It's hard to come up with a better arrangement than this for that song... Also hard to figure out how he's getting all the bass notes in there while playing the lead at the same time.

I actually bought the book and it shows you in the tabs. pretty clever arrangement but it's rather straightforward. if you listen closely, you'll notice the bass line notes always line up with the melody so you don't actually need an independent thumb for this song. his other arrangements however....

There are parts where you can definantely tell that this is one guitar. There are notes that should overlap in this song but since he only has 5 fingers to do both the chords and the melody you can clearly hear him hesitating on the chords a few times.

I've seen him play live. The sound he can create with just one guitar is incredible. And for those who are skeptical, this is definitely not layered. He played other songs live that were more complicated than this.

No, it is not layered, it is absolutely only one guitar, one take. Solo. No other tracks or guitar overdubs were used. I know this for a fact because I produced the song and the CD it is taken from: "Pop Goes Guitar".

what they do is he records himself doing the background of the song. then he records another part over the background and puts them together. he does both guitar parts. alot of vocalist do this. my dad did it all the time

He was a guitarist for Paul McCartney and the Wings. I had no idea he did this. The wings was a fantastic band, but this song ALONE makes me appreciate his guitaring skills so much more. I've never heard a more beautiful acoustic of anything in my life.
