  • my question is why on earth would a shelter be considering adopting out a 1 month old puppy? I would believe that the shelter that would adopt out a 1mth puppy would adopt it out to anyone.

  • @mach7mach10 Some shelters spay and neuter dogs at 1 month old. So why not adopt them out at one month old?

  • @bnlgeekychic I don't agree with spaying/neutering so young either. A puppy is best left with their mother until 12 weeks of age, though most people go with the 8 week rule. A puppy at 1mth is hardly walking, hardly eating solids and no reputable shelter would be adopting out a pup so young.

  • @mach7mach10 But the fact of the matter is that with the cut in funding and overpopulation of vet clinics, they fix them and move them out as soon as their eyes open. It's a sad fact but, working in a vet clinic, I've seen a ton of adopted pets who are 8 weeks or younger who have been spayed/neutered and then adopted out. Also, 2 shelters near me charge people upwards of $400 for a purebred dog as compared to a mix.

  • @bnlgeekychic maybe i'm just lucky and live in an area with a shelter that actually cares about their rescues. Our shelter will NOT adopt out anything under 2mths old, and does not spay/neuter, but provides a voucher for spay/neuter when the animal is 6mths old.

  • @mach7mach10 you are also in canada....I'm in the USA....almost every shelter I've volunteered at spays in house. Also, we have a shelter that is near by that euthanizes any pitbull that comes through the door. I'm not saying it's right but it's not unusual to adopt pets out that young.

  • My aunt got a Puppy once and named it LittleBit. It was quite young but boy did it grow. Quite ironic for a Great Dane/Neopolitan Mastiff mix to be called that.

    She loved him anyways.

My Godmother had a Cat get out of the house once and they couldn't find it. Two months later they went to the shelter to get one of her housemates a new cat and there he was. XD. She'd stopped checking with the shelter after a month.

  • lol i would never sell a puppy to a person like that!

  • Thank you for this series.....they're all so funny, and close to reality. Our shelter staff loves them. Please Keep Them Coming!!!!!
