I have been an avid Bill Alexander painting lover. If I am that rich i would like ti collect his paintings. I love every stroke he did its full of life.. its so realistic.... Two thumbs up for this man.
@blurplemarkers bob ross rushes thru the painting and cuts corners ,,, Alexander took his time ,,I learned much more from Alexander ,His paintings were far more detailed and therefore more realistic ...
To me Ross doesn't hold a candle to the man who taught him this technique.I like to watch ross but The master is the best
@stymye Are you jokeing..these look like a pale copy of Bob Rosses...is it the Emperors new clothes thing with you,,do you see something we dont...take a look at Bob Rosses after the Rain its so much better than this
tell me who else could pull off saying the word "there" 6 times in a row and making it sound like a real sentence.....love this guy... you can just see that mr alexander was just born to paint on tv...100% natural... where others are either trying to hard, or are just dull as a doorknob...i am willing to bet his personality rather than his talent enabled him to achieve the success he did with his painting career.. a good lesson to learn from indeed....you dont have to be a michaelangelo.....
His voice is almost hypnotic....he really was able to make such positive statements and make you believe in yourself & could do anything.....we all miss you Bill...:(
You are probably thinking about Jerry Jenkins. He was a floral painter from around the same time as Alexander and Ross. Mid to late 80's. He was always famous to making the leaves on his floral paintings with the "wiggle, wiggle, out" method. He would actually say, in a high pitched voice, "wiggle, wiggle, out". He was very entertaining.
Magnificent. A pity his show aired so long ago. I was still an infant when he was in his prime, and just can't find any copies of his shows. Even those that took place later in his life are beyond my grasp.
Bill was much more fun to watch in the early-mid 80's when he was on "Magic of Oil Painting" towards the decade's end his energy level slowed down a notch, although it never really took away from his performances (It's just that as the years progressed, Bill got older, he became more soft-spoken and mellow)
Bill was very sharp though passionate about art. He was so moved by art that he wanted all to enjoy and benefit as well. He witnessed plenty of horror in his youth. You can learn about it in his life story.
Bill was awesome. I used to watch him on KOCE back in the 80's... I couldn't paint a picture if my life depended on it, but watching Bill was memorizing. After the show I would just sleep for a couple hours. Almost like a meditation experience. I can still hear the theme music in my head. I wish I could track down a copy of that music. So "uppy" and happy. I miss him.

I grew up watching Bill Alexander before Bob Ross ever came on the scene. If I remember right, Bill is of German descent. He is an awesome painter.

"I love you"? That's something Bob Ross would never say, but Alexander sure has a positive outlook on life, which I admire.

Was he a floral painter?
PandawdyBob 2 years ago
I don't recall.
JiveDadson 2 years ago
Bill, on occasion, did floral paintings on his tv shows (as well as still-life paintings, so Mr. Alexander did paint more than just landscapes)
dft432 2 years ago
Oh I know Bill did more than just landscapes. Bill could paint everything. And he did.

Sharp indeed. One must be quite mentally present in order to create such wonderful works of art.
