I watched it again, after like 8 years, i cried when tootles hot his marbles, i guess it's from the sentimental value this film has gotten from me when i was young
Hook is the movie that the Alice in Wonderland remake wanted to be but failed. in that movie, Alice spent her entire time in Wonderland assuming that everything was just a dream, which removes us as an audience from feeling the sense of enchantment that she should be feeling. in Hook, Peter comes to realization in a short time and we are swept away, just as he is, by Never Never Land
they need to make the next movie where robin williams turns into hook. i can see a sick plote where he turns to the dark side......WHY WONT YOU LISTEN STEVEN
This trailer may be fun to watch, but man it makes it seem more like those crappy 90's slasher films that were based on children's stories like Snow White: A Tale of Terror or Pinoccho's Revenge.
Despite this trailer not representing the film very well I must say I still LOVE the film itself and its one of my favorties from my childhood.
I agree that this trailer doesn't do the movie justice, but it's smart in a weird way because it doesn't show you ANYTHING about neverland, so when you watch the movie everything is truly magical. Unlike a lot of movies today that show us the best scenes in the movie and leaves you expecting more during the movie:/
I wondered where i heard this trailer theme before, Nightmare Before Christmas deleted scenes on the bonus dvd. Been nagging at me all day lol. One of the best family films made but the trailer seems alittle bit like a horror lol.
its an average film really. i only realise this now as an adult. and it definately is one of speilgbergs weakest but i still love it though coz it was my childhood movie. some have the goonies, my generation have hook!
I believe the "not so perfect" stems from the fact that Spielberg himself openly admits to being disappointed by the final result. Which I think is garbage, because this movie is pure gold!
Honestly I wouldn't even call this a kids film it's a Family movie. The quality of this film is incredible. The budget was not cheap, the cast were an all star line up, the music was some of the best I've heard and it was directed by an award winning legend. The story was incredibly well done injecting you with magic and humour. Honestly I used to watch this over and over it was the perfect feel food movie. I wish they would do a kids film like this they'll never nail a masterpeice like this.
A true re-watchable, i dont think people do hate it, just critics who have an opinion like everybody else, everybody is a critic and i say this was the best peter pan movie ever. mystifying and enjoyable with a great cast and crew.
This was a nice movie but, I felt the ending was a little sad that Peter Pan left the lost boys to go back home. A better ending for this movie could have been that Peter Pan was inviting the lost boys to come and live with him and the rest of the family. It was also sad how Rufio died just when he started to like Peter Pan but, it was nice how Peter Pan made the other lost boy named Thud the next leader of the lost boys since Thud was the tallest one.
What the fuck is with the description... This is one of the best peter pan movies! the other one they made that wasnt animated was far too cheesy and clearly to much of a chick flick :/
hm i bet they purposely didn't show never-never land at all in this trailer so people would be dazzled by it...it looked simply incredible the first time is aw this movie!
In my opinion of all the "peter pan" based movies this one is my favorite! A great cast and story, but I must say I always die when the lost boys and peter have that huge meal thats like my dream dinner!! xD I also grew up with this movie! =)
This is actually a really good trailer I think. It makes you want to watch it again, but also doesn't give to much of the film away. I can think of dozens of films with trailers that contain too many spoilers (Shawshank Redemption is a good example).
Hook is one of the Movies i hold very special to me in 1991. this movie was so magical i took it home with me and made my toys more worthy to play with. i had dreams that i would fly with peter. and play with the lost boys. then i woke up in 2011?? i hate growing up
Watching the trailer I thought it would get people itching to go if they showed some scenes in actual netherland but actually that makes it perfect cos when people see it in the cinema they have no expectations and it'll be like "welcome to nether;and" I wasn't even born yet to watch this in the cinema! <:( but seeing it however is valuable enough
@DoctorExplosion I don't if they're surposed to talk in a series of clicks, i'm only just pointing out that this idea is a bit awckwad but oh well, i shoudn't complain about their ideas for this movie, I still think it's still a bit awckwad but the storyline is right though.
How is this movie in comparison to the 2003 Peter Pan film with Jeremy Sumpter and Rachel Hurdwood? Because I love that version. :) is there a Wendy in this one?
@cindyrella83 In this movie, Wendy is a grandma. Peter Pan is old and have children that Hook took to Neverland. And Peter doesn't remember that he is Peter Pan. I prefer Hook thank the 2003 movie.
How Can This Movie Have 11 Dislikes?I May B 16.But I Grew-Up With This Move.Eveytime I Went Over 2 My Grampas He Would Put This On,Then We Would Watch It.& I Think Thouo's 11 People Shood B Thowin In2 The Boo Box.

This movie has a lot of heart, magic, and great one liners (how did you ever manage to fit into those smashing tights again Peter?)
Sure when you watch it as an adult, it has cheesy elements; but so do almost all kids adventure movies. Just ask the computer animated talking pigeons, talking fish, talking Gnomes, talking gerbils. A crayola food fight and fakey looking special effects is not a movie wrecker.
@prejusapatrick IK Right? Now People Want 2 Watch Movies Like Avatar.I Saw That In Theaters,& It Wasen't Even That Grate.I My B 16.But This Movie Is Awesome!I Grew Up Watching This.& Now.People Say That Crapy Avatar Movie Is The Best Movie Ever. But It's Not.I Meen.I Liked It.But Old Movies Like This Are Better.
When I first watched this movie..I thought it was fun (I was a kiddo)..now, I'm all grown up...and let's face it..the movie is just great...a classic among last 20th century movies.
@MrBleon84 Oh but I am... I'm just saying that the film hasn't aged as well as it could have if it were at least 20 minutes shorter, also I forgot to mention that the action set pieces don't hold up too well either (which I find strange coming from the director of the spectacular Indiana Jones series). Other Spielberg directed and produced family movies have held up a bit better, like the Gremlins and Back to the Future series, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, or even Harry and the Hendersons and casper
... Robin Williams, as it should be noted, plays the role with surprising restraint, however the same cannot be said for the large cast of children who seem taken from any number of bad Disney live action fare.
All and all, if it had just been a tad shorter I may continue to view it as a successful sequel to one of literature's great odes to innocence and youth, however I must regress, for this is one Hook that can be left for the fishes.*
...Hoskins and Hoffman's respective portrayals of Shmee and Hook add interesting layers of depth and subtext to the animated Disney original's relationship (especially considering that in an earlier conversation between the two actors, it was said that they had agreed to play them gay), and John Williams score is perhaps one of his last truly memorable ones...
I think the weakest aspect this movie seems to suffer from is it's running time. At over 2 hrs 20 min it's just too long to remain just good nostalgia, which I believe is a real shame. Most of Spielberg's adventures up until this point never exceeded the 2 hr mark, so why this one? I do believe however that there are some redeemable qualities that the film continues to possess...
just gone done watching witches of eastwick, didnt know john williams used his own music from that movie for this trailer :) great score for this great movie and the soundtrack he made for the movie was great too!
