  • Part Three! He does have some pretty overtly political songs, & missing from his music are a lot of the tired cliches that seem to be required in mainstream country lyrics now. Much of his music is really Rock flavored and holds its own on w/ Rock fans. But it's not easy to cross the format line in the media (easier with the public) He'll have to build his audience like most of the best artists do w/o a lot of help from big labels. He can. Look how I gushed writing about this song!

  • The musicians on it are amazing, and the arrangement and production is extraordinary. You hardly notice there is as much instrumentation as there is, but it really tugs at your heart strings, as does Bingham's voice. I suppose it's one of those things you either like or you don't. I'm definitely in the former category. This song got a lot of airplay, but I don't think Ryan Bingham gets the media exposure he deserves. I can only guess why.

  • From the first song I heard by this guy I thought he was extraordinary. I don't know if he's every going to be a huge media pop star, but mark my words, he's the kind of artist that serious musicians & music lovers will admiring for many decades. Even though his sound may seem pretty specific, his influence will be felt across genres because of songs like this, written with T-Bone Burnett. This is as close to perfect as a song can get, structurally, musically & lyrically.

  • This movie and song hits so close to home. Makes you think about your life and what needs to be done. I'm glad Bridges won the Oscar for acting this character. He hit the nail on the head with this one!

  • Honestly i hope he doesnt become main stream. Artists are much better when they are somewhat unknown

  • drugs and alcohol are tough to give up.

  • The weary kind aren't here anymore.........crazy hearts survive and live their lives.

  • Getting old is great, you become more comfortable with who you are and learn to enjoy the little things each and every day, it's all about the journey, learning and growing from what you experience...

  • top comment made me scared to get old :/

  • 0:57 Sometimes you you eat the bar and sometimes... well, he eats you.

  • really listen to what ryan sings about in every single one of his songs. I wont start up anything though, but really. just listen to the lyrics, i think there's something very subliminal about his songs. Just saying

  • @67chevy7

    Ooh, what's the "subliminal" message?

  • @67chevy7 I believe he hovers just above the huge alchemical truth of life so close that it forces your soul to take notice.

  • absolutely beautiful song.

  • "your lovers warm kiss its too damn far from your fingertips you are the man that ruined her world" is the best line.

  • @97hollster Isn't it "the world"?

  • You have a beautiful voice.. Absolutely love, love, love listening to you.

  • Saw him live at ACL (check out the ACL Fest youtube channel) HE WAS AMAZING!!!!! OMG, HIGHLY RECOMMEND SEEING HIM LIVE!!!!

  • F%$# that pussy Jason Aldean. Ryan Bingham brings real soul.

  • @SoulSurvivor3989 bro chill its all music just enjoy it why you can...

  • Oooohhh :o PRETTY! :)

  • This one hits hard like those that came before him. Check out Blaze Foley if you haven't already.

  • @redshaftedflicker oh man, everyone should know Blaze Foley in their lifetime.

  • This man has a natural gift. I can only hope to write like him someday.

  • story of my life

  • Why would 5 people dislike this awesome song? This is like the best song ever.

  • You can't get a more perfect song

  • this needs to get more views and when i say more views I MEAN NOW!

  • @pjb108 Tell me about it.

  • 164, 103 VIEWS.???????? LOOK I USUALLY LISITEN 2 JST RAP&R&B BUT TIS, TIS IS SOUll. TIS IS REAll MUSIC NO MATTER THA GENRE. HIS VOICE, THA LYRICS, THA GUITAR. TIS IS A MASTERPIECE.

  • Id say theres like 5 perfect songs and this is one of them

  • Some people (4 dislikes) will always hurt inside because they have no heart, let alone a crazy one.

  • reminds me of a young dylan

  • MIKE SHINODA?!

  • I know that bar. xD

That bar is in my hometown.

  • Good song. Damn good song.

  • I hate Vevo

  • This song is so perfect mainly because of its imperfections.

    Love it.

  • not a really big fan of country

but this song just really gets to me

  • @TRIARII117 Not really sure Bingham can be labeled country...

  • @The79woody true

regardless... its a good portrayal of things im all too familiar with

  • Quite possibly one of the best songs ever written

  • one of the best songs i've ever heard. its kind of like fleetwood mac - mountain slide bc you can feel the passion through the music. better than any song out today. music today has no feeling to it like this song. its just all about making money

  • Gawd but he is beautiful. Amazing voice. Sounds just as good live!!!

  • just love this song so much...

  • we all have ups and downs....but if you give patience..kindness..compassion for your fellow man...when you are down ..things will turn around for God will reward you.

  • Love it, can't get enough of it!

  • What in th ehell was that one guy talking about? This sounds nothing like The Reckless Kind by Roger Wade.

  • Only 130,000 views? That is a travesty! This is the best song in the world.

  • I thought I didn't like country music until I heard this song/ saw Crazy Heart. (Johnny Cash notwithstanding.)

  • @HollywoodK8 this ain't your average radio country. this here's the real deal

  • This really is no place for the weary kind. Anyone who's been in this world for 20 or more years knows it's a tough life, with ups and downs. And yet through the tough times we all manage. It wears not only on our minds and bodies but it wears on our souls. When we get older we have to learn how to roll with the punches and pick our battles. And at the end of our lives, if we've learned anything its that life is great yeah, but you also gotta toughen up cuz this ain't no place for the weary kind

  • @amateurshooter Holy shit -- you should write a song, bro!

  • That was the most generic, scripted, and insincere comment to a great piece of music I have ever read. Could you possibly have fit any more cliche's into a paragraph? I'm seriously pissed that I had to read that while listening to the first part of this song. Hoping that it doesn't permanently scar my memory every time i hear the weary kind from now, a song that is from the heart, from the soul, and was written in a mindset of true originality, which your idiotic statement has nothing off.

  • @amateurshooter well said friend.

  • amazing!

  • I wonder how many people have broken down crying while listening to this song and thinking about how hard they keep trying for their dreams. I know I have.

  • A modern day Bob Dylan gone country. Could it get any better?

  • With this song, I know have a total of two songs that make my hair stand up on edge. The other one is Johnny Cash's "Hurt".

    Well done Mr. Bingham.

  • reminds me of a young dylan

  • gotta love this song

  • This song is 10x better than the movie was.

  • @rmx01indiana The movie was amazing, the song's amazing. Dunno what you're talking about.

  • Ah Crazy Heart... such a good movie. :)

  • They should have just made this dude play Colin Ferrel's part in Crazy Heart.

  • @WildGunman77 I agree!

  • love this song & love Jeff Bridges!

  • this movie's too depressing

  • @WildGunman77 .....you missed the message of the movie my man.....it was all about redemption. Watch it again and see the up side.

  • Absolutely Beautiful!!

  • ??? what would be simple & where does it come from ???

Art if you listen to my uncle painting the grass is a good example I so forth with them dont worry about it

  • Grammy's - what they do with simple is no good bad deeds simple health

  • @itspeaks037 simple democracy

  • internet tv - my whole family is chuncky, I am what you found in my computer

  • @itspeaks037 Grammy's - Hilary Clinton is a Mystery

  • If you mind sitting through an ad to listen to this you don't deserve to have ears.

  • jeff bridges?

  • it's country, my most hated genre, but i still like it. now that's quality.

  • you can hear the pain

  • He basically stole this song from Roger Allan Wade's "The Reckless Kind"

  • @LOLKIPPERS Other than the titles sounding similar there isn't much resemblance between the two songs.

  • @LOLKIPPERS If you mean they both have the wors the and kind in the title then maybe but that is where the similarity ends. Oh and the both talk about drinking but there are 1000 other country songs that do the same

  • @LOLKIPPERS If you mean they both have the words the and kind in the title then maybe but that is where the similarity ends. Oh and the both talk about drinking but there are 1000 other country songs that do the same

  • Clearly, 4 people were getting raped by the biotonical nuke commandos of music.

  • That voice is amazing. The guitar is amazing. The film is amazing.

  • Only discovered his music 8 months ago and already know the words to every song. Never been a big musician "follower", but this guy's music hits me right in the chest. Great songwriter, Great Band.

  • 4 people were apparently looking for the video of miley cyrus smoking....

  • Beautiful beautiful song

  • I wish I had his voice.

  • double picking guitar, gravely voice, slow. A simple, perfect melody with, deep, eye watering lyrics...a song I will listen to for the rest of my life, with a sigh - and remember how I felt right now...

  • @tapthesource Perfect comment for a perfect song.

  • @tapthesource ... do you even know what double picking is?

  • @tapthesource I'd say there's a little songwriter in there somewhere. Yeah?

  • @tapthesource perfectly said

  • harrowing.

  • Crazy Heart=Great Movie

  • The "south side of heaven" is his best recording by far, in my opinion.

  • I have cold beer and this song....

don't know why, but its playing over and over..

  • Absolutely outstanding!

  • the best singer songer writer of right now

  • wonder how many whiskey's he drank and cigarettes he smoked to make his voice sound so raspy...

  • ha ha it's the dude @0:59

  • Fantastic song. Lyrics are amazing.

  • im pretty sure about, oh i dont know, half of those views are minee.

  • THIS is why country/folk music is amazing. You can sing about things that other genres wouldn't touch. Also, anybody else think he sounds a bit like an older Bruce Springsteen?

  • @cmurphy2826 any genre can touch anything it wants its just that they usually dont good song tho

  • this song is haunting.

  • thats for sure

  • The 3 People who disliked this song must have been weary themselves and hit the wrong button

  • very nice, simple yet emotional guitar playing, true country voice and vocals i also dig the tattoos on his hand

  • it's so weird to see movie clips in music videos....great song, real country.

  • This IS country music!!!

  • This movie would have been a lot better without Colin Farrel. He sounded like a country bona fide douche bag.

  • this should have been up for best picture,

not that lame a serious man

  • I listen to this song more than 10 times a day.

  • those two people who dislike mustve been real tired or somthing cause this song is amazing

  • I love this video. This is the best song if you take a minute and listen to the words... Awesome job..

  • Lived a life, Loved a life. Lived a life of love, Lived a life of LIVE!!!

  • I Just Love This Song!!!

  • true musicianship here. this is what real country music sounds like. george strait, brooks and dunn, garth brooks, they're not real. ryan bingham is real, plays the guitar, writes the songs, and performs them. george carries a guitar around but never plays, and how many of those number one hits he gets credit for do you think he wrote? very few. country needs more guys like ryan.

  • movie almost made me cry at the end

  • @Quagmirethecritic : I hated the end, he changed everything for the girl, but still didn't end up with her.

  • @tinmarmitch1 no fairytales, just like life...what a great movie...I wish they would have gotten together too at the end, the movie is a good version of the truth

  • it reminded me of a dear friend

  • i watched crazy heart and i love this song.

  • great song great voice cant say more

  • Been listening to him for a while. Glad something came out to where he will maybe be noticed more

  • His Voice is amazing!!! and he's EXTREMELY attractive!!!! This song is Amazing, I Love it and can't get enough of it!!!!!

  • I wish I could play the guitar like that...sigh

  • Great singer . The song I think was written by a fifth grader.

  • @jasonlloyd33 yeah the same that wrote this comment. Hell jasonlloyd I did not think 5th graders knew how to spell You Tube...fucking butt head...

  • @7nmesa Sorry just my opinion. Not a bad song but very unoriginal

  • @jasonlloyd33 Unoriginal? Maybe you can share one of your songs you wrote that would be more "original". You know the one that expresses how you dealt with life and the bondage of hard times. Would love to hear it.

  • @7nmesa Sure where can I send it?

  • @jasonlloyd33 just post on you tube and give us the link...I am waiting...

  • @7nmesa Here are two

St Augustine and Last Dollar Spent

    /watch?v=c3VWmhtcU6g

  • I don't know what it is, but I just love his voice! Can't stop listening to it!

  • @clpiasgf If you like his voice, check out the rest of the Red Dirt Texas music scene. We have tons of guys like Ryan playing bars & honkey tonks all over the Texas/Oklahoma area. It's true country rock, not that Nashville crap. Try Reckless Kelly, Wade Bowen, Stoney LaRue, Randy Rogers, Casey Donahew, Bart Crow, and Jason Boland. You'll like them all.

  • hollrah5, Thanks a million for the recommendations. Lovin' it.

  • @hollrah5 Very true, the Texas country scene is real country.

  • @clpiasgf same lol i love it. i think its the light crack in his voice lol

  • @davethedawg101 you are a fag

  • @clpiasgf i think what you're heRING IS TRUE AMERICAN SOUL

  • Congo for winning best original song oscar :) Worthy winner !!!!

  • ...and the Oscar for Best Song goes to ...who it SHOULD go to ...for a change.

Much well deserved kudos to Mr Bingham & Mr Burnette for a modern classic. Congrats guys...couldn't happen to a more deserving pair of tunesmiths.

  • i don't like this version : /

  • <3333 this song so much.

  • every once in a blue moon a song comes along that perfectly captures the 'zeitgeist' of its time...this is one of those songs. America 2010...no place for the 'weary kind'
