I've heard several versions by Bruce Springsteen & friends and have to agree, this is his best. Such beautiful lyrics & melody. I absolutely love the images you chose. They do justice to the song. With all due respect & love for our Canadian friends, I did listen to Margo Timmins' version and enjoyed it. I also have a great fondness for Faith Hill's version (and of course all respect to The Boss for such a wonderful song).
Thank you all for the gracious & kind comments. I love this song and was disappointed that there was no Bruce Springsteen version out there on youtube. I'm not too familiar with making videos and just selected these serene pictures to reflect on the beautiful words of this amazing song! Blessings & Thank you for watching!! :)
This song is to a woman I know.After me being a complete and utter plonker and letting her down countless times we have decided that frieinds is the best option. If all I get is freindship then I'll take it, better that then not having her in my life at all, so I'll keep quiet........but I know that I will love her until my last breath. I hope deep down she knows that and a small part of her remembers that..... no matter how many years pass :(
I dedicate this version to my husband who passed away in 2003.One day our hands will be rejoined in the Twilight because they slipped away. kbennettt&yahoo.com
This ain't unplugged... There's a strong electric guitar & electric bass - playing all through out... That said, thanks for posting this with the lyrics. = If you want a REAL UNPLUGGED = no electricity version of this song, try Margo Timmins' version. She of Cowboy Junkies. If anything's plugged in, it might be a very subtle electric bass... But overall, it's the singer and the piano. You can hear the piano's paddles in this recording.
Heard this on CSI-NY last night -still got a lump in my throat. I'll bet thousands of hits on this song this morning. Funny, I'd never heard it before. Wasn't there a female harmonizing on the CSI version?
This is the version that's on constant replay in my playlist, and the harmonica is gorgeous. I bought a harmonica with the goal of learning the harmonica solo one day.
@flungingpictures Hi, I had a listen to the Margo Timmins version and I have to admit she has a wonderful voice and I appreciate you bringing her to my attention. However for me as a guitarist I prefer the version by Bruce Springsteen, I love his vocals on this too. Thankfully we can enjoy both versions, Terry

@flungingpictures it was recorded for MTV unplugged, but the boss played a joke and did a full elektric gig.

@fenderdre -
.... so it should have been MTV "unplugged" in name only.
Have you heard the Margo Timmins version?

@pixey45 On the oft chance you're not kidding, it's Bruce Springsteen playing his own song. It's on his 1992 album, Lucky Town.
