  • The car can charge from any regular (normal) electric socket in just about any country from110V to 240V. The socket seen inside the garage in this video is a standard UK type of socket, just like you'd have in your kitchen to plug in a kettle, for example. Cool stuff, that's true.

  • You Are Making The Future Mate Cooll Stuuf

  • what about a regurlar electric outlet?

  • It's a fantastic idea, but unfortunately it cannot simply work for everybody.. some people have to park round the corner from their home how on earth can you drape cables across the footpath? You simply cannot, fine if you own a garage and driveway but not everybody does. Who's to say that people won't also tamper with your plug socket or cable, or even people who would unplug your car or steal your cable? Some of these idea's need to be re-addressed.

  • The same battery technology as used in Apple's iPhones and other devices is indeed the same technology as is used in the electric Smart car battery pack. Known as Lithium-ion. There's effectively just a very big iPhone battery attached under the car, except that this one is big voltage and big current so very big power. When you accelerate the car hard it can instantly deliver 30KW to the motor. That's the same as 30 x 1KW mains electric fires, all at the same time. That's serious power!

  • @greentravelguidestv 140Km on a charge costing 50 pence,,perfect for probably 95% of car users day to day needs!,,,,wonder how much it costs to buy the car?,,,that is usually the rub.

  • petrol flap ???

  • what we need is an electric car running on iphone batteries

  • so you plug the charger out there in the open??? can't somene steal it?

  • @ShyToDaChiCity1 The curly yellow is just a mains power cord and the charger is inside the car. So mains electricity at mains voltage goes straight into the socket, which is under the flap that would normally have the fuel cap under it. The power cord does include an RCD breaker in it. That's the black thing with the on button on it in the lead seen in the video. It's just a safety cut out device, just the same as you would use on a mains powered lawn mower for example.

  • @ShyToDaChiCity1 That is a concern I have.

  • Mmmm. A good target for children and idiots to spoil your day (Let's go and cut his charger wire)...

  • @roglowe Two power cords come with the car, one as seen in the video, the other with a regular domestic plug on one end for use in public places. This plug, plugs into a public charging socket. A locking cover clips over it, so it can't easily be removed by anyone else. Cutting through a live mains cable wouldn't be a very sensible idea at any time, even though this cable is protected by an RCD breaker. We think it's no more likely to be cut than say having your tyres let down.

  • probably around 27.000 30.000 must be the price ;-)

  • How much is it and where I can get it in germany????????

  • the best car would be with solar roof!!...:P..about how much euros that smart costs?...

  • ah those silly brits with their right side driver side cars and their convenient (abiet slightly contradictory) solutions to pollution

  • I can see some idiot stealing the cable in a blink or unplugging it just for fun.

  • We understand the problems of the carbon footprint of electricity production to charge the car. So we've been a using small wind turbine to generate the power to charge the car and are having solar panels fitted to our house.

  • The Electric Car Revolution has been Killed by OiL Companies.

  • You mean your not neccecarly trash the planet as much or not at all, depends on where the electricity comes from, like a coal plant or a electric farm. It realy depends on where it comes from and wether or not your trashing the planet. Think about that.

  • If you use this car in an area where your electricity is generated by a high tech modern power station, not wind, solar etc but a normal power station, the carbon emissions per Kilometre can be as low as 12mg. The deisel Smart car is the lowest emissions fossil fuel production car in the world and rates at 88mg per Kilometre. However, if the electricity comes from an old style coal power station, the emissions will be about the same as the deisel car. Still not bad though.
