that looked more likme a ray i've only seen skate that have thick long tails and no barbs kinda like a shark...this had a little thin tail i think i saw a barb...dont bring that shit onto the boat unless you're gonna eat it...BLAZE ON
Nice one it would have been around the 110lb, your gaffing was perfect but please in future make sure the skate comes in the boat the right way up so that there is no way the eyes can be damaged
We're going up to Ardnamurchan this May, hopefully getting out on Loch sunart. Can tell me what bait you used, and was it a case of dragging the bait behinf the boat, or anchoring up and fishing static?
first catch some fresh mackeral bait cut the backbone out of the mackeral ie flapper size 6 0 hook through the head and anchor the boat midd channel at the narrowest point at the fish farm laga bay we used an onion bag full of cut up mackeral and tied it to the anchor good luck happy fishing
