@GoblinSlasher The shells have a little lip on the back that the bolt grips onto. Notice how when the bolt is pushed forward, the back of the shell is push upwards on the face of the bolt? The lip is sliding into place. If you do a good image search for "Mosin Nagant Bolt Face" you see that it has a little piece of metal that the lip can hook underneath.
@einstienear There's a little pin-like piece of metal called an extractor. When the shell is pulled back the the bolt, it knocks into the extractor which send it flying. It's not a moving part so the harder you pull the bolt back, the faster the shell flies out. If you pull it back gently it'll just sort of flop out.
@shootingstar1029 I have a Mosin. Let me go check.....Ok it's on the left side (the side closest to us in the video) and it's sort of like a very thin sliver of metal that gradually ramps inward toward until about 3/4 of the way it has an abrupt lip that knocks into the shell as you pull it back. Infact in the video, you can see it bouncing up and down when the bullets are loaded into the magazine. And you can see the shell hitting it when it's puller back.
That's a very good animation job you did, making it look like an old Russian patent. The cutaway diagram for the gun actually resembles one of the woodcarvings they used to use for illustrations.
wow very nice animation
