Seriously, The STANDARD pull up is the only one that I couldn't done well. I just don't feel the muscle motivated by pull-up. It MUST BE my position. 'cause I strongly approve ur opinion that Deadlift works(I feels fantastic). So, I'm gonna figure out THE HELL how to do standard pull-ups. Maybe my back is not strong enough:(
I did P90X also....in the beginning I did the pullups where you put one foot on a chair. I slowly built up to doing about 3 without a chair...now that I finished P90X I'm doing about 10-15 reps (no chair).
I cannot do pull ups being 240 pounds. I have been able to do p90x for a little while now. Can I substitute wide grip lat pull downs or basically use the lat pull down machines to replace any sorts of pull ups? I mean how could one lift 240 pounds?
Thanks for mentioning how important the back is-- i work in a weight room, and I can't tell you how many guys come in and just work their biceps/chest and then leave. I hope somewhere on your videos you mention the importance of lowerbody exercises, because a guy with a great upperbody, but legs like a chicken looks strange and i see it all the time, too.
1)In your opinion, how important are rhomboids and how would you train them?
2)My back is very weak. It's mostly the middle back and the erector spinae muscles (the ones on both sides of the spine). Is there a way other than deadlifting to train those muscles? I don't want to potentially hurt myself deadlifting.
Stretch marks don't go away...EVER! Cocoa butter, tanning, cream, none of that sh*t works! The only thing to do about them is to accept them, as "character marks"
excellent advice. sad thing this people( at least at my gym)hate pull ups.for those who do pull ups:
try full range of motion always. i dunno if partials do anything good.tell me if i'm wrong.bar to the chest on top, contract on the pause, elbows lock out on the bottom.
try it on a bar suspended by chains to give it a little more difficulty
concentrate pulling with your pinkie, middle finger, and the one in between. and instead of pulling up, concentrate on bringing your elbows to your hip.
no roids lol, never been a fan, they were made to compete with people with genetics, but luckly i have pretty good genetics(my dad bench presses 435lbs at 46 years old lol) so ive been blessed, but it hastaken alotta of training and doing the right things, right now my bench is 335 pounds haha i need to get up there with my old man!!

@ShadowNINku chinups is more for biceps though. But it gets both back and biceps.

And yes you can replace pullups for lat-pull but pullups are a lot better for you

Im a big guy too and my whole life no matter how much I lifted I just never did pullups so I never developed the ability.
I did negative pullups, dips, and dive-bomber/hindu pushups to work up to regular pullups...goodluck
