I would suggest you read the book "Lost Lives" by David McKittrick. He has gathered together the stories behind each death in the Troubles. I have read it and had to put it down in tears. Completely innocent men women and children were mown down for 30 years by their self-appointed executioners in the UVF and the IRA. Read Martin Dillon's book about the Butchers and he points out mirror image murders by the IRA.

The Free State established in 1922 was Home Rule and is only what the Irish Parliamentary Party wanted anyway before 1916. The majority of the Irish people voted for the Treaty in a referendum. Sinn Fein did not have a single elected MP until the 1980's. They ignored the democratic will of the Irish people North and South and the peace protests.
