It's not the whole bullet that came back and hit him, probably just the bullet's copper jacket that got stripped off when he shot at something hard (steel plate?). Happens often with all calibres at short ranges when shooting at hard but non-energy absorbing or reactive targets.
the stupid sound during the ricochet is probably an over-sound which meant to make people hear that the ricochet actually happened.... this is one lucky guy
I believe that they're actually shooting into a cast-iron engine block on this one, not a steel plate, which is easily pitted and can cause ricochets. It's important to keep your plates or hard targets flat to prevent ricochets.
that wouldnt have been hard to fake. some micro-pyrotechnics for the bounce in the dirt and a string to pull off the ear protection. no way to prove it either way
The only REAL problem with his shooting is it looks like he did not angle his back stop with a 45 degree downward angle. I don't care what your shooting or how thick the steel is, some parts of the round are going to ricochet. I was shooting at a 1/8th inch steel plate with a 7.62x39mm. and my uncle did not angle the steel, as i didn't know, and a piece of my first round ended up coming back and ripping his hand open.
Assuming the bullet is regular FMJ ball ammo and nothing fancy, it will disintegrate on impact on a hardened steel surface. The centrifugal force on the bullet (spinning approx 250,000rpm) will cause it to spray out perpendicular to the path of the bullet in hundred of fragments, not come straight back. A shotgun slug from a smoothbore can splashback to the shooter as there is no rifling. Steel core ammo is also more likely to "bounce back". Best to check ammo with a magnet to be sure.
the 12 slugs for shotguns are rifled so they spin they also have the power to penetrate steel that's a 1/4th inch thick ...... also the steal core ammo is supposed to "penetrate" not ricochet.... your talking out your rear end.....
12 gauge slugs have just enough rifling so they don't tumble but nothing like the spin of going down a rifled barrel. They will go through 6mm regular mild steel (approx 120 Brinell) but steel targets are generally made out of much harder steel (500 Brinell) so no chance of penetrating with regular ammo. I'm not talking about AP ammo. Lead shortages mean some of the cheaper ammo brands and especially ex-military stuff from former Soviet Union uses steel as its cheaper.
close shot, as it is in basic geometry and triginometry, a bullet will if it hits 2 points exactly in a triangle, no matter what angle, will return to its original point minus velisoty. It machinist math 101.
if the angles all equal to 90 degrees and what not. LOL. Freaky shot. And prob hard to repeat, god forbid.
aha, but you assume that the bullet would remain in a shape that allowed straight flight, half the reason ricochets are so unpredictable is the bullet is deformed and so curves, moves in random directions and so on...
your right was probably not flying in a straight path. and if it was it would have gone somewhere else. the bullets trajectory was different on its way back but the shape made it move in an different direction towards the shooter.
You obviously did not see the HUGE graze mark on the side, and the fact that the whole padding part came out of the shell. Try actually LOOKING at the video a bit.
WOW i didn't know this subject was such a big deal to u guys...it may or may not be real. I think that anything is possible. Just as real as Big foot and the Lochness monster. AND UFO's.
he had some on. the film quality is low so its hard to see them, but believe me, he had 'em. shooting a gun of that caliber without hearing protection is just plain retarted.
Spitfireneil, you are a complete moron. Let me guess, you're a 9/11 conspiracy theorist as well? This event was documented by the various men who were there and people KNOW them, it's not some hoax you childish fool.
777, why are you posting a video which isn't yours and was posted well before you buy the people who were there? I hate when I see people grab and steal a video like it's theirs and post it all over youtube 100 times duplicated.
I bet your one of those stuck up types who believes that he/she knows everything about anything. How about this, find something better to do with your time other than complaining about a stupid video that may or may not have been posted more than once by various users and then decide to degrade people based on your bias opinions of people that you have never met in your life.
Spitfireneil was simply exploring other ways and or ideas on how this could be a hoax, like how it is done in movies.
In conclusion, get a life, find something better to do with your time, learn how to accept other peoples opinions and or thoughts, try building people up for a change, you'll find it makes people like you!
Accept other peoples stupidity you mean? Like yours? Sorry, I don't bow down to idiots to often or too easily, nor accept them on a Youtube comment box. I have plenty of free time after work to pick on fools, mind you. It just so happens I know how to separate life from Youtubeness, and fortunately here we can be honest without paying a price. And what a better time than to be honest about my feelings. Wonderful ol America here we have it. Now what were you trying to convince me to do?
By the way. I blocked you. Stupidity? I think not. I was merely pointing out that someone somewhere might have a different opinion. I'm not saying I agree with the opinion, I'm just saying there is one.
How can you talk about "Wonderful ol America" when you are located in Australia. Why complain about a place where you're not located? Or, you lied about where you live, which is, well lets just say "retarted". There is such a thing as constuctive criticism. I recomend using it.
mabey, but as i recall, an AR-50 isnt semi-auto. Notice the shell that ejects. It is on the wrong side though. So i'm still thinking a left handed M82/M107. Again, not really sure.
if you look closely there is no shell ejecting, theres 3 little objects, ive never heard of a left handed barrett nor a rifle that ejects 3 spent casings at once.
yeah he is one lucky guy. It hit the ground and richocheted to the headphones. almost killed him! Lesson: Dont EVER shoot at a STATIONARY steel plate!
