  • 42 people who liked this video hate freedom and everything the United States stands behind.

  • I believe that porn is not good for anyone, married or otherwise, there is something wrong about a relationship that sees the need to use it. People can learn about sex techiniques in many ways other than pornogrpahy, that is like saying swingers are doing something right for their relationship.

  • Just wanna say, ever notice how these anti-porn feminist chicks are always, well, not that attractive?

  • WOMAN are getting NAKED, and doing PORN FLICKS...HELLO, DON'T SEE A GUN POINTED AT THEIR HEAD!!! THEY ARE SO VERY MUCH EQUALLY TO BLAME! "TAKES TWO TO TANGO...EVEN IN THE PORN INDUSTRY!!!"

  • PORNOGRAPHY FTW!!! 2 girls 1 cup!!

  • TAKE IT OFF.... no i'm just kidding, equal right for everyone

  • Have you realized that all these chicks are ugly?

  • @SBEbenelli2

Have I realized that all these chicks are ugly? Have you realized that you're a fucking idiot?

  • Gail Dines( and dines and dines and dines and dines and dines and dines and dines and dines and dines and dines and dines and dines and dines and dines and dines and dines and dines and dines and dines and dines and dines and dines and dines and dines and dines and dines and dines and dines)

  • i really enjoyed this video ,

another user of youtube called nuclearnight talked to us about how feminism can be a force for active change .

you may or may not have the financially backing to match the porn industry , also you may not have the social backing , if people cant see past the lies we are fed from a young age, you do however have the truth on your side. I too can see a brighter future that you you talk of .

  • the problem in america, is that its a grossly sexually repressive country, simultaneously sexually exploitive.

for example: say three women go to a public beach and take off their tops, within time police will arrive and force them to cover up and possibly fine them or worse.

all the while a few blocks away a pornographer can be exploiting impoverished young women having them do the most painfull and degrading sex acts imaginable. it equates to gross injustice.

  • That doesn't happen in America. pornography is rampant everywhere

  • @andypeterson21 this sexual repression and sexual exploitation seem to go hand in hand. From what I've experience of American culture it really does seem to be one of the most sexually repressive and perhaps therefore no surprise that most pornography is produced in the US (the next largest producer is Germany)

  • Im sorry but i think shes wrong, if by looking sexy and provokative makes her uncomfy then dont look at it plain and simple. Women express them selves in many ways, maybe pornography should be sort of monitored as there is wayyy too much online and off. but letsuse the short skirts as an example, if a 10 yr old girl wants a short skirt because of wht she sees on MTV then her parents should have their say in her fashion sense to monitor it and even be there when they buy it. its not hard to grasp

  • If you dont like porn dont watch it.

Im sick and tired of fat ugly feminists trying to tell us what we can and cannot watch.

Freedom of choice we live in a democracy its time to eradicate these ugly insecure feminazis

  • you make me sick.

porn is degrading and de humanizing, this is obviously how you feel about all woman!

its basically rape what you watch, if you like to watch women getting raped you really are sick.

    go fuck yourself.

  • Feraverdi your an ignorant prick, many people watch porn there are differing catergories. To say i and those who watch porn like rape shows your probable demented nature.Women watch porn as well I KNOW MANY WOMEN WHO WATCH PORNOS. Listen get the dildo out of your arse and use your brain when commenting or FUCK OFF

  • Who are the people that mainly watch porn young vulnerable minds that are trying to learn about sex right?

Therefore they see porn Rape porn Misogynistic porn Dehumanizing and humiliating porn and think this is how they should treat women. Consequently having no respect or value for women. Older people watch porn because they see stuff their partners would NEVER even consider doing for all the reasons ive mentioned, and they know it.

  • Does it objectify women? Absolutly, not even an arguement. There is a huge problem with how women are suppose to be physically. They put a picture an air brushed woman with botox and say here you go, thats what a REAL SEXY woman looks like. Spare me that crap, and spare the upcoming generation of women that crap too. Did this society give up on molding minds? Admittingly, the first thing i WANT in a woman is looks, but not the ONLY thing. MOST men, not SOME, would agree.

  • eyadayesh, your arguement is mute for these things have been around long before porn. Does it ADVOCATE it. Nah, not really, at least majority don't, however I can agree some do. Yet I believe it would be very rare for a sane individual to all of a sudden have an urge to rape or become a pedophile based on what he saw on a monitor, tv, magazine, etc. The ones who do are obviously messed up and going to commit one of these acts anyways, perhaps porn just spend up the process.

  • One cannot claim to be for human rights and freedom and support a male dominated and woman dishonoring and hating profession such as pornography, if you do, then you are just a hypocrit and/or just hate religion so much that you are willing to support this JUST because it is all about sexual promiscuity, in that case, that person is really sick, blind and dumb for not realizing that religion and everything else can be right about somethings, if not all.

  • @eyadayesh To support the anti-porn movement is a blatant attack on our most fundamental freedoms. Free thinking adults have the right to choose weather or not to view pornography, just as free thinking adults have the right to choose weather or not to participate in making porn films. If you don't believe in porn, don't watch it, and don't participate in it. Otherwise, let people make their own damn decisions...that's real liberty.

  • @TheGunslinger91 so, where do you draw the line? What about people who want to view bestial porn or child porn? They argue that it is their right to view that stuff.

  • @theyellowchameleon The line is clear: consenting adult (humans). It's the anti-porn crowd that attempts to blur the line, another intellectually dishonest tactic

  • I think you just hate men in general.

  • @Hudsucker94 Yeah, I guess I must hate myself.

  • I didn't say that. Why would you say that?

  • @Hudsucker94 Because I am a man myself, a straight man for the record. I do not hate men, I hate pornography.

  • But why do you hate pornography? And is it really porno you hate,or people, women included, who view and even make and star in it? Or are you just in denial that people do it of they're own free will? And don't give the same reason it's not real, not everyone looks like that,no shit. But hey,I like tits, ass, and legs, what's so bad about that?

  • @Hudsucker94 I believe sex is something sacred between a man and a woman in a committed relationship, and pornography objectifies people and sex, and yes, women. Whether they choose it or not, does not mean I will accept the self exploitation of women and men. I am well aware that porn is exciting, but I am someone who refuses to bas my views on what is below my naval, but base on what is in my heart, soul and mind. Porn makes men not respect women and seeing them is objects, it is addictive

  • Mm,I disagree on the objectifying part. Porn doesn't make men object women, men choose to object women. Porn has nothing to do with that. As for self exploitation, well, what about say circus performers,or the people who hang from piercings in they're back? How does porn make men not respect women? What about respect for men?

  • @Hudsucker94 Porn teaches and encourages men to do objectify women, if you refuse to see that then that is your choice. As for the circus, that is not comparable to sexual explotation, the circus is just clean eccentric humor, sex is something deeper, literally lol, personal, and a matter of morality, health and respect. You and I can sit here an argue all year and won't agree, so lets not continue this debate, thank you.

  • Oh but I want to continue. You're the one who keeps responding,I ain't making you. Well, like the circus, they choose to do it. And while I agree about the whole deeper and morality thing about sex, what about married people who use pornography in they're private sex lives? Or are you gonna say they objectify women/men?

  • Comment removed

  • @Hudsucker94 Pornography is like getting drunk or getting a drug overdose is bad, no matter how fun it may be, in the long run it is not good and messes with our minds. This is m y last response even if you repond back. Nice talking to you and no hard feelings, peace.

  • @eyadayesh How does watching people have sex 'mess with your mind'. Maybe if you watch real disturbing weird material, but the kind of porn that the majority of people watch is simply men and women having sex. None of this horror show that's described whenever feminists and anti-porn people rant about this stuff! It's people having sex and it's general people of above average apperance because that's what consumers want to see. This is just modern day puritanism. I like how you also think that

  • getting drunk 'messes with your head'. Maybe if you do it everyday it will because it can kill brain cells but plenty of people such as myself drink from time to time, control ourselves, don't drive an automobile and have a good time without hurting anyone. Fuck puritanism I will advocate for freedom always. You people who can't handle it are like little kids!

  • @eyadayesh What the hell is 'objectify'? What a nonsensical term. Any time a person is attracted to someone physically they are 'objectifying' them. It's just a way to say physical attraction that makes it sound inherently degrading. Except somehow when a woman admires a man's appearance it's not objectifying. So a woman calling a muscular man a 'hunk' for instance, that's not objectifying, but if I'm physically attracted to a woman's body it is. It's ridiculous! Most of the men in porn are

  • muscular, toned and have much larger than average penises. How is this not as equally 'objectifying'?

  • @Hudsucker94 Porn gives false images on both men and women's physical attributes. Porn is about profit, at the expense of others. Read and watch the testimonies of many former porn stars, there is plenty. I surely would not want my daughter or mother or sister associated with this profession, why should I be for the female relatives of others, that includes the male relaves too? I think you and I should not waste our time arguing about this, you have your perspective and I have mine.

  • Oh,I think it's worth arguing about. No shit the media gives false images about things, but it's not they're fault if you fall for they're shit. It's you'res. Porn is about profit? Uh,and other buisnesses aren't? Expense of others? Again, these people choose to do this. Just like some people choose to go skydiving,or to eat undercooked steak. Well, hey,as for former pornstars,it's not for everyone is it?

  • @eyadayesh 'False images of physical attributes' = there are people out there who look better than me. Sorry that's life! And your daughters, sisters and mothers should be free to make their own choices! You can try to influence them with your opinions but at the end of the day adults should be free to choose and free from the coercion of people like yourself who feel that they know what's best for everyone. That's outside of your fucking jurisdiction as an individual! Everyone doesn't have to

  • live by YOUR standards! As long as no one is violating your rights directly as in forcing you to watch porn at gunpoint or something then it's not your place to try to force your values on people and you're violating our rights by doing so.

  • Comment removed

  • @dubified89 Oh telling me to let them make up their own mind and decisions no matter what is not you telling me what is best for them? You just do not want to deprive yourself the enjoyment of seeing naked women, end of story! What is life is that as people, we all want what is best for our loved ones, whether they agree or not, just as even you would not tell your child or any loved one of yours to go kill themselves if that is what they wanted to do. You do not know me to judge me.

  • @dubified89 "'False images of physical attributes' = there are people out there who look better than me. " FALSE. As in, "this statement is blatantly not true." Rather: 'False images of physical attributes' = the spectrum of women's bodies displayed in media and porn is nothing like the spectrum in the real world, and furthermore, even those out-of-the-ordinary bodies are airbrushed and photoshopped and shot in soft focus and on and on- even they don't really look like they do on magazines.

  • Freedom is not without limits, if something advocates disresepect or harm to any particular group based on gender, ethnicity, race, etc., then that in a free and civilized society is unacceptable. Pornography has many elements and videos that advocates rape, incest (father doing his daughter), pedophelia, and basically seeing the woman as a hole to enter, calling her dirty and pig and slut and bitch and whore and all other degrading terms, and sshe is treated as a conquered sex object.

  • Your are soooo right! I agree with everything youve said!

  • Feraverdi youve got issues. Watching porn for research purposes lol are you a big joke or just plain silly. The disgusting videos you seem to have researched explains why you have pent up frustrations.

  • LOL you make me laugh.

I think you need to see someone.

  • I was about to offer you the same advice. You need professional help a shrink comes to mind.

ps dildos should come with a health warning better used with a partner

  • Wow!

    saaaaad.

  • okay this debate is getting somewhat immature, if you dont like porn or have a non existent sex life thats your problem just dont have a go at those of us who are having fun.

  • Lmao! i love how you think people who dont enjoy porn dont have a sex life... is there something wrong with you.. retarded maybe??

  • Well your sex lifes obviously non existent from the comments your making. Get out more, try being adventurous, buy a sex doll, use a dildo, get whipped lol

  • okay im done with you. Your boring.

  • Ignore the dumb replies. Society is slowly growing to realize the point that you are making.

  • Only a pervert male chauvinistic pig who wants to conquer all women, but is unable so he needs it for pleasuring himself and wants no man to conquer his mother, daughter, sister, etc., because he is a hypocrit lowlife, would support pornography.

  • I am not a pervert, chauvinistic or a pig. I don't want to conquer all women, I am happy with my GF, and I hardly ever even watch porn. And I support the existence of porn in the same way I support everyone's right of free speech.

  • I will probably get a lot of negative clicks for this remark but the truth is the truth. Feminism is useless against porn because it is ultimately as misogynistic as porn itself.

  • Feminism are the once who advocated for pornography to begin with.

  • @feedtherightwolf

WRONG. Feminists advocated sexual liberation as they still do. Pornography is just a new form of sexual puritanism, the doctrine of which is built up around satisfying the sexual desire of men, rather than women.

  • Isn't she the person interviewed on the "bullshit" program?

Everyone should go watch that episode. The one about pornography.

  • Yea that was funny she totally got raped by Penn and Teller.

  • Yeah. Every supporter this lady has, do this before jumping over us with comments and crap: Go watch the "Bullshit" episode about porn. See both sides, people.

  • Faggot? You're the one who's so fond of fat chodes and pounding dicks.

  • "you guys are fucking rediculous"

    rediculous? You mean ridiculous?

...maybe you should learn to spell?

  • That bitch should go get laid. Maybe with a cock on her mouth she'd finally shut up.

  • Its a womens body they can do with it what this wish sorry

  • They can..

But does that mean they should?

  • What do you want them to do work at mcdonalds.

  • I'd have more respect for them.

I'd rather see someone work hard for an honest living rather than selling their body for cash.

  • If they want to have sex on film to entertain, I don't see why they shouldn't.

  • Would their parents approve? Doesn't have to meet their parents expectations, but could something like this NOT upset them?

Could they be asked by people "what do you do for a living?" can they respond with their head up high and with enough confidents to say "I fuck random people on film for cash!"?

I believe people can and will do what they deem necessary to survive, but may not always be the best choice.

  • You seem to have your mind setted on "porn actors do it for money". Sure, it's a job, but have you not considered that many might LOVE their job?

Parents disapproving, society looking down on it... all due to people like you.

  • Can we help that society looks down at garbage?

Anyone that would approve of anything of that sort, would HAVE to be the same level of that it approves.

    Quite logical actually.

  • Why is it "garbage"?

Why is it more garbage than action movies with stupid plots, bad acting and lots of explosions?

Some people want to see action, explosions and car chases. Fine, they can. Some people want to see explicit sex.

Give me one reason to outlaw this garbage and keep action movies legal. Neither are art.

  • lmao....... dude that's hilarious.

You put pornography in the same catagory as action movies.

    That's a flat out joke.

If you asked why it's garbage I would have gave you many reasons, but the fact you just did that... enough said.

  • Porn and bad action movies? Let's see what they have in common:

1- They couldn't be considered "art" or even "good"

2- They have fans who want to see them and are willing to pay. Therefore they fill a need on the market.

3- They restrict the age of the viewers based on the content.

Now tell me why you wouldn't put them on the same category.

I'm beginning to think that you believe sex is bad. Are you a fundamentalist Christian or something?

  • Interesting, that describes a lot of rap music to. What's your point?

"I'm beginning to think that you believe sex is bad. Are you a fundamentalist Christian or something?"

Going to point this out to you, since you're obviously not too swift in the head. Christians DO NOT think sex is bad, they believe it is a sin to have intercourse BEFORE marriage. If you're going to accuse me of being a Christian than do it correctly.

  • My point is simple: Some rap music may be bad and not art, and the same goes for most action movies and porn, but you only seem to be interested on outlawing porn. And I ask you why.

And before, instead of answering the question, you rambled. You said "That's a flat out joke. If you asked why it's garbage I would have gave you many reasons, but the fact you just did that... enough said"

And that didn't answer the question.

  • I was near years old, going to record a video off a blank VHS when i pushed play to first see what was on it I found pornography. It was traumatizing. This would have to be how MOST 9 year olds would feel.

  • OK, I don't know who was watching you when you were a little child, but they suck at taking take of children.

If damaging kids for accidental exposure is the reason to outlaw porn, then we should also outlaw guns, tobacco, some video games, violent movies and alcohol, don't you think?

Yet you only focus on porn. Why?

You got traumatized not because porn exists, but because some irresponsible adult let a porn VHS tape laying around on a house where children lived.

  • I used to watch Halloween, Die hard, all the most violent horror/action films at this time, but NOTHING made me feel the way that did.

First off, movies are fictional, that was not.

2nd, if you were caught watching an R rated film how would you feel?

Now try that same scenario with a porn movie, if you were caught watching it would you feel embaressed? ..or ashamed?

3rd you don't touch yourself watching aciton films as you do pron.

4th pornography can be addicting habbit.

  • Tobacco can also be addictive. Should we outlaw it?

Video games are addictive too, and alcohol, and internet forums.

    -

"you don't touch yourself watching aciton films as you do pron"

I am sure some people do. But that's not the point.

The point is, what is wrong about masturbation?

  • BTW, I just love how when you know you're wrong you just jump on someone for their beliefsm, or try to accuse someone of having one. That really makes you win arguments.

    Agnosticism, currently defines me.

  • It was apparently my brothers VHS tape but anyways.

outlaw violence? again here we go.

Violent movies/video games are ficitonal, pornography is not. If people were really dying in live action films I would say BAN THEM!

What's wrong with masturbation? Ask Pee Wee Herman.

  • "What's wrong with masturbation? Ask Pee Wee Herman"

That's like saying "Eating is wrong. Ask Marlon Brando".

    -

"Violent movies/video games are ficitonal, pornography is not"

OK, let's say the porn industry from now on produces nothing but 3D computer generated porn that is indistinguishable from the real thing, but it's entirely FICTIONAL. Would that be OK with you?

  • If masturbation isn't filthy why can't you do it in public? Nobody wants to see or hear about it.. hmm.. why...

If pornography was CGI..hmm.. I guess it wouldn't be half as bad than.

  • There's nothing wrong with masturbation. NOTHING. Ask a doctor.

We can't defecate or urinate in public, we can't have sex in public and we can't be naked in public. That doesn't mean that there's something wrong with defecation, urination, sex or the human body.

    -

"if pornography was CGI I guess it wouldn't be half as bad"

So the problem for you is the fact that some people are willing to participate in filmed sex.

  • "Masturbation" Is a sexual act, if that would be unhealthy than so would sex, and sex is natural.

That's like saying practicing kick boxing or any sort of martial art material is healthy (which it is) so I should practice and kick the shit out of someone!

"So the problem for you is the fact that some people are willing to participate in filmed sex."

You mean participate for money, no one does it for free. This is prostitution.. on film.

  • In the country where I was born, most porn actors work for free. So the only motivation they have is the desire to do it.

Also, what is wrong with prostitution?

Also, I guess we agree now that the argument against porn based on the fact that people masturbate watching it has no weight, right?

  • "Also, I guess we agree now that the argument against porn based on the fact that people masturbate watching it has no weight, right?"

    How is it not?

And again i don't care where you claim you were born, NO ONE works for free unless they were FORCED to do it.

masturbation is perverted, and the only way you'd find that out is if your mother caught you.

  • Some people do it just for fun, and some LOVE having sex on film.

Where I was born there's no real "film industry", much less an adult film industry. making porn was illegal till the early 90s, and the only porn movies produced then were low budget, amateur ones. So they didn't pay the actors because the films themselves made almost no money. The actors worked for free and no one forced them.

  • "masturbation is perverted, and the only way you'd find that out is if your mother caught you. "

Masturbation is normal, healthy and advisable. I would be ashamed if my mom entered my room to find me masturbating, sure, but I would feel ashamed if she entered the bathroom and saw me defecarting. That wouldn't mean that to defecate is "perverted".

  • I love how you typed out all that information but no real location. SO where were you born, never land?

If your mother caught you "defecate", or taking a shit if you will, you'd be embarrassed not ashamed. There's a BIG difference.

"Masturbation is normal, healthy and advisable."

No, sorry just because a lot of people do it doesn't make it normal. If everyone jumped off a bridge at the age of 13 would that be normal too?

  • If my mom saw me taking a shit I would be embarrased, not humilliated or ashamed, and the exact same goes for masturbation.

I think you have a very outdated idea about masturbation. Masturbation is normal.

  • You just contradicted youself.

"I would be ashamed if my mom entered my room to find me masturbating" -you

    You know this is true.

"If my mom saw me taking a shit I would be embarrased, not humilliated or ashamed, and the exact same goes for masturbation." -You

    You know this is false.

  • At first I was using the terms "ashamed" and "embarrased" indistinctly. Since you made the dinstinction (which I guess is a correct one) I changed my words.

  • "You know this is false"

Oh,but it isn't. Some years ago I remember I made a joke about sperm donation and both my mom and my dad were there. We were talking about sperm samples and I said something like "they should come here to get mine. I donate in my room all the time anyway".We all laughed. Then my dad said something like "maybe they will let you fill the jar from here" and I said "the clinic is 11 kilometers away, and I have the power to make my sample get there, but not the aim".

  • You and your family have a sick sense of humor. But some have worse.

You can spend hours arguing with a pedophile that what he does is wrong and he will refuse to admit so.

I watched a youtube video how a camera man confronted a 70 year old pedophile who was recently released from jail and kept asking him questions.

He felt if the children were willing to "play with him" he thought it was alright.

  • "You and your family have a sick sense of humor"

Excuse me? We were adults making the kind of jokes adults sometimes do.

My parents and I also enjoy Mr. Bean and Monty Python.

    --

"I watched a youtube video how a camera man confronted a 70 year old pedophile who was recently released from jail and kept asking him questions."

I saw that one too. That man was insane and dangerous. That's why what he did is illegal.

Porn is not for insane, dangerous people and it is legal.

  • porn may be legal (assuming no one is under 18) but prostituion is not. Not here, anyways. (which are who you see in porn videos). The irony.

Tell me, how would you feel if your mother was into that buisness and people lusted for her at all times of the day?

How can you masturbate towards women and still respect them?

Or do you already know that you don't respect women?

  • I respect women and I don't watch porn, except for the ocasional porno mag, but when I masturbate, of course I am thinking about females. Does that mean I have no respect for them?

Prostitution is not illegal. And if it is, it shouldn't be.

    -

"how would you feel if your mother was into that buisness"

Weirded out, but her choices are hers to make.

  • How do you lust for women and still have respect for them?

That's like saying "I respect the law, but I don't obey it".

If your mother was in the industry of pornography I'm certain you would NEVER look at your mother the same way again.

Prostitution is illegal in the US (except Nevada) And it should stay illegal. There's more harm in prostitution, than meets the eye.

  • Do you believe in looking at both sides of an argument?

    -

What? in order to respect women I have to stop to find them sexually attractive?

    -

"I'm certain you would NEVER look at your mother the same way again"

Since you know me better than I know myself, what am I thinking about right now?

  • How can your mother degrade herself and you still look upon her the same way? You must live in filth or something.

"What? in order to respect women I have to stop to find them sexually attractive?"

How is that even relevant to the subject?

"Since you know me better than I know myself, what am I thinking about right now?"

You're thinking the internet is for porn. Obviously.

  • I was thinking about my facial hair and the fact that I should shave more often. Really, that is what I was thinking.

And I do not live in filth. My mom, in fact, pretty much would agree with you on the porn issue.

Actually, I'm pretty sure you and I are more similar than different. We happen to disagree on this subject, obviously.

  • I meant *That is relevant* sorry

  • I just asked a girl I know and she would take it very offensively if you were to do the things you do while imagining her.

So much for it being harmless, and not being disrespectful eh?

  • Very interesting! As someone that formerly participated in the sex industry, I very much relate to the feeling of being an outsider. However, ten years later, I find that it is now common to think of someone that raises serious issues with porn as outside of popular norms or worse, a prude. I am not a prude & yet I have issues with porn. The culture is inundated with sexualized images of women & the entitlement of men to view those images has created an imbalance in sexuality.

  • Women (especially young women) are struggling to keep up with sexualized images. I know the statements that I make are generalizations and there are many exceptions, but this is generally the direction I see pop culture heading. Porn itself is not problematic, but the standardization of viewing women as objects of sexual pleasure is.

  • this is AWESOME!!! where was this??? I WANNA GO! omg people like me! we're hard to come by

  • Don't worry... there are women like us around. :)

  • Yes! There are people sick and tired of this porn culture..

  • Comment removed

  • It seems to be her aim to censure sexual freedoms and in this way her views are truly fascist.

  • Later in this talk she calls porn rape, which I think is truly offensive. Porn depicts consenting adults who are free to walk away at any time.

You could argue that some of the women in porn have made bad decisions but it's their life to do with as they please. It's clear that there are many women in the porn industry who do not feel exploited and truly enjoy what they are doing. Dines here doesn't want women to be free to do with their bodies as they please.

  • Go anti-porn feminists!

  • Because food commercials do not make me want to eat.

    /sarcasm.

If somebody wants to assert that porn is healthy and harmless, then they need to prove it. Because there's only about a ton of peer-reviewd research by now which does prove the harm.

  • [citation needed]

  • Doesn't the fact that many of the people at that conference have been campaigning against pornography for forty years, during which time the porn industry has largely come of the shadows, clearly suggest that the majority of people do not accept your description of it as "a form of violence against women"?

There are so many horrible things happening to women all over the world its really rather depressing that this seems to be so high up the list of priorities for feminism.

  • she needs to get laid.. this is coming from a feminist, a feminist who is sick of other feminist who go to extremes.

  • Interesting speech. I will start out stating, for the record that I am heterosexual male who disagrees with you completely. That being said, I would like to know what specifically it is about pornography you find so objectionable. And if possible, I'd like specific objections, as apposed to vague proclamations like "it causes rape" which are impossible or at the very least remarkably difficult to prove. I say this because while I am not a big porn advocate, by any stretch, I am disturbed...

  • by any trend toward censorship. If it is legal to have sex, and legal to videotape things (provided everyone is of the consenting legal age), then why exactly should it be illegal to videotape that legal activity? Your use of emotional language works against you, not for you.

You are right about feminism having changed the world more than once. But the goal of any ideology which hopes to survive cannot possibly be to completely eliminate anything that conflicts with its adherents.

  • Womans sexuality is different and one of the lies that porn promotes is that women can be promiscuous like men which is untrue. Also promiscuity is damaging to women. You should find this on the antipornography website on prostition.Porn is filmed or photographed prostition.

  • If women were allowed control over their own bodies, then there would be a lot less porn available,I assure you.

  • Could you elaborate on this please?

  • To what Purpose? It is very self-explanitory. Women in the world are being treated in this manner and men in the world are masturbating to it. Would those men still masturbate to women being degrated if it was a woman that they cared about?

  • Some people get off on being degraded sexually. And some people get off on other people watching these degrading acts happen to them. You don't need to go any further than xtube (basically youtube for porn: people submit their own homemade porn videos with no financial incentive and for no reason other than they wanted people to see it) to see that this is the case. If you don't like degrading sex, don't participate in it. It's as simple as that.

  • Furthermore, the people involved may not necessarily see the sex acts as being degrading, that's your interpretation.

  • Also ONLY women can be allowed to speak out about porn since it features women and most women will tell you that its degrading or at least think of it that way and only women should be allowed to have the say on anything concerning womens sexuality. Also the women in this speech are feminists and only feminists interpretration(because it features OUR asin womens sexulaity) counts as all women are feminist to varying degrees

  • First of all, a lot of porn features men AND women or men only, so this is simplifying the issue.

I would agree with you however, that my interpretation, or the interpretation of all men, doesn't matter. However, neither does the interpretation of all women or the "feminist" interpretation (not all feminists agree with you btw). The ONLY interpretation that matters is that of the person who is involved in the sex act. It's their body, and it's their choice.

  • Responding to your message to me:

Banning porn is indeed limiting sexual freedom. It's very simple: At present anyone is FREE if they choose to to perform any legal sex act, film it, and present it to the general public. You could argue that taking away this freedom is justified, but it is still taking away a sexual freedom.

The definition you give of porn being "extreme denigration of women" is overly narrow because most porn in fact does not depict denigrating sex.

  • I don't claim to be an expert on women's sexuality in particular, but I do claim that human sexuality in general is extremely varied and everyone, man and woman alike, have all sorts of different desires and preferences. Your preferences are not the preferences of every woman.

  • Your assertion that women can't enjoy being promiscuous or that sex without love is necessarily cruel for women is ludicrous. I know several women personally who would strongly disagree. Promiscuity is not what I choose for myself, but that's my preference.

  • You are ignorant and unaware of the world around you. I feel sorry for you.

  • Do you want to have a debate or do you just want to throw around personal attacks and insults? Weak.

  • No it is weak to say that just because people enjoy pornography and get off on the routine humiliation and degradation of other human beings, that it is ok. If you care to debate, then I would like to hear your opinion on the fact that most women who work in the pornography industry have been sexually abused in thier young lives. Not to mention the fact that 85% of women in prostitution meet the diagnostic criteria for PTSD, and women in the sexual exploitation industries are most prone to rape

  • I think that there should still be a choice available for people to participate in the sex industry. However, there are horrific abuses within the sex industry that is both degrading and dehumanizing. How does we as a culture address the routine getting off to the evidence of those abuses? How do we stop those abuses from happening when it is wrong to cut off choices and there the demand for it is normalized?

  • We stop the abuses by stopping the demand. The industry cannot be reformed; it is never alright to purchase the use of a person's body.

  • Just because some people get off on degrading things, it doesn't mean that it is healthy sexual behavior. For your information, most women who participate in pornography have been sexually abused in their lives. So it is no wonder that they are ok with people getting off to their degradation. If you cannot see that then you are beyond my concern.

  • I do want a debate, so I'll ask you nicely to refrain from the personal attacks.

So on to your points: On your assertion that most women in pornography have been sexually abused. Can you provide a primary source for that (i.e. a peer-reviewed paper where the statistics were actually gathered, not just someone saying it)? If it's out there I haven't been able to find it.

Regarding the notion that sexual behavior involving degradation is unhealthy...

  • ...can you find any consensus or even majority opinion among psychiatrists that consensual degrading sexual behavior is unhealthy? My estimation is that you find quite the opposite: within reasonable limits (such as personal safety, the use of safe words etc.) the majority would tell you that in and of itself it is not unhealthy (although it can become a problem, much like gambling, shopping and a wide array of other things).

Sadomasochism, which can involve elements of degradation...

  • ...is only defined as a psychiatric disorder in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders if it "cause[s] clinically significant distress or impairment in social, occupational, or other important areas of functioning". So if the person is comfortable with it and it doesn't stop them from functioning, then it is not considered a disorder.

If there is a significant amount of rape in the pornography industry, then I agree that it must be stopped...

  • ...but that's not a problem with pornography itself, its a problem with abuses within the industry. The more the industry is out in the open, the less it will be able to happen - and any woman in a porn film who believes she was raped should of course report it.

Finally, the thrust of your argument seems to be that women in porn are only doing it because they have mental disorders. It's probably true that some people in porn are doing it for the wrong reasons, but...

  • is it the government's place to ban anything that might be a bad decision for some people? What about the women who are of sound mind and have made the reasoned decision to be in pornography? Do they own their bodies (and therefore can do what they want with them) or does the state?

  • Thats propaganda. The fact is that it is because male and female sexuality is different that pornography is degrading to women. Also there is a scarcity of men 'choosing' to be degraded in porn. Also it is ridiculous to assume that anyone would like to be humiliated in any way.Would you like to (for example) be forced to eat horseshit?

  • Well it's not the norm but being humiliated is a turn on for many people (both men and women). If you think there's a lack of porn featuring men being humiliated, then I would suggest your knowledge of the porn canon is rather limited.

No one is arguing that anyone should be forced to commit any sex act against their will. When this happens it is wrong - end of story. To answer your question, no, but I'm not every person (and jeez, what kind of kinky stuff are you watching? ;) ).

  • Would you enjoy being fucked by fifteenguys and having each of them cum in your mought one right after the other? Would you want the women in your life that you care about, assuming that there are any, to be used in this manner?

  • You ask the good questions!

  • _Some_ women would enjoy that - as long as it is consensual there is no problem.

  • In men who are already predisposed to rape, porn encourages their beliefs of superiority against women. And SOMETIMES causes other types of men to want to rape.Another objection is that it separates sex from love and tells men and boys lies about womens sexuality. Also it is cruel to have someone have sex with someone that he/she does not love.Women have the tendency more than men do, of having sex with a man that she loves and therefore it is unnatural.

  • How could you think pornography does not promote rape?

When a man is watching porn, why would he not want to actually have sex with someone? If he or she wants it but cannot get it, it's when rape occurs. Think, if people were not exposed to porn, how different would everyone notions be?

  • @swimmingwgoggles This logic is so absurd. I have news for you: men want to have sex whether they see pornography or not. And rape occurs whether there is ACCESS to pornography or not (in civilizations where the public cannot even use the internet for example). Seeing porn will not make an otherwise functional man a rapist. Could it be a tipping point for someone who already has that in them? Possibly. But so could a music video, or a photo spread in a magazine. We can't outlaw everything.

  • @UCKABAH It notes that I watched this video three years ago, and I am not willing to watch it again for the time being because I remember my perfectly valid and proven logic. I am quite aware men have sexual urges, (what, every seven seconds he thinks about sex?) but to be clear, my point was that a man's sexual desire is easily perverted. When you watch porn are you fantasizing about having intercourse with your computer chair? I hope not. You are fantasizing about a woman/man on the screen

  • @UCKABAH or someone you know. It is proven that people become desensitized more and more as well. To get off after awhile, he/she needs something more intens. Look at some of the most gruesome and merciless serial killers: Ted Bundy, Charles Manson, Ed Gein, and the Zodiac Killer. They were sexually twisted and disgusting individuals who all killed women for the rush. It satisfied their thirst that even regular sex could not even quench. You should ask them if they ever watched porn and if it

  • @UCKABAH would even do anything for them. Desires get more intense as people are exposed to porn. If you can't live without it, it is an addiction. We have the most gruesome serial rapists/murderers in the modern era as the access to pornography becomes easier and easier. It also hurts marriages and children who are sold into the sex trafficking industry. My point is that pornography will not be the end to sexual depravity and any functional person can become messed up. Don't think human nature

  • @UCKABAH does not apply to some very enlightened people. Everyone has badness within them. Music videos, magazines, television, et cetera, everything is more and more about sex because human urges don't just stop. Pornography cannot become outlawed because it is a major industry thanks to people like yourself who give it more undeserved power. How did sex trafficking even begin?

  • @swimmingwgoggles I'm not sure what "people like yourself" is supposed to mean. I have watched porn, yes, but I'm not here to stand up for it and champion it as something wonderful and fantastic. At the end of the day, we cannot just censor things because we don't like or agree with them. If people like yourself had their way, it would be outlawed, forcing the industry underground and if you think it's perverted and exploitive now, wait until it is made completely illegal. Citing serial killers-
