor but it did spin up. maybe there is hope for the original motor???. can you read me the motor specks on your fan please. cant read mine.

Lasko is a very good company. They really should remake these and sell them as high velocity box fans. It would be that simple

Beautiful fan, with a lovely hum to it, probably if you took a modern boxfan to it it would probably shatter it! XD

So much better than the 20" fan I made a short video about.

What a difference between the vintage and modern Lasko fan. The modern ones are so light and cheap.

There was another fan like this one on ebay. I sure wish I could have bid on it before the auction ended. :(

That is a sweet fan, and a cool design too. And the switch makes the same metallic "ting-ting" noise that the one on my Eskimo does.
