  • One of the most beautiful instrumentals of all time. WKYC DJ Jim La Barbera for awhile closed his show with this. Thanks for posting.

  • @124gbb You are most welcome, come on back as you can!

  • Sounds great on the slide guitar, quite different to the Shadows version from their 1st album

  • @EdVanMeyer yes indeed, this is what makes it unique and not downing hank and the shad's ,but I'm partial to this one...thank for the comment!

  • beautiful song!

  • i was 13 then when i heard this music. until now, i'm still in the mood playing this one. GREAT is the word i described this masterpiece. thanks.

  • One of my all time favourites beautifully played by the best all time best group

  • Great tune. Thanx for posting.

  • @skverma1970 you are most welcome , come back any time!

  • i love the ventures!!!

  • Nothing like The Ventures playing songs like this on the famous Moserite Guitars they were so unique in tone and quality, I am a big Fender Strat fan, but the Moserite is one beautiful sounding instrument especially in the hands of The Ventures. What a very special group they are. Great sounds, this one is beautiful, I still have the album with this one on it, I bought it when it was released. Ahhhhhhh surf music. Thanks for posting this one.

  • tks for posting"

  • @ARREPIOOOOO you are welcome!

  • @26greenrose Hello Loyd!

Thank you for the nice comment...yes, The ventures are indeed the best, i am sure this is the key for a 53 year run as the world's best instrumental band! :-)) - Stu

  • This is one of my all time favourite pieces of music. I have not heard this played by any other group, only The Ventures, and I plan to keep it that way. Thank you so much for posting it as I've been searching for this for a long time.

  • @HotMustangsally Well, thank you!

Your search is over as far as this goes...Enjoy! -Stu

  • This tune takes me to the dreamy space Every single time I listen to,same as the very first time when I was a little girl. Thank You for the Wonderful images,Stu *****

  • @ronnyjam You are indeed welcome, this was one of my early uploads(kind of rough), but I am glad you enjoyed

  • I'm travelling back down memory lane.

  • THIS VENTURES VERSION IS FAR BETTER THAN THE SHADOWS..........MORE DEPTH AND FEEL

  • @satyavega I Agree this song is played beautifully it's Awesome..

  • Outstanding Ventures' Tune!! Blue Star is one of my favorites from the WDR Vol. 2 LP. I actually saw the Ventures perform this one Live in 2006 in Arroyo Grande, California. It blew me away when they played it!! Thanks for uploading this original version!! THUMB'S UP!!

~Matt B.~ (venturesagogo, VENTURESIII, and VenturesPops)

  • The Shadows version was more sweet ;)

  • @RJFSHADOWSMUSIC well, opinions count, however if i wanted the Shadows on my channel it would be dedicated to them, being i have hundreds of they're tunes...my channel is primarily The Ventures.

Thanks for the comment all the same.

  • @stupullen Who's song was this originally?

  • @RJFSHADOWSMUSIC As i have stated to others ,this was the theme to a t.v. show called "MEDIC"(58-60)... Mr. Aker Bilk did the first on his clarinet in '59, The Shadows picked it up as a primary song in 1961 ... The Ventures did it as a filler on they're WALK-DON'T RUIN V.2 album of 1964.

  • Thanks, I have this on 45, on Liberty I think.

I always get a strange sensation in my head from 1:40 to 1:50, when listening to this particular version.

Written by Victor Young, I remember a piano version of this was played after the movie at our local picture theatre in the late 50's.

I have Linda Scott's vocal version I think from around 1961-1962.

  • @RayBushfox Awesome! The sound you refer to is the "Dreamy" effect...love that part as well...also love the stories like yours, kind of strange the way music strikes bells almost forgotten. ;-D

  • @stupullen Thanks for the beautiful tune, I can remember when I heard it for the first time. I bought every Ventures album that was sold. Learned to replicate most sounds including the tremolo effect. It is derived by using a Fender Deluxe Reverb Amp. Hooking up to the reverb channel and patching a cord to the normal channel. Mixing the two channels for that effect. Real cool.

  • @MarcosMendozaJr AWESOME!

Marcos, you are obviously a true ventures fan as I am...love the stories & and have added you as a friend here ;-))

  • The name of the TV show that this theme came from was " MEDIC", The Ventures didn't do the theme,But they recorded it in '64.

  • Agreed and as written in the description of this upload.

  • my all time favorite ventures song. Didn't know that 'Sneaky Pete' played steel guitar. It would have to be 'Sneaky Pete' Kleinow who would later be in the Flying Burrito Brothers.

  • Right on brother!

You know your stuff...This was confirmed by one of the ventures I speak with regularly ... thanks for the truthful comment!

  • The VENTURES have everything it takes to recreate any sound(s) and make it so much better!

Thank you for your dedication to the world's No. one instrumental band: THE VENTURES FOREVER!

    5X5X5X5 STARS!

    THUMB'S UP to You!

    ~Doug Baron~

  • Welcome back Doug & thank you for the comment ... 625 stars? wow!

  • The music of my life..............a treasure!

  • they were pionners of what would become rock and roll.brings back memories!thank you for posting this.

  • How can I purchase this track?

  • Great... also the theme song to a tv show in the early 60's,And yes This version DID come out in 1964, I know,I was There.I have the LP and the 45.

  • Thank you for stopping by with a great comment.

  • This is a classic from the Ventures truly to cherish and treasure. Thanks for the upload.

  • Classic 1964...You are indeed welcome!

  • I don't mean to be picky, but the '45 of "Blue Star" came out in 1966, not 1964. I have the record in my collection. It is on Dolton 320 b/w "Comin' Home Baby".

  • If you will please read the info. box in the right hand corner of this upload,I believe you will find your answer...Album, not 45rpm.

I too have the 45 in reference...this is not it.

  • Wow, I'm amazed... you've posted many

tunes that I've never heard until now... the

    history lesson is awesome! Thanks!

  • You are welcome !

that is my "Secret formula" not heard before(at least on you tube). <3

  • Thank You Stu for adding this video right under my Live version of Blue Star!!! God Bless!!!

  • no problem it was just to let folks pick & choose, or enjoy both.

PS I'll give ya a call sometime...

  • When I saw the Ventures Live in Arroyo Grande, CA the played this song!! Gerry McGee did an awesome job in which it sounded just like the original from their "WDR Vol. 2" LP. I filmed that concert, so I could send you a copy so you can see it for yourself. Awesome upload! A++++

  • That sounds great, or you can upload it as well, Master Gerry(as I call him) is awesome like fine wine...only getting better with time.

send me a private you tube e-mail sometime.

  • this is my first time hearing this and it is catchy, the tone is nice, very relaxing.

  • you should listen to the ventures more often...timeless.

  • Wow!

I love these stories...I started listening to The Ventures around '68 & grasped my first album in '73(I think) & have been a collector since.

if a tune or record makes goose bumps, then it's dang good ; )

  • This is ME....

  • Well, if the song is you ,then you are obviously a gorgeous lady.

Thank you for your comment & you are welcome back any time.

  • Very nice song. I'm a Ventures fan from waaaay back.

  • Thank you for your visit & comment.

I am also a Ventures fan since I could remember.

  • Thanks. Nice tune!

  • Thank you ,it's from the 1964 Walk-don't Run 64 album.

  • Quite nice, however the 1961 version by the shadows is much better.

  • Your opinion, however if thought the same, I would have loaded the shadows.

If you'll see my rates you will obviously see I made the correct choice.

  • Nice version, love that fluttering start.

  • Thank you for your comment & I agree, you just do not hear music like this any longer.

  • Thanks Stu. Beautiful!

  • Thank you for your kind comment, and if you would like to see/hear something I will do the same for you as you have done for me.
