It was aching at me for a good 20 minutes or so. A buzzing siren sound i knew was at a dramatic moment in a movie. Finally hit me that it was this scene. Probably one of my top 5 movies of all time. (If you count LOTR trilogy once anyways).

i like how when you see them tied up you know that the joker's in the crowd somewhere and the music builds on that....... even though it can be obvious to spot a man with his scars and eyeliner.
Even without the makeup Heath manages to make himself look like a completely different person. Seeing Joker without the makeup even for a few seconds is awesome, he looks badass.

Also, in a massive crowd like that, in a parade like that, if people noticed the scars they probably did not even ask cause they're busy with other things. The concept of the Joker disguising himself as a police officer without his clown make-up is taken straight out of the Batman comic in 1940 where the Joker first appeared.
I always wondered when, exactly, did they come up with that fake-your-death plan. Had it been planned in advance, or did he just think of it while lying there on the floor? I mean, he must have some wicked foresight if he could predict that he could throw himself in the line of a bullet, survive, and recover in time for the next stage in the plan.

@snipedudes The guy Harvey Dent puts a gun to is called Thomas Schiff, a former patient at Arkham and paranoid schizophrenic, possibly one of Jonathan Crane's earlier patients. Scarecrow made a short appearance early on, but was caught by Batman and left with the "Batmen" - so called because they are Batman copycats. Maybe you should get your facts straight before commenting.

@dpvmeeuwisse They probably noticed him but no one knew that he was the Joker, as not everyone knows that the Joker has a glasgow smile, only those who have seen him in person do. Also, in a massive crowd like that, in a parade like that, if people noticed the scars they probably did not even ask cause they're busy with other things. Plus, the Joker had several of his henchmen around him, with him, it was easy to blend. This was a flawless plan, and it would have succeeded if not for Gordon.

I always wondered when, exactly, did they come up with that fake-your-death plan. Had it been planned in advance, or did he just think of it while lying there on the floor? I mean, he must have some wicked foresight if he could predict that he could throw himself in the line of a bullet, survive, and recover in time for the next stage in the plan.

@jazzmatik he knew batman/somebody would show up, but even if noone did, it would serve as a distraction that a threat is more likely in the apartments rather than in the crowd *itself! the joker in the comics and everywhere is crazy but essentially a f*cking genious.
and they shoot at anything that moves in an area thats supposed to be cleared.
