It is intentional. They want the public stupid. Look what is going on in the world... Endless wars, bankers stealing trillions of dollars, botched responses to disasters like Katrina and the Gulf oil spill...

They've been progressively softening the public up more and more over the decades with lower and lower quality art, music, film, poorer and more sensationalized news coverage, chemicals in the food...

This song is beautiful, gorgeous, shimmering. Hope's dreamy, ethreal voice with a wet, delicious guitar track just makes you melt. The noisy flanging sound effect in the background is just icing on the cake. I hate to say it, but if this cut is indicative of rest of their work, then this rivals Mazzy Star.
