  • Did you start out with one wasp? If so how they that wasp mate?

  • I watched this and my cat's whiskers touched my arm. Cue heart attack.

  • i am interested in this because i have raised butterflies, lady bug larva, praying mantises and carpenter bee's. how do you start one of these?

  • How did you manage to move the entire nest without harming them or the babies

  • 3 words: Need big bomb

  • Omigawd! I can't even look at those wasps with out my skin jumping!

  • Beautiful wasps. Next to ants, wasps and bees are regarded as the most intelligent of the insects.

They generally only sting people who overreact, and/or don't know what they're doing.

I've been handling bees, wasps and hornets since I was a kid. Only time I ever got stung was running around in bare feet and stepped on a honey-bee.

  • Who the fuck names their wasp don't they die in like a week

  • @misfitgagedewitt12 no..queens can live for several years

  • @misfitgagedewitt12 So? You might get run over by a bus tomorrow.

Anything and anyone can die at any time, names are still important, right?

  • @misfitgagedewitt12 Some insects can live fore a long time.

  • @misfitgagedewitt12 Erm... they die in like a month, so it's fun to name them while they're still alive.

  • This might be a dumb question but dont they fly away??

  • could you tell me where you got the queen?

  • FUCK THAT SHIT

  • @MrHidekiTojo make sure you pull the huge dildo out of your asshole first.

  • In a way it would be funny if one of the workers stung you (not trying to imply that in a mean way) and the queen saw this and just destroyed the worker. That would be awesome...

  • Did u get the cage/wasp at a local pet store.

  • can you give me instructions from scratch how to raise wasps that wont fly away or hurt you

  • Does anyone know how often larvae need to eat??

  • Youhave photos of the mating process?? Cool..

  • i luv these vids! theyre interesting! is she in a cage?

  • Roxy looks like my pet wasp my pet wasp name is mr stingy I named him that because he likes to sting me and MR stingy LOVES sugar and tell Roxy that I said hi

  • i guess i've got vegetarian wasps of some sort, they seem to eat only something on the surfaces of sun flowers(entireplant) & ripe figs. i see insects 1/20 their size right next to them w/o fear also eating, i'm thinkin if they aren't scared why are humans? what if wasps were the size of tractor trailers? (sadly the gov'ts of the world would weaponize them) a lot of mean looking things can be very nice--wasps, spiders, bikers....

  • interesting.

is it possible that ur queen was in fact a virgin?

btw, i heard that if the queen dies prematurely, an alpha female worker would begin to lay eggs and all offsprings would be males.

  • yes it is entirely possible she is virgin.

She is either a queen that did not mate, or a worker that turned queen.

and yes, i have heard that alpha workers will take over if the queen does, and the offspring will be male. then the worker that took over will mate with those males and the nest goes on.

i have seen Roxy mating with her males a few times so maybe....

  • omg, really??!!

i am surprised cuz i read that paper wasp males never try to mate with females on the nest in the field (to avoid incest?).

btw, i keep my finger crossed for Roxy. :)

  • yep i have a photo of it if you want to see...

Well when you keep a nest in captivity, you are supposed to remove any males right away that hatch out so that inbreeding does not occur.

I don't have a lot of hope left for Roxy. there are 4 good cells that have been empty for a while now she is not laying any more eggs: (

also yesterday she evicted a large larva. just threw it out like trash

  • yes, i would like to see ur photos of their mating!

    oh, poor lil larva.

    didn't she eat it?

    was it parasitized?

  • well i dont have these photos posted on bugguide because they are not good enough but if you really want to see them i can email them to u...

no she did not eat the larva she just tossed it and no it was perfectly healthy to my knowledge

  • @maculifrons Omg lol at this conversation, cool though, just random and funny :)

  • maybe the one that is being chewed to a pulp?
