Hey everyone, I'm a singer/songwriter from a Newfoundland! I play guitar (kind of) I have original songs uploaded I write soft rock, love songs and piano pieces. I would love to know what you guys think! If I could get just a couple of people to listen, I'd be so grateful! Thanks!
The beautiful beach pictured at the end of the video is part of The Drook. A "drook" is a valley between two hills with a river running through it. It is a wonderful place to picnic, walk barefoot through the sand with children and grandchildren, listen to a fog horn on a foggy day or watch the caplin run and view whales. My only regret is that I don't get to stay in this special place as much as I would like. It is the special place that my husband and I go to.
I am a young Newfoundland photographer and i always fall in love even more with Newfoundland every time i see one of these videos, may i ask where some of these amazing shots are captured?
also everyone check out my FaceBook Photo Page ... "Devin Sooley's Photo's"
I was there in Newfoundland in 2010 and took the tour to Mistaken Point Ecological Reserve. Studies have shown that Mistaken Point represents the oldest Ediacaran fossils known anywhere, in fact the oldest large and architecturally complex organisms in Earth history. The tour, guided by Gov't of Canada biologists, is free and leaves from the Edge of Avalon Interpretive Centre at Portugal Cove South. It is a fair hike in but WELL WORTH IT. Here you'll view a 565 million year old sea floor!!
I have done a fair amount of travelling and always have said that there are no place on earth as beautiful as Newfoundland. Lived there and Labrador for 11 years. It was hard to leave it.
LOVE these commercials! I've been to Western Newfoundland (all the way up to L'Anse Aux Meadows and Gros Morne) and Red Bay, Labrador, but would love to see the fossils, as well as St. John's and the rest of the Avalon Peninsula. Worth a trip back there, for sure!
Thanks for the nudge, it is time I go home for another visit! I believe the video showed scenes of the Bonavista-Trinity region of the Island, just a few hours outside of the city.

Much of the footage, except for the fossils, comes from Fogo Island, around Tilting. Beautiful.
