I'm really gonna have to look up some of Soto's other stuff to see if his work with Malmsteen's just a fluke or if it's a shame that he's never brought up when talk comes around to the great vocalists of metal...
@XMenGoneMetal Just a song title (I hope) Nothing to get worked up about dude. Although Malmsteen is THAT good. Might of sold his soul to play like that... haha. Nah, Practice makes Yngwie dude
i've never got it perfect!!! the last part befor the repetition on the solo... i had it with about 0,5s delay... and that was the last thing i ever tryed to play... the tab is in YM's website
Yngwie is the one ... nobody Can Do The Same Things with a Stratocaster ... but if you listen to WALTER GIARDINO may recognize much of Malsmteen in him, and this is not found in other great players like Jason Becker, janick gers or marty friedman...
Best guitarist ever, very inspirational. My favourite artist of all time. Had to learn the solo part when I heard it. Left the vai stuff for ages when I came across Yngwie.
Cant stop lovin' the diminised arpeggio work. yet I will tell the truth. YJM wrote classical pieces comparable to Bach & Moz---I wonder if Rhodes would have followed in his foot steps. YJM plays boroque pieces(that he wrote that r amazing)[top knoch] actually a better sounding player than Dimeola(who is far better than everyone even rhoads) and far before rhoads--Im sorry its just that rhoads couldnt play classical, he wrote some stuff yet it wasnt boroque. Also rhd couldnt play that well. Peace

yes Randy and yngwie were the same in a lots of ways. I love ozzy but he never replaced Randy . even with zack. I hate zack he did made a joke of randy songs ruined them malmsteen would not he could play them like randy.
The instrumental break in this song is why I always say Yngwie is a musical genius..No one else out there did anything even remotely close to this at the time,or even now..The guy is not of this earth..So fluid and brilliant. A true original..
"Vai's basically a one-trick pony, but all he really has is speed. "
About the dumbest thing I've even heard said about Vai or any other guitarist. Malmsteen and Vai -- outside of being able to play very fast at times -- are completey different in their approach and musical depth. Like comparing Steve Morse to EVH, or Satriani to Jarzombek even. If all you hear in Vai is speed, you need to maybe stick to Guitar Hero or drums as you have a tin ear and no musical soul at all. Seriously.
I saw them on the G 3 tour and yes Vai blew Malmsteen away. Vai is classically trained and if you listen to all of his albums which I have even the rare demos you can hear the classical influences on some of his pieces. Via is not of this world.
@nalgon99 Vai's basically a one-trick pony, but all he really has is speed. He's sorely lacking when it comes to classical skill, (like Malmsteen) or in terms of variety (like Eric Johnson), or artistry (like Satriani). The aforementioned 3 are the real masters - equal but different. Vai, for all his speed, isn't fit like their feet.
@mikeusat Well, with all due respect, what else could you expect? After all, Yngwie wrote the entire song by himself, including the lyrics. C'mon, man, it's all about the guitar work with him. Not the lyrics. If you really think about it, Yngwie is a worse lyricist than Nikki Sixx. ;-D
@TerrorizerGrindspeed Yeah, the demos from 1978 are called "Powerhouse" and the demos from 1980 are called "The Genesis", the Genesis was released on a record company in 2002, but Powerhouse is not from a record company. They are somewhat easy to find if you look for torrents. Good luck :)

bloodmoonblooz 2 years ago 10
@bloodmoonblooz The lyrics in I am a Viking is possibly one of the most meaningful in Yngwie's works :)) I like this song too!
memmori1 1 year ago
@memmori1 I think the lyrics wouldn't be so bad if they didn't contain parts like "I am a Viking and I'll walk all over you" that sounds like it was written by a 13 year old daydreaming about being a bad ass. I do agree its probably meaningful to Yngwie, but I think it could have been written better. (Not that I could have done any better :D). I think the guitar in this song is the "heaviest" sounding Strat I have ever heard, that's what I like.
bloodmoonblooz 1 year ago
@bloodmoonblooz :)) And by my sword you will die!!! :))
In fact Yngwie was only 22 when the song was released and probably he still had a soul of 13 year old those days :) And since that he had dozens of more stupid texts, so I Am A Viking is a nice thoughtful thing anyway :)

@memmori1 Thanks man I got a good laugh out of that :D, and I needed one. I wish Yngwie would do a pure instrumental album and play slower more often to show off his harmonizing and melody better; and his VIBRATO. I love his vibrato on his slow stuff it's top shelf smooth.
