  • What is the point of this video? They were the same bike called different things in different markets. here in Australia it was called an RZ500. Just like A ZZR1100 is exactly the same bike as what they call a ZX-11 in the states

  • @avabat12

That's false. There are differences between those 2 bikes. Some minor and one huge: no aluminum frame on the rd.

  • Best 2 stroke EVER made!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just wish yamaha would come back and make the RZ350 and RZ500 one more time.

  • Comment removed

  • @kodiak1966 not really.the rg eats the rd.the gamma is the real one...gp replica.rg500 square four engine is real gp tech....nearly 1:1 and massive eased for the masses.

the rd engine are designed and constructet special for the street.

but both are excellent bikes, but i prefer the Gamma.

  • rz all the way

  • nice. have a 76 rd400, good ride but these would be the wing ding ride of a life time.

  • If you are serious about road racing, two stroke is the way to go. I cannot understand why anyone would want one on the public roads? I've raced both two stroke and four stroke bikes. I love my Seeley Norton 850, you can feel the hair growing on your chest when you ride it.

  • f%$king nice bikes . . .watch em soar in value in the next few years

  • Imagine an 8-cyl 1000cc 2-stroke :o 4pipes on each side and 300hp+ :)

  • @eamh2002 suzuki made an 1100cc 2 stroke Katana......

  • @exup1k When was that???

  • @Thebearcat66 in the 80s , its was never exported. I just remember a magazine here in the UK doing an article on it, they rode it to the Bol'dor , used gallons of 2 stroke.

  • @Thebearcat66 nice LC btw, you seen my mtx ))

  • you can argue 2 against 4 stroke all day long but the reason I like the 2 stroke is because I love the smell of burning oil, I love the agressive power band and I love how the sound makes you feel like your on a GP track even when your going to work..

long live the 2 stroke (not likely thou!!")

  • @Sidrcride Nothing like the smell of burning Castrol TTS in the morning. Four strokes are full of parts, two strokes are full of fun! Half the strokes, twice the fun!

  • Beautiful motorcycles, sorry that in Brazil had no

two copies of imported officially. I would

have had one, the one I saw personally was in 1986

Itararé here on the beach of St Vincent, with another card

Sao Paulo, never saw her again. Motorbikes are without

like, real racing bolide tamed to walk

    on the street. Congratulations.

  • What kind of numptie would make a video like this?

  • to tom69z28 because of emission laws u knob

  • @johnthomaslongwood Ok then how can Evinrude make 2 stroke boat engines that are emissions legal but no one makes bike engines? I'll tell you why, its because a 4 stroke is far superior in useable / tractable power delivery.

  • i want buy this bike...how?

  • One thing i think is that 2 stroke bike can throw me out of the seat to the road, maybe even kill me before the big 4 stroke. I noticed the bad way that the 2 stroke engine doesn´t breaks like the 4 stoke so i crashed in the back of a madame benz stopping in a cross walk with people a mile from crossing..

  • WTF are you retards on about? The RZV is the aluminum GP framed RZ500, as far as i know is the same engine but Dif frame and suspension.

No 1000 4stroke will ever hold it's own to a 500cc two stroke, same power but the 4stroke bike has to deal with it's weight.

  • @Adam900RRR Oh please, a bone stock 1998 R1 will make these bikes look sick... these bikes were nice and unique in their day but they lack suspension, brakeing and they sure as hell are not anywhere near as powerful as an R1.... If 2 strokes were so great everyone would still be making them.

  • @tom69z28 how old are you tom? did you ever have a two stroke road bike? my first bike was a suzuki x7 250 2 stroke , very fast (in there day , but blew pistons evry month! that was the big problem with two strokes , ive got a gsxr 750 now , they say its the best road bike ever made, i dont know about that, but i had a shot of a rd 500 20 years ago , n when you came into the power band , it was the quickest bike ive ever been on, took a real good rider to keep it in the band,, took real guts !

  • @davyross1 I am 37, and I have been riding since age 5. I believe what your saying but the fact is 4 strokes deliver power much more linear than any 2 stroke. Yamaha's latest R1 lays down power better than anything I have ever ridden.

  • @tom69z28 hi tom yes your right with the four stokes being mutch better right across the reve range , but theres nothing like the smell of a two stroke , the scream! n the kick when it hits the power band! o and the(is this the time its going to blow up?) feeling evrytime you went out on it! they were faster than the same size 4 stroke (by a mile!) but so unreliable! thats why there not meany left!

  • @davyross1 i agree they are unique and cool in their own way... they sound neat too, and they do run very well.

  • @davyross1 wat... i got a 2 stroker at my house that starts up all the time even after 3 months of no use!

  • @tom69z28 Have you ever driven a 2 stroke street bike? my 1989 Rz350 spanked 1997+ 600's up to 220kph daily for years and all it had was pipes reeds and port work. It would stand up at 100kph in third and it was just a 350cc bike that made something like 55hp. Stick a RZ500 engine in a modern frame and it would kill liter class bikes, or we could talk gamma 500 engines in spondon frames.... FYI two strokes went out of favor due to emission laws not reliability, there perfectly reliable...

  • @Adam900RRR: No? Then take a look at 2002 and 2003 results for MotoGP, when both 2stroke and 4stroke ran together. The 2stroke were destroyed and put to rest definitely.

  • @saulocpp yeah 500cc 4 stroke fuel injected prototype bikes up against 250cc 2 stroke emission reduced carburated bikes. Very good comparison there brain ace. I find it funny that still the 500cc bikes didnt win by that large of a margin. You can argue all you want about 4 strokes being superior, but its not true. Haven't you taken any science of physics classes??

  • @LordSamuelJ: They ran 1000cc 4 stroke against 500cc 2stroke, not 250cc, Mr Misinformed. Rossi won both championships with 4stroke bikes, and 2001 too with 2stroke when there were no 4stroke running.

  • @saulocpp lol I never actually watched it so I really dont know my own ass from a hole in the ground when it comes to the details. However its still the same concept. Four stroke motors winning over two strokes half the size. I am however pretty impressed with 4 stroke tech. They are finally becoming more competitive. I just wish we as consumers still had the choice to buy what we want instead of forcing us to only buy 4 stroke. I would love to ride a modern 2 stroke with all the modern tech.

  • @Adam900RRR FYI - an 800cc 4 stroke moto GP bike will destroy any 2 stroke 500cc racebike ever made.... please stop dreaming. And any R1 will run circles around these 20 year old machines shown here in this video.

  • @tom69z28 four stroke is not superior to the two stroke according to the laws of physics. You can argue all you want, but no matter what you say you are still wrong. Deal with it.

  • @LordSamuelJ show me a modern 2 stroke that is faster than a modern 4 stroke on any racetrack. you dont know shit about physics or how a bike delivers its power.

  • @tom69z28 Wow you are very intelligent arent you? If you want to see two strokes beating four strokes all you need to do is look it up on youtube. Let me guess, because you are an idiot in the field of physics it automatically means that physics dont apply. You sound like a real brain ace and I cant believe Im actually wasting my time responding to such a mundane response. I suggest u 2 look up actual facts about the design of two and four stroke engines and for god's sake get an education.

  • @tom69z28 Go search Smoking Joe H2 Kawasaki,

he out drags all comers, with aTriple, thers a H2 versus Hyabusa also " take a look at that vid also, And weep ,

  • I have two yamaha two strokes --tzr 125 and rz 50 and i like two see the white smoke and the noise is very fine too. So shut the mouth. My bikes will function for a long time, thats more important than the go green blabla. But i too want an electric bike to add to the park.

  • chek up the quantya still i NEVER WOULD CHANGE my ktm 525 and my husky te400 for an alectric shit lol need some noise shifting.. vibrations...

  • two strokes make more power per cc than four strokes look at gp racing you could have a 500cc 2st or 1000 4 st

  • i like 2 stroke,,,yami is great

  • So is the rd 500 faster nd if it is how??

  • what is sound very nice sound please help me

  • rz every time that 40lb or so weight difference counts for a lot

  • ok the rd is quicker

but the rzv has the look

  • I prefer RD500

    Vsss

  • Do u own both these bikes????????????
