  • I've listened to 5 or 6 different artists play Tchaikovsky including Hilary Hahn and Annie Sophie is far and away the best!!!

  • I wish there was a video of her performing this at a concert, instead of these stills. But I guess this is the recorded studio version...

  • I love Mutter. I think she's a brillant violinist but not with this piece, way too fast. She does the same think with Bach's Ciaccona. For me she is Beethoven girl!

Perlman interpretation and point of view on this concert is the best so far.

  • I love mutter, i think she is perfect here and I don't like chang's version, it sounds awful to me

  • Sarah Chang just played the Bruch violin concerto, moving her body to the music as if in dance, little smiles on her face with her eyes mostly shut as she played like a goddess ,as I say as if in a trance !!

  • I prefer the Sarah Chang and Hyun Su-Shin versions to this one by Sophie Mutter's which is often too rushed for my taste and for myself misses out on the emotion of this music. Sarah Chang is for me the Queen of emotion and expression in violin music eg watched her play Bruch Violin Concerto live in London recently OMG what a performance, its very strange in that Sarah played as if in a trance possessed by some strange spirit in which the violin becomes part of her body and soul. Spooky !!

  • I like it fast. sounds good to me.

  • Amazing(:

  • This is only the seconf piece I have heard her play but she is very talented. To those who would critize I would only say are you able to play like this?

  • I missed an Anne Sophie Muter concert in San Diego after 911. She was afraid to fly and I was so disappointed. She is an amazing musician. Another Musician filled in for her and did a wonderful job. Sure wished I could have seen her play live. I think the concert was Vivaldi's four seasons.

  • Tchaikovsky is one of my favorite composers, I learned to listen to when I was 11.

This piece is just simply magnificent ...

  • Magnífica!!! não errou nem uma nota.

  • i think this is amazing

may others think whatever they want

  • 43 people don't understand what's playing with true feelings, what you can clearly feel in Mutter's playing way!

  • sorry,but...something is missing here....maybe the Slavonic soul....

  • @rihannalover93

    sounds a bit racist...

  • @anyalun115 -Not racist at all.Just my humble opinion;)And racist means me being against her race-wow,I am as white as she is,hahaha:)))))

  • @rihannalover93

    i am also white, haha but i don't know..Slavonic soul..isn't a Germanic soul good enough? :P ( i'm half Polish-half German btw. ;P )

  • @anyalun115

German spirit is a very good spirit:)))I like Anne-Sophie playing Brahms Sonatas....but it's my personal taste about her playing Tchaikovsky!By the way ,I am mixture of German and Bulgarian blood,myself....:)

  • @rihannalover93

Hmm..okay then, i have to excuse myself if it's your personal taste =)

    Nice mixture :D

  • ASVM is a true artist. Either love her playing or hate it-- she is definitely unique. She plays things in a very thoughtful and dynamic way.

  • SO BEAUTIFUL!!

  • @AltaicPride01 are you crazy?

  • @AltaicPride01 - sounds like your biggest thrill in life is when you performs those daily acrobatic acts of sexual self-gratification while you look in the mirror and video tape the ritual.

It is so obvious that during all of your sexual experiences you were alone.

Although it is far too late for you, masturbation makes you deaf.

CAN YOU HEAR ME? - I SAID MASTURBATION MALES YOU DEAF!

That is why you are unable to appreciate a great performance, by a great performer who has a normal life

  • I thhink that the soundtrack edition is not the most important on this movie. Realtiy is the passion to do and make to do happens. that's it.

  • Superb!

  • She has a look-alike in Sweden; - Torp shopping centre; - how two persons can be so alike!!

  • SENCILLAMENTE EXPECTACULAR, EL CONCIERTO, LA PELICULA, Y DESPUES ESTA MUJER MARAVILLOSA,,,GRACIAS,,, MUCHAS GRACIAS,,,HERMOSO

  • What a truly great romantic classical masterwork of Tchaikovsky performed brilliantly by a truly brilliant (and beautiful) Ann -Sophie Mutter. A real joy in life!

    Harry E W Smith, E.D., A.D.M.

  • @hsmith1932

    <3 It's beautifully amazing!

  • this is absolutely amazing. one of my favorite interpretations so far

  • and her entrance at 2:51 just broke my heart.

  • woow she plays with such momentum!!! really amazin

  • Wonderful but my favourite version on youtube is by Sarah Chang , performed when she was only 12 years old. We are so lucky to see all these wonderful artists for free on youtube !!

  • Peculiar interpretation.

I think that likes and dislikes divide into this performance.

    I like this performance.xD.

  • Basta!!!! Por que solo no disfrutan la pieza?

  • I think that nothing is better than Tchaikovsky.

  • Bravo

  • Fantastic!!! Perfect!!! Thanks so much for sharing!

  • Gorgeous. I don't know technical music but I sure know what I like.

  • Mein Gott! She rockets through that 3rd movement! But it sure is clean!

  • Mein Gott! She rockets through that 3rd movement!

  • gloriosa¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡

  • I absolutely LOVE her playing. This piece sounds contemporary to me, she incorporates her immense knowledge of modern music and using some of those technics in Tschaik´s music, who would have thought !!!! Sounds like a recepie for disaster? And yet today they sell dark chocolate with chilly and it tastes f.....ing great: Bravo Anne-Sophie you rock! Your Korngold is unsurpassed. Your Berg and Bartok recordings will stay in history as THE ones!

  • I had a nice poster of Anne sophie on my wall in my room at university but some scum cunts defaced it with scrawls during a drunken party. bastards.

  • @the oster doesn't matter my dear it is she and the music she plays enjoy it '

  • Amazing sound 1:00-1:40---liquid, powerful. I'm a novice with violin pieces, but that seemed very striking to me. Is it hard to do I wonder?

I can't believe she married that tosser Previn.

  • Amazing sound 1:00-1:40---liquid, powerful. I'm a novice with violin pieces, but that seemed very striking to me. Is it hard to do I wonder?

  • after watching LE CONCERT, I cannot stand another version of

    Tschaikovsky´s Violin Concert

    In adition...

time in youtube is quite expensive, that is why anne sophie has to "run" a lot!!!

  • women can only play sensitive stuff not high tech like tjajkovskij did

  • Charming woman

  • This piece is like driving a 10 horse stagecoach being pursued by Banshees! Anne-Sophie is in control of all 10 horses. Her playing has mighty feeling even while racing through the screaming fingering passages, then, softly and sweetly for contrast. Tchaikovsky was a genius whose work asks the most talented soloists to capture the reins and drive those mighty horses. The tempo variations by the conductor bring out the contrast between fierce and softly sweet. Pyotr would be proud!

  • She is almost as good as Janine !

  • @Drsboppe1

    =)... qué Rancho!

  • This is simply amazing. So much emotion, the way that she plays it has a very robust sound. BRAVO!!

  • @TheForeignersNetwork Wouldn't it be great to SEE her play this instead of just having stills to watch while listening? Watching a talented violinist is like watching artistry in motion. The instrument and the player become one living thing. While playing Tchaikovsky's Violin Concertos 1st and 3rd movements, the living thing is like a fire breathing, winged horse burning up the sky from horizon to horizon. Perle-Mutter is right up there with the best masters.

  • @75serendipity: I don´t really think that the level of one´s playing is the point right here! If one don´t like her performance, it´s a matter of taste! You cant´s compare any Youtube member´s playing with Mutter´s. She´s ingenious and a rare talent, so don´t compare those guys with her, because it´s impossible. I don´t want to say that there cant´s be other well-playing violinists, but just very very few like her all over the world!

  • Her version of the third movement is so powerful - the fast tempo she chose only adds to the poignancy of the concerto.

I met Ms Mutter once after a concert when I was still a child, and she was so kind and welcoming. She is not only a brilliant artist but also a wonderful, very generous human being.

  • Tchaikovsky would have approved :)

  • Anne, the queen of violin!!!

  • .

    Perlman forever...!!!

  • Vanessa mae is a tranny ho' who likes to give bj...ultimate trash from a 3rd world country, no class slut!

  • not bad ,but a little bit to nervous

  • Molto brava , ed è anche una bella donna!

  • naja eig. okay

  • i hate Mutter's interpretations. she's good, but i don't like hearing every piece 2x as fast with twice the necessary bow pressure -.-

  • @runninriot15 I absolutely agree. I love the Oistakh version much more.

  • @runninriot15 Go away noob! Mutter is genious!

  • I love her

  • Paganini Give crazy chords which you cant stretch to while Tchaikovsky gives you high notes and make you sound like you are squealing...but when you master their works, it will sound like heaven! (:

happy listening I ♥ you Tchaikovsky for creating such wonderful music (:

  • i really like Mutter's tone in this piece- the rawness of the string really fits with all of the triple stops and grating notes. i really like it, but i do agree that the phrasing is a bit off.

  • it doesnt have any logic to compare mutter with mae , mutter would be a beatiful flower while mae is dog shit XD

  • wow what a sound!!! it sounds so smooth...

  • she has a beautiful and unmistakably unique sound .... but some of her phrasing is kind of upsetting

  • doubtlessly a real great player but too fast for me. I like the concerto a little bit slower - she rushes through it.

  • she beats all the stereotypes of a female player, she's got the sensitivity but also the 'brute' strength and brilliance that is often characteristic of male virtuosos. so to anybody who every thought that good music had to be made my men, IN UR FACE :p

  • I definitely agree with mareoraft. It just not only shows the character of the piece, but damn, shows she's puttin a heck of a lot more than just playing notes. . . she has that raw emotion, just in there. showing just from her playing. Honestly, I find it rather overwhelming

  • I enjoyed this thank you for having my favorite music piece. Have a great year.

  • For those that do criticism: are you able to play like her??? You are so stupid! This part is an "Allegro", it has to be fast, and even if she does very fast, she's simply FANTASTIC!!!!!!

  • @75serendipity, she does play it a tiny bit fast but not too much so which is at the soloist's disgression. In fact, compared to some other female soloists i know, its not too much different. Very concise and deliberate.

  • @75serendipity I think it's utterly ludicrous to consider people's criticisms void due to a lack of playing ability. If one has no ability or learning in the subject matter as a whole that's one thing but film critics, video game reviewers and food tasters don't all claim to be the best of the crop in the art of creating any of the things they're critiquing. Your lack of understanding on this matter is abominable.

  • @75serendipity Its great! but I do agree for this piece being a tad fast. Must savour even at allegro. The tempo does go up and down a lot though, so she seems to be toying with you : )

  • @75serendipity critics don't have to be able to do whatever they're criticizing... (replying to one-year-old comments ftw! :D)

  • @75serendipity

I am able to play like myselfe, actually I like violin because of it

  • This is fabulous! It OOZES feeling, passion, and excitement! She pushes her instrument to the limits without giving up quality. I love it!

  • she is not just an amazing violinist... she is gorgeous too!

    awesome how she plays!

  • ah esta mujer y sus manos... dan vida a cualquier efimero cuerpo inerte...¡¡¡

  • Es Absolutamente Energica, sin descuidar ningun detalle... Es la version que mas me gusta de este movimiento sin duda alguna!!!

  • Too fast, lack of feeling, I just dont like, and accuaracy isnt perfect, as is used to be expected from Mutter.

  • @ sebastionDTBeat

I am a big Sarah Chang fan and yes I agree to me a bit fast and lack of feeling ,but then again we all have our own favourite Artist's and their different interpretations !!

  • to bad i dont like this i like maxim vengerov 'S version

  • From 8:34-8:47, the way she plays those are so unique, it's more like an effect when she plays, which makes this performance 2x as magnificent :).

  • Great tempo!! It's beautiful the way you play the violin!

  • Bloody hell! That is one hell of a tempo! Impressive...

  • i dont like this version

  • I agree, too much circus style

  • Sei un ANGELO!

    salvatore villani firenze

  • I like in the middle when she plays so forcefully that the string is slapping the fingerboard. I like that she isn't afraid to do that. Some would argue that it doesn't sound good, but in this case I think it fits the character of the piece.

  • @mareoraft Col legno ! Tchaikovski would have loved that ;)

  • @mareoraft um....... the force of the bow can't make the string touch the fingerboard

  • @mareoraft it 's called spiccato

  • @shoutasama it's called pizzicato actually.

  • @FroggerbobT lol spiccato lmao

  • That is my favoite song of all

  • ¡Bravisima!.

  • I think youtube emphasized the scratchiness because itunes isn't like this...

  • she does the fast and quiet parts so playfully though still very intense... really nice!!!!

  • Hace muchos años te escuché personalmente, tocando el Concierto para violín de Brahms Inolvidable Eres genial

Many years ago I´d listening you playing Brahms´violin concerto, it was great!

    You are fantastic for me!!!!

  • So helpful when doing homework. Helps me relax.

  • lol relax? but it's so intense! i wouldn't be able to concentrate

  • sounds like a swarm of bees from the Nasonex commecial.

    i like it though,...

  • LOL that's comedy!

  • LMAO!!! Great comment. Appreciate your wit.

  • the ending was beautiful

  • i am not a big fan of this concerto, but this is probably my favorite interpretation

  • Not bad at all

    Mutter is great

  • doesnt blow my mind

  • agreed

  • great, buy too fast

  • Although many people find her renditions of a lot of concerti too fast for their tastes, I personally like them :)

I do love her 'digging' into the G sul... but at 3:19 and 5:01 are EXCAVATION in progress. These BLARE right at you! If she could just decrease these two 'digging', it will be perfect: :D

  • so beautiful

  • This is really excellent, my only criticism is that she almost rushes, with a fast quivering vibrato. It sounds like an attack of nerves.

I believe some teachers make such a student gain control of vibrato by doing it slowly and practicing many hours with vibrato exercises.

Szeryng and Rosand sometimes do really slow wide vibrato, the effect is gorgeous.

  • i think she does it on purpose. probably because she likes that sound better. i know i certainly do. to each his own, of course, but i don't think she's flawed. i just think she prefers a different sound than you. personally, i think her sound is greater than any violinist i've ever heard, alive or dead, full of the widest variety of colors and emotions. she is an artist of the highest caliber.

  • I think she rushes too.

  • she is cool but this is played a little tooo fast for my taste

  • she's absolutly brilliant

  • This is greatest violinconcerto ever.

  • This is amazing; I love this [:

  • mutter is brilliant. either as good as heifitz

etc. or better recording tech but never thought anyone would equal the greats

of the old school. wonder if mozart was

regarded by his audience in the same way. while not a composer mutter may

be the musical virtuoso with profound

soul that is todays equivalent of mozart.

like mozart she is unparalleled and her

    style has her unmistakable signature.

mutter, mozart, and others like them

are ceratainly 'old souls,' among us.

  • haha it sounds like someone's chasing her :P

  • i have recordings of maxim vengerov jascha heifetz leonid kogan and many more all playing them at the same speed as she is lol

  • I'm not crazy about her. I love this concert but too fast for god sake:(

  • she is a beautyfull woman and musician

  • I love this performance. I love that she really digs into the g string and clearly enunciates the notes. And I don't think this movement is too fast at all.....just right.

  • if you really want to hear fast - try boris belkin - amazaing. I agree with you by the way. a little artitstry is sacrificed for addl mph here.

  • Whats with the extra note at 4 47

  • stfu

  • She has a problem with the speed, she is amazin` :) but too fast ... it sounds cool ,but somehow funny...d`oh everyone wants to runnin` out...where`s the music?! she is good, but too much energy.

  • I really don't think that tere is such a thing as too much energy in music...which is why I'm a fan of ASM!!

  • She sounds like she just had very strong coffee and she is very high on caffeine!

    SO HIGH

  • your crazy for thinking that. yes karajan is one of the best conductors that have ever lived. if you didnt know anne sophie mutter is a true violinst. she does not exploit her self. her life is based on purely music and not fame. this recording is actually not conducted by karajan. i have the video of her playing this. conductors dont make the violinist.

  • Heifetz & Barbirolli is the 'definitive' version in my view: Jasha was a pupil of the dedicatee, and, the orchestra has three of the greatest woodwind players of all - Leon Goossens (oboe), Reginald Kell (clarinet) and Archie Camden (bassoon), who make the last movement even more special.

  • and why should this piece not be aggressive. there is no one way to play a piece that is why music is always changing. shes the meaning of evolution in the classical realm right now. followed by maxim vengerov and others. to me this is one of best recording of the 3rd movement ive ever heard. she gives me a new look of what is to come.

  • She has rendered the most perfect version of this concerto EVER played! The beautiful Mutter has taken what the composer wrote and raised it to a higher level...bless you Mutter! This is a slice of heaven and Uncle June knows best!

  • I want to marry her.

  • You'd better be over 70, then!

  • Charlieray- that was good...and true! :)

  • I Love it... It's just so Damn Aggressive.

  • Both Leonid Kogan and Anne-Sophie play this wonderfully.

  • still too strong and personal emotions sometimes leds little rushing

  • Find Elman/Barbirolli '30s version for perfection, Tossy Spivakovsky's for a decent second. No crushed tones, no wild shenanigans - just honest, beautiful, virtuous playing. Not easy to find but worth the effort. If you have an ear you'll throw out your Perlman/Stern/Mutter etc. versions.

  • Throw out a Perlman edition! What!

  • if you have Elman/Barbirolli '30's version why dont you put it up? while you are at it put up one of your performances? i would love to hear it at least.

  • You are joking... Vanessa Mae is light years BEHIND Mutter

  • Anne-Sophie is an angel. It's difficult to say in words how great she is.

  • Comment removed

  • @IceFun ROFL it's like comparing Liberace with Martha Argerich

  • Oh God! I like Vanessa Mae and everything, but saying that Mutter is "almost as good" is "almost" an offense. There's no point of comparisson, besides they play different styles.

You should listen to Mutter better and I can recommend Perlman and Stern

  • Vanessa Mae is a joke compared to Mutter.

  • @warplan wow anotherone with no clue :)

  • @warplan Vanessa Mae is only good for give me a BJ...
