Thanks for the post. I bought Transformer when I was 13; in the space of one year I got all the other Lou Reed albums available at the time (the latest was Coney Island Baby). It's a classic, but - in truth - from 1972 to 1976 every Lou Reed album, on RCA, is a classic, and he made 2 a year!
I've said to almost everyone I know: This LP is the cornerstone of any good record collection. I can still remember how blown away I was when I first heard it.

What a sheer delight when the closing strange arrangement is all that is left in the mix and Lou exclaims "Boy, Ronson's good!"
Yeah, Mick could get that wicked hot wax poured on a tomcat guitar tone, and that killed, but what an incredible arranger all around.
