Woefully under-recognised track that deserves to be widely played - needs a different ending to be radio friendly though - on the record/CD it goes straight into the next track.
i think that anyone like me who has followed steve for the last 25 years or so will agree that he is a special / unique talent . what a beautiful voice randy crawford has .
I am 48 years old now and i remeber my brother and his friends listen to this album. This has been the most beautiful song of the album. I lost my brother, been married, divoriced, lost my dad, and a few friends, but this song is haunting beautiful. It keeps me going. She has a beautiful voice, that no one new 20 years ago.
One of the most incredible and powerful Hackett somgs ever thanks to the amazing Randy Crawford (Crusaders). I'm glad I could contribute to promoting and airplaying this gem on radio. Icarus Ascending and How Can I are my other two favourite songs from this record. Great posting.-
Sorry to anyone who reads my comments that they are back to front, I exceeded the character count so had to post them in three stages and they've appeared in reverse order!
desperate for it to last and life is unthinkable without it, but the understatement makes it so beautifully poignant.. The best love song I've ever heard and I'm so grateful for having it in my life
...and imaging that you might become to the lover "just a face that you've soon forgot", then waking up beside them, and the beautiful final verse where she sings her heart out procaliming how, no matter how far apart they can be, all the lover lives for is the moments when they are together. The refrain of "and I'm hloping love will last" works so beautifully because in fact they're
Probably my favourite song in the whole world, yet so few people know of it. It wasn't until I met the love of my life I really understood the lyrics. I've always understood the song to be about the anxiety dreams we have when we are in love with someone so sincerely that our only fear is of it ending, Hence the first verse is about the previous friends and lovers who have vanished from one's life as this one just could concievably do, the second verse is about dreaming of "love's labour lost"
Fantastic.... the introduction of Randy Crawford and Richie Havens on to what was essentially a progressive rock album was inspired. They add immensely to the whole feel of the album.
This song brings back such special memories. Me and my true love used to listen to this when it came out. Thank you for putting out there. Such a special song.

Love this tune... Amazing that Steve 'discovered' Randy... Great album too. How Can I is a fave, and so is Narnia!
