"Contains content from: APM Music." Would that happen to be the opening theme, "Let's March" by Syd Dale? I know that was DEFINITELY a KPM library cue; I have the MP3 of it!
I have found a copy on 16mm film of "Killing Time". It is really shocking and features photographs of bodies on railway lines. I hope to get it transferred to video soon and I will post it on here. Keep a look out for the film on my channel.
I now have 'Robbie' and 'The Finishing Line' on DVD, but I can't find any information or clips on 'Killing Time' except that it was released in 1992 and was written by Sue Read and narrated by Tom Conti. I may have seen it as a kid (I was 10 in 1992) but can't remember as we were shown loads of different PIF's.
To ProdigsProductions, 'Soccer' comes from 'Association Football'.
There were, and still are, many types of football games originating from England, the most common being Association Football (Football / Soccer), and Rugby Football (Rugby).
The word 'soccer' is an English invented word from the 1800s.
@geography27 Thanks, I honestly feel quite ignorant now. I'll be sure to use that arguement for my, unforunetly, too patriotic friends who get mad whenever the word is uttered.
Thanks, a useful film, clear, to the point, although some of the facts are now out of date of course. Nice to see a film without added drum beats that drown out the sound, and without over eager camera operators, constantly fading in and out and blurring the picture. Much appreciated.
Ah, bollocks to Robbie! That shot of the APT cruising along @ 3:30 - magnificent. Nearly brought a tear to my eye. lol! Depressing to think what happened to British Rail's groundbreaking 'oh so nearly' Tilting Train.
From what I heard, Robbie's soccer shoes are tossed onto an electrical train power line, and Robbie tries to retrieve them with a metal pole but gets the shock of his life.
Memories! They used to do a thing called S.P.L.A.A.T. Safe Play At All Times when we were kids in the 80s. Had to go do all sorts of activities with the Police, then be told how we nearly died.
Am i correct in think that there are 3 versions of Robbie? They replaced " The Finishing Line " in being shown in schools around the country? I definitely remember being shown "Robbie" in assembly one day in my Junior School...
Classic..Viv off Emmerdale as the WPC !.I Felt sorry for the mum and her sons footy boots returned. There was nothing as good as e bay back then to get rid !
Thanks for posting this! I remember watching this through my fingers as a kid in school on those old projector reels!! Love the way this part ends at the crucial point!!
when do u think you'll have the one which shows the danegrs on electrified railways? because i think this is the one on the dangers of non-electrified railways.
i'm sorry, their just train tracks, unless you're a complete dolt then you'll be fine.

Where is this rail system with automatic signals and smooth comfortable rides? As it sure as hell isn't in Britain.

For fans of jaunty music, Robbie's theme tune is a library piece called 'Let's March' by Syd Dale - and dates from 1966.
