What (programming language, tools) did you use to make this? And do you have any intention of doing more with this? I'd love to have a chance to play with the code, if you're up to it - hit me up with a message or something!
In my opinion you should put the camera higer and let the ship move forward and backward... Come on, keep it up man, I want to be the first to try a 3D bullet hell shooter XD
Haha... I was planning to make 3D bullet pattern games, still find it hard to imagine a good game play with this. I even thought of bullet colliding with bullets but too many of it will just lag the game sadly...
I've tried imagining a 3D danmaku several times, as I'd like to see one. You've done well in visualizing this concept. Regrettably, it is exactly as I imagined, and I think it'll be difficult to make something properly good from this concept.
The biggest difficulty I observe is identifying the point of impact. I think that can be assisted by allowing the player to additionally move forward and back to give a better sense of one's location.
I think abandoning the scrolling-concept is needed--
@TerraGamerX - this is the kind of thing that the new 3D-display PS3 update (or the 3DS once it drops next year) would be uniquely suited for. Being able to properly judge distance for a game concept like this would...well....own. Great work.
Cool, so somebody else thought that this sort of thing could work too. Admittedly changes would have to be made to make a full game, but you've shown that it'd be at least playable either way.
While I understand what you mean by 3D... this is still 2D. You'd need more range of movement aside from your ships flat plane to really call this "3D", methinks.
bullets blend in too much and the depth perception is off. But good job anyways

Maybe on a 3DS. Kind of reminds me of Face Raiders.

3D Danmaku is not impossible. But the background would have to change. You would need walls, shadows, etc. Maybe something like the game Rakion.

im not really sure if a 3D bullet hell game would work in the same way as a 2D bullet hell game, still, a very interesting idea...

True. The bullets just arrive from another axis. But then again, how would you be able to do full 3D for this type of games?
