  • Too personal of a song for James to sing in concert it seems to me, but a lovely, lovely song. We're so blessed to have this man.

  • What a gorgeous video to go along with one of the most beautiful songs I've heard in a long time. Thank you JT for the song; thank you granako for the video :)

  • @shaz1107 Funny you should make this comment today... I just got home from a James Taylor concert in Toronto:)! He didn't sing this one:)!

  • With all his great songs "Caroline I See You" is still my favorite.

  • Great job!

  • AMAZING PICS! I WANT TO GO THEREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!

  • Thank you so very much. I've loved JT forever and ever. This is one of my favorite songs...there have been many...this one trumped quite a few. Also has special meaning to me because I have a special Caroline in my life. Thanks for taking the time to do this!

  • I have been in love with james taylor's work since i was 12... when i first heard it and of all his tunes.. this is my favourite. for its chords and the luscious tone and the pure love behind it. free. crazy. i truly cry from depths even hidden to me when i hear this. it is my song too. i love it james and i love the cello part... and i love life with this song in it. thank you.

  • BEAUTIFUL !!!

Again a strike by the so classy Mr James Taylor, respect.

  • This is a song of work; the beauty of which I've never had the pleasure to experience...*

    GodSpeed Sir...*& Thank you...*

  • James wrote it for his current wife. I saw him sing it live a few years back when he toured to support the October Road album. Even better live. He is one of the few performers I have seen who adds value to his songs when singing live.

  • @GinaHough Gina, I have seen JT many times but regrettably never heard this song live. one of my favorites as is the entire October Road album. Where did you see him perform this? Was it at Tanglewood?

  • @gwrprinret it was when he was in London at the Apollo in Hammersmith promoting the launch of October Road. Great concert. He used to live just around the corner from the theatre at the end of the 60s apparently.

  • I LOVE this song! He's a genius. Although long, I adore the intro! It's just bliss.. thank you for sharing :)

  • My favourtie James Taylor song ever!! The piano and violins are so moving. I believe that the lyrics are evocative of drug use, but the emotionality conveyed is spellbinding. I think that when asked his favourite all time song James Taylor named 'Caroline I see you'.

  • molkners. hi honey, love our post...you are clearly highly sensitive n spiritual..pls share with me what you were saying bout 'evocative of drug use' cos i don't get it...n i would love to talk to someone bout james, i only ever talk to my sis bout him cos we both adore him! xx many thanks n merry christmas to you xx

  • When my parents divorced this song made me feel special (and it still does).. Because my mum cried for this song when she was listening it in her car, as I sat next to her.

    Thanks.

    Another Caroline in this world.

  • Crazy lyrics but great song.! I have always been a big JT fan. Love those crazy lyrics.

  • it's a song for me, thanks...a girl named caroline.

  • Great video, thanks!

  • Another great song from JT. Nice vid.

  • i can't help but get happy feelings inside when i listen to james taylor.

  • And yet another incredible JT song I have never heard. From my heart I thank you for this.

  • Tasteful composition. You should send this to James!..

  • Anyway, Granako's pairing of the movie scenes with the song inspired me to go online to catch up on Christopher Jones' life, as he "disappeared" when I was a teenager. ....really sad life. The wildness of the 60s and 70s did a lot of damage to a lot of us..that is why the melancholy of the song and the scenery were so evocative. Many were lost, in the truest sense of the word. A masterful evocation !

  • That's interesting.. I saw the footprints as those of him when he meets up with her-- wandering down the beach together, both glad for their mutual companionship, happy and in love. Caroline is the name of JT's wife- perhaps it was written to woo her, I'm not sure-

  • You are right, 4rainbowed--it is from JT about his current wife. He DID get the girl--but this song is so melancholy,it's hard to think about it about a currently happy relationship. It seems more about loss...But then, JT has always been melancholy. When I was young, I loved him, but would fall into a funk for days because my own melancholy just jumped in...Sign of a good singer--brings out one's own feelings and gives them voice, I suppose.

  • Also wanted to concur that you have an awesome talent for matching visual to "source music". My husband is going back to college for a second MFA in Film Music to learn to do just that. If you want to know more about the program, send me an email or indicate that here and I will send you one.

  • Yes, Granako, this may be about forgiveness...or of remembrance, of memories larger than life yet dwarfed by the earth and sea. It was sad that the actor who played the soldier, Christopher Jones, was one of Sharon Tate's last lovers. She was murdered when he made this film and he never went back to acting after that, except for one brief role in the 90s

  • To the poster: Did you make this video or is it an "official one"? Because, I swear, nobody could make such a beautiful vision of the images in the song. Thank you.!

  • Thank you for your kind word... I love the song and used images from the 1970 movie "Ryan's Daughter". A great movie worth seeing. Ryan's Daughter is David Lean's 1970 film which tells the story of an Irish girl who has an affair with a British soldier during World War I, despite opposition from her nationalist neighbours. The film stars Robert Mitchum, Sarah Miles and John Mills.

  • OUTSTANDING string arrangements for a lovely song.

  • Fabuleuse chanson, je ne remercierais jamais assez mon papa de m'avoir donné ce prénom ;-)

  • io lo ringrazio per averti creata!!!

  • he he ! ;-)

  • Beautiful! ☆☆☆☆☆

  • where can I download this?

  • @Crr15 Mr Taylor would appreciate it if you bought it; it's on his October Road CD. Written for his wife (they've been together for some fifteen years now). They have 9 year old twins and seem to be truly, truly happy.

  • @mariegau what are you talking about, I already have his cd...

  • Excellent video-Great song...Captured the mood-the melting in the middle...

  • Beautiful, thank you

  • Thanks for sharing this these tranquil moments of sound and vision mon ami. :o)

What a great addition to a World United. :o)

    Peace!

  • "And every fair from fair sometime declines,

By chance, or nature's changing course untrimm'd"

    Also through utter neglect!

  • This is truly beautiful! Not what I expected when I saw the title was James Taylor...As always, I leave feeling as if I've learned something! Thanks!

    Karen
