The spartan I project, dubbed the 'Orion Project' took normal soldiers right off the field and attempted to augment them and put them in suits or HEAVY armor. They either died during training to the armor crushing them, the chems, the training itself, killed themselves, or developed an odd disese. ONI covered up the project and never told anyone who were in it, though Sgt. Johnson himself is a Spartan I, you'd have to read the books.

I think that Reach and ODST had the best music; while the old stuff is good, Marty's just that much better in those two. Rippy did a good job with this soundtrack though.

and to help clear up the armor issues, the 1-3 versions of the armor were never used do to the fact that they would need a generator to power the suit. so they used those to train the spartans. The armor that the spartans in the fight scene have mark 4 armor. it was issued from November 27th, 2525, and was in service until November 24th, 2551. then came the mark 5, and so forth.
