First of all, let me say that I am a SU Jaguar man, but you know what??? That was one of the best performances by drum majors that I have ever seen. I believe in giving credit when and wherever it is due. I had to play that video twice because it was sooooo nice.

when i saw this drum majors intro for the first this time, me and 20 other ppl fuckin flew off our seats, that was one of the most creative intro they came up with....
BCC can come on to the SWAC they got that aggressive play not that conservative play performance like their rival counter-parts FAMU. I can't way to see my first Florida Classic this coming November, but I'll be wearing grad school JSU attire repping looking like a outkast. BCC can someone tell me why FAMU don't have female dancers for their show, because it might help their performance to not be so dull and plain.
That was one of the BEST drum majors entrances I've seen in a very long time. BCU has a fantastic band. I always enjoy them when I have an opportunity to watch them.
Cookman 07 was AWESOME. 08 was kinda boring except for that Obama formation. THAT WAS TIGHT. Seems like both bands 07 year was better even though FAM grew.
JSU homestadium will swallow SCSU's sound if they don't play with fullness. BCU, and FAMU has the size to feel in that spot.... And when meac schools run up on powerhouse swac schools they tend to over play also... Famu do it everytime they run up on jsu... i don't see swac bands better or equal.. but i do say every band does what they do for their program... But I will say for overall hbcu Bethune cookman is taken over.
See when it comes down to it. Swac bands can't do what SCSU, FAMU, and BCU do.. and that is play in odd keys.. Because the instrumentation plays a big part on that. IT wouldn't sound right for a swac band like alcorn to play a ballard in the key of Gb or in the key of B. Some times it do sounds like a swac band is really heavy cause they write a lot of stacked notes...... where 3 different instruments might be sitting on a melody and 3 other instrumetns are sitting on the same chords.
I could give a lesson on this subject. But anyway... I don't know why I am having this conversation on a clip that don't have anything 2 do with a swac school... Let go of other bands nuts and ride in the Glory of BCU being one of the better bands in the Meac. All HBCU bands BCU is in the top 3.... 2 me.
BCU2007, if you ask around from the west coast to east coast, north to south, about the most well known bands, Famu or majority of Swac bands will be named. And mostly it will be the ones I had named, so it can't be bringing headaches. U can't put Meac up against Swac really.. The styles or totally different. BCU, VSU and probably SCSU are probably the protype bands for the MEAC. Two bands that everyone say over play haven't been swac bands long... and that is AAMU and AlSU....
Yea! You are right! But, in your words you show that the swac is still living off it's past and aint doing nothing in the present! And the best bands known from the Great MEAC is COOKMAN AND famu! There is no "VSU" in MEAC!

IT would have been nice to see JSU and BCU battling it out on the Sept 30... Stadiumds like GSU will swollow the sound of a band.

And you know what I am glad you mention those schools. Cause when you take out NSU... Those schools over play. NCAT isn't the band it used to be.. They can get outragous with there overplaying But for what it do. The instrumentation isn't right for those bands either. Which makes a big difference. It goes back to me saying. When these bands step up to SWAC POWERHOUSES they tend to over blow. Take TxSU they have a powerhouse sound for their size. But they will over blow when faced by JSU
VSU is not meac. Secondly alot of bands in the SWAC over play or over blow. ANd also meac bands have been murkin Swac bands lately. Personally I love Swac style and Meac. But lately Meac has been outshining the Swac. And i feel sorry for ASU this year. They goin to compete against A&T & SCSU in the same day. then have to face BCC and FAMU in the following weeks. i can see 4 ass whoopins comin to ASU already. ANd SU goin to get there chance to redeem them selves from being murked by A&T
Altosax, there is a big difference from playing with power and overplaying... Now to break it down.. Asu (plays with power but when they run up on power house bands they tend to over blow). SU is known for the LOUDNESS (overblowen).. JSU don't over blow, play with power... Alcorn (use to oplay with finess) MVSU (use to play musically but over plays now) and I had cleared up that I was talking about NSU not VSU...that was my mistake.

This is so true. The difference is in the MONEY, the last President put more money into the Budget and that is how the BLOW UP in size and the same with FAMU this year. Money goes a long way and does a lot of good things for these programs.
And do you know the sad part for other "HBCU BANDS". Both BCU and FAMU are going to get better over the next 5 to 10 years and then believe it or not take to the next level. Hard to believe but it's true and it will happen.

Yes size... Txsu, PVAMU, AAMU, or small bands with big sounds. JSU is the biggest band in the swac and alsu is probably the 2nd...
