  • he may not be the fastest, but he's one of the best and one of the most creative artists the world will ever know :D And that's why we all fucking love him :D Marshmallows for everyone!

  • His frets are scalloped so you can really dig into it.

  • Shawn lane > All

  • No, YOU can do it, I can't.

  • Everyone fuck this troll mustaine8282 who likes fucking up Motorhead, Jimi Hendrix, and Black Label Society songs. Just ignore him. Don't feed this troll! He will get fatter and spread his virus around!

  • late cofee + guitar like

  • @mustaine8282

Why are you on this video, just arguing with everyone? Obvious troll is obviously trolling obviously.

  • Fast yes...soulful? Hardly.

  • a bad ass guitar player...drinkin tea <3

  • "You can do like that : twilululutwilululutwilulutwiluluuuuu, or you can do : twilulutilutilutilitlutiltuiiii"

    XD

  • Not the fastest, but probably one of the cleanest as far as terms of technique. I respect Yngwie a lot

  • @Sentient6505 me too, ive sold him lots of strings and shit at guitar center, hes got quite the ego, but damn good!..and he wears the same clothes evry time he comes in lol!!

  • He doesn't pick that fast.

  • He doesnt actually pick that fast IMO. His tone has alota bite to it and he straight picks more than legato on this.

  • He is awesome guitarist, but will he blend?

  • Impellitteri IMO is faster picking.

  • he is not the fastest. misleading

  • the video is 5 years old guys, maybe he was the fastest picker back then?

  • @Zelda123Zelda123 Nah, there's always an Asian kid, who's faster 8D

  • LOL xut your fucking hair! You look like a girl

  • Michael Angelo Batio is faster and BETTER!

  • @whoshotya117 yes!

  • yup, i just jizz in my pants :3

  • Love the cup of Tea

  • BEST SOUND EVER.

  • a pattern i use quite a lot is... itle itly itle itly itle itle itle itly itle itly itle itly itle itly itle itly itle itly itle itlyERGH{ (noise gate cuts off feeback)

  • Nah, Check out Jimi bell he's the fastest

  • The part that makes me laugh here everytime is "...which is a little more tricky." Just how rediculous it looks to most of us, and the sheer ease at which he's doing it. And this is supposed to be some sort of tutorial.

This is like playing video games for the first time ever, picking Devil May Cry, and throwing it on Dante Must Die difficulty.

  • @zebatov It's just a pentatonic pattern.. or so. I'm not too sure.

Either way... It's just a 5 note pattern being repeated in intervals and switched up in syncopation into the lower frets.

Yngwie has some chops, but his patterns here aren't difficult. Paul gilbert is slower because he chooses a melodic route, but his patterns don't repeat (atleast with his classical stuff). .

Yngwie is running laps, paul is running then swimming, then flying an airplane.

    Get it?, that's much harder.

  • @Jamsessionroom1337

You're comparing Gilbert's classical "stuff" with Yngwie's self-taught methods? Which, as I stated, he learned playing classical violin sheet music.....? That's absurd. Yngwie is as classically trained as you can get. Comparing Gilbert's classical stuff (which there isn't a lot of vs his normal pentatonic pull-off riffs) to an everyday Yngwie riff (since it's all classical based) regardless of how simple the pattern, is a losing argument.

  • @Jamsessionroom1337

Compare Yngwie's regular patterns to Gilbert's regular patterns (5 note pentatonic). Yngwie picks 98% of his notes or more while Gilbert is frequently using hammers and pull-offs. I'm not saying Gilbert is a terrible guitarist by any means. He's phenominal. I'm just saying you're comparing a very small amount of his playing to all of Yngwie's (or in this vid, a small tutorial) and I'm going to have to disagree with you.

  • @zebatov Um, you needn't say "5 note pentatonic", Einstein. Pentatonic means 5 notes! lol Was that supposed to make ya sound smart? JK I actually agree with you, just had to point that out. Neither Yngwie or Gilbert are half as fast as Al DiMeola anyway!

  • @Jamsessionroom1337

The only other thing I'm getting out of this from you, is that you're saying Yngwie is basically using a sort of "memory" in this scale he's playing. Up and down, up and down. While Gilbert plays all over. Well, aside from the fact that Yngwie can do what Gilbert does, that's all from memory too. Once you've memorized the first twelve frets, you've memorized the second. Then you just play the notes... Just because he isn't displaying "talent" here, doesn't mean he can't.

  • I'm just comparing one lick vs one other song lick. It's his Bach prelude no.15 to be exact No need for a thesis paper.

I can't speak for Yngwies self teaching because i don't really worry about his origins.

You said you couldn't play this right? i told you to understand the pattern. But basically what i'm saying is that this lick compared to the other is just practice, but since he already got down with muscle memory(yngwie) it gives the illusion of complexity with his speed. It's just practic

  • @Jamsessionroom1337

I see. That's what I was saying before about memorizing it. Gilbert's arrangement of prelude 15 is memorized too... Versus Yngwie just playing that. I mean, I'm sure it's something he plays all the time, but it wasn't a studio release that was played until perfect. It was sort of on the spot. I would like to see Gilbert create something in the style of Bach on the spot that Yngwie couldn't do also.

  • @zebatov Actually if you watch and listen, this is a piece he prepared for this video, not an improve. I think by memorized, do you mean written?

  • Yeah he isn't picking that fast. At all.

  • he certainly has speed. I would love to see him play this on a Les Paul Custom turned all the way up w/heavy guage strings...that would be the ultimate test.

  • paul gilbert is a faster and more technical picker imo

  • @GrenadeCatcher

Eh. His style is like a 17 y/o boy rocker. Like he never grew out of that phase. Uses quite a lot of pull-offs and hammers. Idk he's decent. Yngwie has that classical background since he learned using violin sheet music and a metronome. Paul's good. But I'm not sure if it's as good imo.

  • Was he having breakfast wearing sunglasses?

  • probably why the title is the way it is, is because he's never heard michael angelo baitio before

  • or u can do it with out the worlds supply of reverb on ... no?

  • Anyone know what song(s) the first thing he plays is in?

  • Yngwie does not deserve shit. Ok he can play well, but he is smug bastard who is just as good as anyone else but is just wank.

  • super clean picking and clarity. Unmatched!

Fuck you youtube bullshit ass motherfucking word verify shit! bitch...

  • Actually the truth is , his guitar neck was never scalloped . as a result of shredding, miniature trenches were bore into the neck from playing . .... lol

  • james hetfield can pick faster and sing at the same fukin time!

  • @juandiegometallica the hardest part's not picking the fastest possible, but to make your left and right hand syncronize well, you know. While I like metallica, their fast picking parts are only done on an open string, even I could pick faster than what malmsteem did there if i had no left hand movement to do.

  • @blobliblo35 dont fucken Say shitallica near malmsteen go fuck your self asshole

  • @mustaine8282 Don't fuckin' say shitallica ANYwhere, especially if you can't spell right.

  • @dtbjjrb okay SHITALLICA

  • @mustaine8282 Lol. I like how you thought I was referring to SHITALLICA. That's not even a word.

  • @dtbjjrb yea its not a word its your first name jackass

  • @mustaine8282 Lol.

  • @mustaine8282 Haha, hate speech on the internet, if you're immature enough to think it will do anything else than to shows you're a retard, then fine, swear all you want... However, don't expect it to do anything.

  • @mustaine8282 Coming from a Dave Mustaine fan? Mustaine fucking sucks!

  • @IcedMaiden1127 Mustaine isn't all bad, even he recognizes that he isn't the best in the world though.

  • @blobliblo35 do legato stuff.. it builds up the speed.. and having the thumb under the neck at about have way makes ur hand freer to stretches and faster playing.. malmsteen doesnt do this.. cuz his hand is soo fat!!... my maximum speed is 280 bpm using 16th notes. it took me 2 months to get there tho

  • ooohh..that's how you play guitar...... I see... ummm...lol GIve me 500 years, then we'll talk.

  • @ciaranw520 ahaahhahahahahahahhaaahahhaha

  • @ciaranw520 lol what do u think? :) check his profile, @malmsteenmedia

  • @ciaranw520 suck my dick under the water ill teach you how to play it if you want

  • good

  • Where is the lick 0:58 from?

  • F**k Gibson guitars... B.C Rich FTW

  • @Nickwilde95 yngwie uses fenders mainly :L

  • @5150stephen It looks like a gibson one..

  • @Nickwilde95 gibson have never made a guitar this shape, with those pickups, that headstock, maple fret board with dot ilays and scalloped frets

  • Comment removed

  • Does he have a guitar always with him? Even in the toilet?

  • My dream...

  • You can't take anything away from Malmsteen, but Buckethead is faster...both are amazing, though. Saw these guys in Dallas, and both are truly talented.

  • @StUpIdHuMaNs4u nar bucket head is not as fast as Malmsteen like, they are around the same, and U have to remember Malmsteen is a lot older than bucket head, so take that into account, go back to when he was in his 20s, he was a lot faster which means he would have been faster than bucket head then, but I still say when U get that kind of speed, their is very little in it

  • @UKToneKing ALSO, don't forget that buckethead uses alot of electronic effects and other ways to manipulate their sound! :) they're still pretty fast and extremely talented, but i agree on Malmsteen being fastest, although speed, as you say, doesn't need to make anything good

  • Michael Angelo Batio is faster :)

  • @Assarpp And so is Shawn Lane and John Petrucci..

  • He sis so fucking good! thats the talen some pepole has. I have a lot of talnet, but It is impossible to top this guy....he is overtalented!

  • Someone needs to make a tab for this video :)

  • Apparently, you never heard Alvin Lee "Year 3000 Blues".

  • He obviously doesn't need tapping.

  • I want the tab for what he did on :59

  • i like the ending so much, looks like he was really impressed with that last bending himself, haha. It was good though

  • Yngwie can ying his weiner in like .03 seconds.

  • frank gamble is fast as hell too

  • EL MEJOR DE TODOS!! lo unico que por ahi se le traba en las canciones metiendo riffs rapidisimos!!! pero bueno... habilidad tiene!!!

  • lol well i dun think hes the fastest picker in the world, thers some other guitarists like steve lukather, neil zaza , john petrucci that can pick so insanely fast its not even funny

  • Just think how much faster he could play if his arms weren't weighed down by all that bling.

  • Just don't see any soil out of this. He is fast and fluent with scale but just don't see the soul..

  • urrm obviously ....u idiots , when u wanna search for the fastest , the strongest , the biggest of whatever things , it would be related to guiness world record and its also true for the fastest picker

  • I'm your new god lol. I want to see the slowest guitarist in the world thats been playing forever.

  • Look at all them gold chains. Malmsteen is the white Mr. T.

  • i wouldnt like to be his pic after a gig..

  • He wears a lot of jewelry....

    girls wear Jewelry....

    Is Yngwie Malmsteem a girl?

  • I like how humble he is. LOL

  • it doesnt matter about speed or skill wella little but it matters about song writing

  • @kamatewarrior23 Which he also does greatly... Yngwie is great, i personally don't like him as a person but he's a great guitarist and whoever dismisses that or says "there's no soul" is just a bad guitarist that doesn't know that technique and ability equate passion.

  • Yeah, sweden!

  • uno de los mejores guitarristas estrellas

  • lets play as fast as we can -_- i get it. Try and do something new...

  • @MrGamerBazer Like, what? Playing as slow and sloppy as it goes? Playing like a homo? Playing like the dude from Linkin Park?

  • @LOLPombaer lol wtf like the guy from linkin park XD

    Just shut up lol

What i was on about was the fact that every song he does he does it a million notes a second in a classical scale. As a musician you should always be expanded and growing into different way. Btw playing slow (if good) can be just as good as quick. 1 note can easily be worth 10 if it is the right one.

  • @MrGamerBazer Shut up... a musician plays what he likes, you can't tell jimi hendrix to play pop, just like you can't tell britney spears to play blues.

Your own style and bettering it- is what you should focusing on, sure you can play different genres, but don't say- just because your only really good at hard rock, that means you suck and dismisses your skills entirely.

And if yngwie prefers playing fast, that's his thing. That's what he's comfortable doing.

  • @Jamsessionroom1337 eeerm firstly no i wont and secondly. I'm not saying play a completely different genre of music and i do appreciate the skill and speed he does have. But as a musician you should always look to expand your knowledge. That why 1 album gets lower or higher ratings than the one before. Because you experiment. Your not a musician if you jsut stick to doing on thing only. And no its a double edged sword. You should only play what you like in respect of fans....

  • @MrGamerBazer He has more knowledge than most players labeled "shredder". But he plays what he wants and he's done well for it. Clapton still plays the same riffs after so many years.

  • @MrGamerBazer Playing slow and "expanding in different ways" isn't Yngwie's thing. His mission clearly isn't to innovate the music world with unheard arranging and expression methods. What's so hard about acknowledging something and showing some fucking respect for something he's better at than you could possibly get. Does it make you feel better about it if you find something far-fetched to fault upon?

  • I could do that... just give me a Redbull

  • Tiago Della Vega plays thrice as fast, although neither him or Malmsteen got the feeling of it.

  • Jeez, i hope yngwie plays something interesting some day. Listened to him for almost his whole career. I get it, you love Bach, now what? Seventh sign was a good album though, defintely prefer the bluesy stuff.

  • He has jumbo frets on his strat. cool

  • which guitar effect is he using?

  • years of fapping seem to do the trick

  • You aint watched TOMMY EMMANUEL

  • @truthbetoldni HELL YEAH!!!!

  • @truthbetoldni or PAUL GILBERT

  • Chuck Norris failed playing like Yngwie Malmsteen!

  • @knuebschotproject how original

  • The mother of a buddy from me looks like this guy.

  • At 1:05 Yngwie was like: ''Donuts!''

  • they wanted to find someone faster than the sun they found Yngwie

  • Check out my cover of "Far Beyond The Sun." Much Appreciated!!

  • he is not the fastet he is an amateur compared to michael angelo batio check out speed kills on youtube hes so fast it looks like hes been speeded up when he plays seriously insane he is the guitar god and if u watch mabs guitar tutorials he will give u the keys to the lamborgini

  • Imagine if he where asian.

  • I learned to play "Secret Agent Man" on the E string of my guitar too! Seems to me that this man could use some coaching from some of the REAL guitarists on how to use the rest of the fretboard. There ARE five other strings dipshit.

  • @lido672 He's showing a picking pattern, not how to play something using all six strings.

  • @lido672 i dont care who you are or why you even bothered commenting, but yngwie is probably in the top 5 greatest guitarists in the world. he is in a league so high above yours, you are a microbe to him. take your troll hating elsewhere.

  • totally lame! XD

  • "Well the pattern I use is, OF COURSE, this" oh of course Yngwie how could we NOT know that the pattern we use is *insert shredding ass guitar solo here* its simple music theory

  • I watch and think "Man, that looks easy ! :D" then I play and am just like. -_-

  • after playing the same shit over years you should be very good at it...

  • i have the fucking line 6 pod hd 500 and i fucking cant set it to sound like that.. i mean so clean. please guys, fucking help me, give me a preset or tell me how to set it.. :(

  • guys check out me shredding on my channel it would be much appricated :)

  • So many Malmsteen discussions revolve around the lack of feeling in his playing, This may be a conspiracy, it may be a coincidence or it may be, as is often said, that "anyone who can't appreciate the feeling in Malmsteen's playing is a drunk/retarded/gay/jealous/loser who has sex with his grandmother". I wouldn't want anyone to think that so let me say that Yngwie's incessant scales and arpeggios bring a lump to my throat and the speed of his endless shredding moves me to tears.

  • Playing the guitar like a BOSS . Drinking tea like a BOSS.

  • Yngwie is blase and sure, he inspired 99% of all the lightning fast players out there today but his music is boring.

  • LMAO 1:05

    SQUIRREL!!!!!!!

  • @FrontlineGuitar iget it haha lol

  • Y en a qui mange des petit gâteaux à l'heure du thé ,yngwie lui shred et c'est normal !

  • can someone please tell yngwie what a mistake is?

  • The title of this video should be "Yngwie Malmsteen - Fastest Fingerer in the World"

  • Do you think Zakk Wylde couldt compete in pickin speed??

  • @Klhaug97 yeah for sure to tell you the Truth i can pick faster, & ok you want some one who is know, how about EVH, Paul Gilbert, many are faster.

DONT get me i could never play like malmsteen my left hand is not fast.

its not picking speed its mainly left hand technique that makes his playing fast.

and YES i Love malmsteens music.

  • People are so fucking stupid. He has more feeling than any guitarist I've ever seen.

  • @warguy58 Amen brother! I get so sick of those "no feeling, no soul" comments. What is he supposed to do, make a face like he's taking a shit? Like he's in pain? That is just an illlusion to create the impression that it's "hard work" to play well. Vai is a good example. Watch his face contort when doing a hard solo. It makes mushy headed people think he's got oh so much feeling when he plays. He's awesome, but a showman. Yngvie is a cool customer and it shows.

  • @0Heavy0Metal0 I understand the weak-minded might get lost in his fast playing, but that doesn't mean he doesn't have feeling. If they want to see him jump around and make faces, they should look up Evil Eye.

  • @0Heavy0Metal0 Have you seen Malmsteen and Vai on stage together?

After watching Malmsteen playing Voodoo Child with Vai and Satriani, I'd find it hard to label them "Vai - the Showman" v. "Malmsteen - the cool customer"

  • @warguy58 you've seen not many. I don't wan't to say he has no feeling, because I don't really know any of his work, but here's a deal, I show you something with BIG feeling: watch?v=8akmP6Sjv2o solo starts at 1:40, now show me something from Yngwie with more feeling. Iam not trying to fool you, I really want to hear something . maybe Iam a future Yngwie fan. Or youre a future Buckethead fan.

  • @hallio111 ...Are you drunk?

  • @warguy58 no I'm not, why should I?

  • @hallio111 Because if you can't pull the feeling out of his intricate playing, you're either drunk or weak minded.

  • @warguy58 Youre funny. I said I don't know any of his playing. If you mean that this video is his most emotional playing then he has not much feeling in his playing. post a damn vid were he shows his emotional soloing. I WANT to hear it. Iam not trolling.

  • @hallio111 Alright, I'll guide you.

Step 1: Type "Yngwie Malmsteen" in the Youtube search panel.

Step 2: Click on a video.

    Step 3: Watch the video.

  • @warguy58

  • @hallio111 Black Star. My favorite Yngwie song. Listen to it. Now.

  • @hallio111 Yngwie Malmsteen no emotions or feelings? I think not. Just listen to Brothers by Malmsteen

  • You spelled amazing wrong...

  • FLAMENCO DIABLO!!

  • "I'm fuckin so jet laggin" bahaha

  • must be very sunny in the kitchen. Anyone who wears sunglasses indoors is a douche

  • I'd love to hear him play "Silent Night".

  • He is so stoned.

  • i'm fucking so jet lagged......

  • i met him at Arlanda airport in Stockholm. he look´s so cool! lol

  • @horror4ever1997 so lucky :)

  • he has ways of sounding super fast, but picking-wise he's not the fastest by a lot.

  • wow, what a lesson, thanks Yngwie
