Over a minute to start up? That's way too long. And the processor seems really slow when you were navigating through the menus. I could buy this for $100 right now but I think I'll pass.
way i am about gizmos and gadgets i like to test them myself instead of relying on reviews 4rm other people.that navigon 2100 looks awesome and that reality view would be helpful and me gonna buy one
It looks nice, don't let it fool you. Stay away from it. This gps is over rated from newbee gps users. it is just crap, I wished we didn't know it exists.
a lot of the bad comments don't add more information. there was a shipment of these that went out to staples with bad memory cards with all the map info on them. I read a review of a guy that just got a bad chip they sent him a new one over night for free and let him keep the other one to use for a camera or anything. google reviews for it and you should find the one I'm talking about. what I'm saying is just be skeptical of some of the reviews they're not all that accurate.
I'm sure that's true ... but I really don't care. My device is fine... if you are afraid of getting a bad device. Buy it, open the box in the store, power it on .... you have a problem, trade it in...... under 5 minutes ... That's pretty close to my standard when getting any "expensive" electronic device, power on before leaving the lot and exchange if any problems.
I have a small review on slickdeals net (search Navigon 2100) .. I am unable to post a link in this reply. GPSLodoge com has a pretty good review. It seems like user responses on this device is not too positive, but I like it.

I read on cnet that satellite acquisition was somewhere around 7 mins. but I just bought mine and booted it up for the first time and it took less than 1 min to boot and acquire satellite.
Yah, I'm not sure if people are receiving bad units, their location sucks, or trying this from indoors ..... I've had no problems that "others" are talking about.
i just got a navigon 2100 and it wont power on can anyone help me?

the only thing good about navigon is that it tells the street name.

MN6 is really slow on the small navigons.
It's the software not the CPU!

Well,
people should realise that the GPS cannot function in buildings or in shadows of extremly highrise buildings (canyons). That is just a technical fact.
Otherwise the GPS chip offers very quick fixes and the device is fast and precise in route calculation.
Besides it is a ultra chic and extremely well designed gadget. Very convincing in style and performance!
