  • Wow man, you started off gentle then just let rip. great job.

  • My God, so many jealous people.

Just let the guy play on whatever tune he wants. He's great!

  • 0:02 bad chord

  • @TheMunich123 It's not actually, check out the sheet music for ABRSM Jazz Grade 3. This part is exactly as it's written in the head.

  • @sniper22b Thats cool

  • OH MY GLOB! IT'S AMAZING! The way how you connect yourself with the music!

  • @TheLivingston999 LOL I laughed so hard at Oh my glob. Adventure time? No lumping way

  • This is so good!

  • fascinating.

  • Awesome !

  • oh my god.

  • you CRAZY man!!

  • That was too cool.

  • so Good

  • u guys r so good!!

  • You should do the soundtracks for GranTurismo.

  • hardly anyone plays this in the key it was written in, most like this guy choose an easier key...

  • I've never understood why people think playing in different keys is so difficult, it's just playing notes. It's the the rhythm that is difficult. Playing in different keys is something beginners to intermediate struggle with. Not at this level.

  • @sniper22b maybe people just like more in a different key... I know I do sometimes

  • @JOAOwithSARAH Oh wow, and what's your favourite key????? The submediant or do you prefer a modulation into the supertonic,

  • @sniper22b Interesting you would say that when most of your videos show you playing in the key of C or F. Ive been playing for many years and would still rather play in something in a C versus playing it in the key of A flat. Even at your "level" there are easier keys than others to reach.

  • I agree, and when doing totally 100% first take improvisation with 0 practice time such as all of the videos you see on youtube.Clearly it's goin to be easier to play a Boogie in C rather than B major! Apart from anything the history of funk or boogie/blues etc. (not Jazz obviously!) is mostly written in the keys you have just mentioned - at any level. My main point was people sometimes overlook the main challange, the rhythm and feel and worry too much about what key your in.

  • @luvemliam Which videos have you been watching mate?? I've noticed E flat minor modulating to the submediant and subdominant. Their Classical Symphony is in 6 flats. How experienced are you? Any musician knows that rhythm is the bug bare, notes are easy, whatever colour they are. Do you like pink ones?

  • @sniper22b

That's the reason why i try to learn playing this instrument without ever worrying about notes.

Notes just get in the way, if you want to be a really good musician you must play by your ears for your ears.

In the beginning it was hard but after a while it just makes much more fun because you can improvise whatever you want. Playing by notes is just a mechanical process and has nothing to do with real music in my opinion.

  • @luvemliam dude, these guys play in keys u didn't know existed

  • @luvemliam this is the key chosen by ABRSM jazz exam syllabus and this video is played note for note from their music book. This is probably why you find a lot of people play this in A minor as millions of people take ABRSM piano exams. Hope this answers your question. Thanks for the comment

  • @luvemliam Asshat... Stuart can play this in any key he likes. Highbrow pish about the wrong key is nonsense. Play it this well in the key of your choice, then film it, then uplolad it. Ta ;)

  • 8 people "misclicked" the like button...AMAZING!!!!

  • Play it together with a BASS is nice....!!!!

  • but would you pass the exam with that . . ?

  • Rediculously good!

  • very good!!!

  • Many friends regard me as being a great critic of music. Stuart ! Great STUFF !

  • that's awesome !!!

  • Damn!! The piano is ON FIRE!!

  • its was nice. I like the speed of the song and the fun part to it..

  • nice.

  • simply AMAZING!

  • That was awesome.

  • true pianist at play =)

  • Space is good, lol only kidding, loved it.

  • Man, I just watch this video over and over. Atleast every day.

  • i gotta agree... u start off slow which is depressing and then u go ahead and pull off that kind of improv! such quick fingers!! such amazing work! u really WOWed me! lol

  • The very beginning sounds a bit like a joke, as for the rest of the song, simply awesome.

  • The beginning is the head as written out by the ABRSM in the Grade 3 Jazz book which you have to play in the exam. The rest is all improvisation.

  • LOL!

  • Nice

  • добрий шмір

  • If you actually did the exam, you'd maybe just scrape through. Hahaha Nah that was excellent. Which part of the country you from?

  • ... holy crap

  • good!!!!!!!!!

  • Eva.

  • They made it themselves.

  • It's an improvisation; an inspirational arrangement of the old standard. You won't find this rendition in any book, methinks.

  • robot finger XD

  • I absolutely adored it mate, Im a jazz singer myself and i do it at a different tempo (slower) and with the verse, kinda stole it of here from Tony Bennet and Peggy Lee. The wonders of youtube 10/10.

  • sickkkkkk. Very impressed.

  • superb!!!!!!

  • it all starts with mozart guys, C major, C minor, C# major C# minor, D major etc, then if u control that, u know that its :

A minor D minor, G major , C major, F major, D minor, E major, A minor/major when in the original key, so it aint that hard in theory, wel very wel played ! i really liked it :), Goodjob.

  • dude---- how can you move you're fingers soo fast??!?!!!?! its AMAZING! =] all of your work is absolutely fantastic

  • Well ronhovde the blues scale is less notes than most the other scales... less notes take less time to play them all right? It's just simple physics and basic math.

  • i guess that's true.... but i still think it's awesome playing... i love it

  • Oh i was just just kidding you... it's actually "muscle memory". After so many years of playing certain licks in certain styles they just fly out of your fingers automatic... the result is playing this badass.

  • lol.... you got the last part right-- that's for sure! ;]

  • wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • WONDERFUL! You are so amazing!

  • I mean IT IS SOOO WONDERFULLY AMAZING HOW YOU BOTH PLAY!!! *claps*

  • i swear your piano has like 2 more octaves than mine!! SO AMAZING. i just looked through some of your videos and admire your work. Theres nothing more amazing than pianists who can improv. and play like you guys! baffles me!

  • I love your music

  • i bet you guys make so much money!

  • SONG SHEETS?!

  • awesome.. one of my favorite songs. I like your rendition.

  • you guys must have high levels of music theory to just improvise such amazing tunes seemingly on the fly. I'm envious, was there a certain music course you found helpful?

  • Thanks for the comments. Much appreciated. The improvisations need to be found from within yourself for true jazz. I've always jazzed things up purely by ear. I do teach jazz ABRSM though. Check out their jazz syllabus. It's absolutely fantastic. They've got it bang on right. Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music - Jazz Piano. Cheers

  • The flute jazz syllabus is great too :D loving this improv!

  • You guys are great, how did you learn to play like that. Did you study jazz piano or jazz piano to begin with? Didi you go to university to Study
