WOW I was surprised to see this video here on youtube. My husband Nelson and I were there that day shooting video in fact I think the end part is what Nelson shot. That's my huge pregnant butt and me saying OMG at the end. What I remember that day and still find upsetting today is the people/divers standing around and cheering. If I remember correctly Dave had broken his back and was in a brace. Have to agree both Dave and Mike NOT rednecks. Two very intelligent men and super nice guys.
@Wyattriot77 ....I with draw my dumb ...dumb remark being that the truck slipped and at that point there was no turning back.
Btw , I never built anything like that truck. Built a couple of swamp buggies with friends but nothing on that scale of course. Something of that scale is no easy or cheap task , must've had some serious coin in it.
that is not no cruise ship. it needs horizontal stabilizers. would have stayed a float if i did. except it would have hydro locked It needed a snorkel . Poor dead truck.
@gravediggerrocks lmao this is my uncles truck. well was. it was owned by david marquart. he built it from ground up. no sponsors, all his own money. he was running late and wasnt here the time they did this(friends) and they did get it out by a crane.
@pairadice49 I was thinking that this truck was built in Toledo, Ohio by Charlie Paukin back in the 80s? Or is this a different truck? Just wondering.
@Mr7475ih My Uncle was great friends with charlie, and in fact, charlie was a mechanic for Dave. I'm not exactly sure who built the Excaliber, but I'm proud to say my uncle was the start of it :)
@pairadice49 I guess I really never knew who owned the truck I always seen Charlie driving it so I thought it was his? I used to race the Camel Mud and Monster Series back in the early 90s and Charlie would be there with Excaliber. I can remember this flipping over in the water but was it in the Toledo area?
@nyappyyappy First of all, the guys who built the truck were not from the south, in fact they are motorcross racers, who wanted to build a truck to beat Bigfoot back in the day, and they did. This truck was the very first of its kind to be built using computer design software, -definatly not redneck. I am personally friends with both creators, and to hear you call them rednecks makes me feel sorry for your lack of knowledge or education on this video or situation....
@bmvwmtrl There was a bulldozer and divers on scene. I have part of the recovery effort on tape. I'm not sure what was damaged, because the original tape ends too early. I heard that the truck was running the next weekend.
@bmvwmtrl their wasnt much. they pulled it out by a crane. david wasnt too happy to be honest. since it was all pocket money. he had no sponsors at the time
Did it git hydro locked or did he shut it off before it sucked in the water?
