Yes, Matt Smith is kinda clown, but the stories with him are less Emotional more Science-Fiction and Humour. He has had his good emotional moments however...
@MindInTheGutterBaby 11 is less human. That's why. It's more hopeful and positive because you don't get that deep connection that you did with 10. 10 was your best friend, 11 just isn't. He more braggy, less concerned with moral stories, etc. With the 10th it was different. He was so open, you could relate to him in ways, and feel his pain in others. You loved him, you missed him, you cried when he died and at his pain when he lost Donna. He was the greatest doctor; and you did not piss him off.
@rpottage Yeah, Tennant's doctor was the most attached to his life. One of the hardest scens from the entire show for me to watch is when he's dying, and he just says "I don't want to go"...that PAIN in his eyes is heart-wrenching!
Let's ask Colonel Runaway about that. Or how about Madame Kovarian? Or The Silence? Or how about Aunty, Uncle, and House? 11 is VERY emotional. 10 was TOO human, so much so that I COULDN'T relate to him. The only moving emotional scene that David made me feel it in was the "Time Lord Victorious" scene. 11 is fun, hopeful, positive, yet dark, a warrior. 11 is a combination of 9 and Classic Who. He's Classic Who who just came out of The Last Great Time War.
@Dracoa79 Notice, however, that I said human; not emotional. Yes, the 11th doctor gets very angry; that doesn't make him human. He's the guy that drifts around, most of the time seeming like some sort of android with a faulty emotions chip; and then out of nowhere will flip out and abandon his beliefs (like being against genocide) without really ever giving quite enough reason to feel what he's going through. He's not human enough, despite his excessive flipouts.
@Dracoa79 Basically, where's the pain? Where's the inner emotional turmoil over watching his own daughter die for him, then being faced with the choice of killing the man responsible? Where's the time lord victorious pain? Where's the pain and grief with saving Wilfred? Or the anger at killing a retreating enemy (Christmas invasion)? When 11 causes the mass genocide of the Silence, he seems to enjoy it. Where's the pain 10 felt over the Pyrovile, etc. 9's pain over the device in Parting of Ways
They are different people, different personalities, they have means of coping. As 10 said, "I can still die. If I'm killed before regeneration, then I'm dead. Even then, even if I change, it feels like dying. Everything I am dies. Some new man goes sauntering away... and I'm dead." The overly emotional, more human than human, Doctor died. 11 also shows hope, love for his friends, love for River, and unlike 10, he's not afraid of that love.
@platnium1811 They are called the Family of Blood. They hunted the Doctor and Martha to the point where there was nowhere to hide. So, the Doctor came to Earth in 1913 and briefly turned himself into a human rather than just destroy them because, as the narrator said, "He was being kind." The race has a very short life span, but they wanted to change that, and they wanted to use a Time Lord's biology to do that.
I wonder if we'll ever see that kind of.......shivery inducing fury from 11? I am a big fan of Matt Smith and i think his doctor humour is bang on, and the way he says 'Pond' is second only to the way Rowan Atkinson says his 'B's' but i'm desperate to see if he can really do devastated, fury, you know? oncoming storm stuff. the stuff David just blew us all away with, i wait as always, with baited breath.........
@elphaba82 - Recent remarks from Moffat in various interviews indicate that we will be seeing quite a lot of Dark Doctor in the Eleventh during series 6.

I love the tenth doctor. He's generally so fun, so carefree, that when he snaps, it's scary as crap.

@actionreplayman07 I like 11's emotional moments much more than 10's. 11's are hopeful and positive. 10's were just depressing.
