  • Great. Millions of lines of code to answer a non-existent problem. This is why we are still stuck with Windows. Every freakin' open source developer wants to write their own editor, their own file system, their own browser... That's why millions of cats will never take over the world - because they're all running as fast as they can in different directions. There is little cohesive open source development - just a bunch of comp sci majors who want their name on a project.

  • Sooo heavy breathing. Combined with the frequent sighing it is verry distracting. Hope he improves on that for future presentations.

  • Very good presentation!! :-D

  • "Uhhhhhhhh."

  • Im not good enough in world of IT and Technology. THis video presentation is very nice and I think if this operating system is upgraded after several years I think it surpass the windows xp and ubuntu. But i have a question is this os can support microsoft office 2007 & 2010, chrome, pro show, cyberlink, vb.net, vb 6.0, atube, anv, sketchup, adobe, etc.??? If HAIKU can manipulate or execute those programs It is close to surpass xp and ubuntu..

  • I liked the presentation and learned much about the difference between Haiku, and Be, and those things which works the same. There is quite a bit of work to be done on the OS yet since it crashes like Win98. I had BeOS 5 on one computer and it would crash also on some programs.

  • I was seriously thinking to try the latest release of Haiku a few days ago, but the system requirement was a bit too high as my intent was to give the second life to my old PC. I'm wondering if I can choose what to install or not to intall during the installation process. I need stripped version to run on 300MHz+128MB machin.

  • I still know shit all due to the comma this clip put me into 5 seconds after it started... seriously gash.

  • Where can I get these presentation?

  • google "download youtube videos"

  • if they were to this project and run with it I might be interested in the Google OS. A real chance to innovate. Linux already has too many distros too many desktops.. come on Google put your money into haiku.

  • I agree. Due to the nature of Linux as it is, it's not likely to ever triumph over Windows. The five companies as I see it are Google, Oracle, Sun Microsytems, Apple, and Microsoft. Oracle is business oriented. Sun dabbles in too many things without enough foothold. Apple overprices there products. Google: a clear objective, idealists that are realistic, genuises. They're going to rule the technolgoical world... just not with Google Chrome. That's just another browser.

  • No, Google's os is CHROME OS

  • Yes, I misunderstood

  • I want to know about HURD, god someone who knows hwats up talk to me I'm pretty ignorant (about as ignorant as someone who's heard of HURD can be) whats going on with viengoos?

  • I'm sure Microsoft just LOVES Google even more now!

  • Jean-Louis Gassée, founder of BeOS Inc., was also an *Amiga* lover that inspired the whole project...

  • Yeah! Haiku is very promising!

Linux is old as well as its kernel concepts...

  • Hey if it isn't broken then don't fix it

  • This is the operating system google needs to look at, not linux.

Apple will rue the day they rejected Be.

  • OS9 has been around alot longer and is much more non-mainstream...an excellent desktop translation of UNIX.

  • 7 years without one release!

  • they are writing it all from scratch

  • good luck with that (HURD cough HURD)

  • BeOS took 5 years to create :)

  • Google is the owner of youtube, then they can put videos with one hour or more. =P

  • how th hell did u put on a 1 hour vid?!!

  • I hope Haiku team collected lot of bug cases from this presentation. Better luck next time Haiku !

  • Most of the time when programmers write flat C code is because they can't think object oriented. C++ is not less efficient at all.

  • unforutantly they don't seem to have changed the interface since the BeOS, which is a shame. BeOS was very cool, it's good to see it's still kicking around. if they can improve the interface to be as good as the rest of the system this will be kick ass

  • haiku-os[dot]org[slash]glass_elevator

  • Nice presentation, good work with Haiku.

  • youtube is stinky

  • very good
