Part Three! He does have some pretty overtly political songs, & missing from his music are a lot of the tired cliches that seem to be required in mainstream country lyrics now. Much of his music is really Rock flavored and holds its own on w/ Rock fans. But it's not easy to cross the format line in the media (easier with the public) He'll have to build his audience like most of the best artists do w/o a lot of help from big labels. He can. Look how I gushed writing about this song!
The musicians on it are amazing, and the arrangement and production is extraordinary. You hardly notice there is as much instrumentation as there is, but it really tugs at your heart strings, as does Bingham's voice. I suppose it's one of those things you either like or you don't. I'm definitely in the former category. This song got a lot of airplay, but I don't think Ryan Bingham gets the media exposure he deserves. I can only guess why.
From the first song I heard by this guy I thought he was extraordinary. I don't know if he's every going to be a huge media pop star, but mark my words, he's the kind of artist that serious musicians & music lovers will admiring for many decades. Even though his sound may seem pretty specific, his influence will be felt across genres because of songs like this, written with T-Bone Burnett. This is as close to perfect as a song can get, structurally, musically & lyrically.
This movie and song hits so close to home. Makes you think about your life and what needs to be done. I'm glad Bridges won the Oscar for acting this character. He hit the nail on the head with this one!
Getting old is great, you become more comfortable with who you are and learn to enjoy the little things each and every day, it's all about the journey, learning and growing from what you experience...

we all have ups and downs....but if you give patience..kindness..compassion for your fellow man...when you are down ..things will turn around for God will reward you.
This really is no place for the weary kind. Anyone who's been in this world for 20 or more years knows it's a tough life, with ups and downs. And yet through the tough times we all manage. It wears not only on our minds and bodies but it wears on our souls. When we get older we have to learn how to roll with the punches and pick our battles. And at the end of our lives, if we've learned anything its that life is great yeah, but you also gotta toughen up cuz this ain't no place for the weary kind
That was the most generic, scripted, and insincere comment to a great piece of music I have ever read. Could you possibly have fit any more cliche's into a paragraph? I'm seriously pissed that I had to read that while listening to the first part of this song. Hoping that it doesn't permanently scar my memory every time i hear the weary kind from now, a song that is from the heart, from the soul, and was written in a mindset of true originality, which your idiotic statement has nothing off.
I wonder how many people have broken down crying while listening to this song and thinking about how hard they keep trying for their dreams. I know I have.
