its not fake i can do it all day long, is a sea plane there are ment to do that, im guessing its supposed to be scooping water for a fire in the movie not sure if that can be converted with even will and smarts can do anything were american
It's just a film - and an entertaining clip - but you can see that the plane was never really coming in to 'land' - no flaps down, flying speed kept up, ready to lift up again safely at that cinematographic last moment...
ok for starters, this is a catalina, it has no flaps, and that is the speed it would touch down at, it just had a little on the throttle so it could climb out again
Not to undermine this (but I will anyway), but what you're seeing is shot through a telephoto lens which reduces the depth of field a lot; in other words, things 100 yards behind them can appear to be only 100 feet behind them. (Notice how long the water from the hull takes to fall on them.) Still, time for a new outboard.
if you use a long telephoto lens and zoom in it makes stuff look closer together. it is an optical illusions.

It's real. Staged for the movie, but real. It's a Catalina filling it's tank to drop on hot spots.
